Chapter 3

Kelly Smith. (flashback)

 "Mommy look I did it, look a flying bird". Little Kelly said putting her two hands together to form a bird and flapping her hands.

 "That's great darling, ok now try an elephant and then I promise we will go out to the fields after." Mrs. Smith, Kelly's mom said she wouldn't be able to pull it off.

 "Mommy this isn't fear, you know that's not possible," Kelly said frowning her brows.

 "Alright darling I was just kidding, but we can be creative you know," I said as I tickled her while she giggled.

 "so are we going to the fields "?. Kelly asked excitedly

 "Sure my love but let's make it even better go get your paintbrush and your sketch board".

 "really mom? Kelly asked jumping up and down.

 "yes dear". She replied.

 Kelly and her mom ran to the fields as the wind brushed her long curly hair, the grass on her feet felt good and soft, and her tanned skin was enjoying the wind, She opened her two hands as she ran in the opposite direction of the wind. It was a beautiful sunny day. She used her little legs to gap her mother as possible as she could while her mother was behind holding the painting tools.

 "Mom come on this spot will be perfect". Kelly said to her mom before running to a high-level ground covered with grass.

 "Kelly be careful don't go too far," she said trailing after her. "OK, this is a good spot and a good view too, we are going to be painting what we see and not imaginative drawing I guess". She said fixing the sketch pad after catching her breath.

 "See I told you it was a perfect spot, but there's a lot of things out here that won't work". 

 "That's the idea Kelly You picture the main character and make it all fit into a tiny little square just like you. She said while gently brushing the paintbrush on her nose making her giggle.

 "Now tell me what you see" Kelly's mom said carrying her in her lap with the paintbrush in her hands and the sketch board facing them.

 "ehmmmm I see trees, sky and the sun" Kelly said sounding unsure. 

 "Great job Kelly." her mom said and kissed her chicks.

. "Mom, why do we come here every summer? Grandpa and grandson aren't always at home. Kelly asked her mom 

 "well dear Grandpa and Grandma are in a safe place and watching you up there" (pointing up to the sky) and we come here every summer to see Daddy and his family" she explained.

 "but dad isn't always at home, he doesn't even show up for my school events," she murmured the last part.

 "Kelly I know Daddy isn't always around but he wouldn't want anything more than to be here with you, with us, Daddy is never too busy for you cause he is doing all this just for you my little angel. She explained hoping she understood.

 "It's fine mom, I don't need to worry 'cause I always have you here with me. She kissed her mom on the cheek and hugged her. 

 Flashback ended.

 "Miss Smith, Miss Smith, we are here already" her driver Sam, tried waking her up from her sleep.

 "wow I'm so excited," I said sounding ironic while rubbing my eyes as I stretched my tired legs, hopping out of the car as my eyes met the mansion that hadn't changed a bit, after all this year's everything still looked the same.

 "We are happy to have you, Miss Smith". The lady dressed in a white and black gown, offered to shake hands with me, I hadn't seen her before she looked new to me even the workers standing outside to welcome me looked new.

 "thank you, um..... Mrs." As I stretched to shake her hand, not knowing what to call her since I didn't see any name tag on her.

 "Mrs Richard will do," she said shaking my hands.

 I walked passed the other workers as they all bowed their heads, I couldn't help but smile uncomfortably, one of the workers insisted on helping me with my bag even though though I didn't bring much with me. It's not like I will be staying long.

 I entered the mansion, I almost forgot how everything smelled and looked like royalty, the elegant chandeliers that brighten up the whole living room and the ornate furniture that didn't look comfortable to me. I got to the two staircases facing each other that led to the hallway where the rooms were. On getting to my room I heard giggles coming from a room towards the other end of the hallway I frowned my face in annoyance knowing it was coming from Debbie's room one of my cousins, it was strange she was at the mansion and I guessed she wasn't alone. I quickly ignored the giggle and went straight to my room not wanting any trouble.

 Getting to my room I closed the door, my bag where already there, I unpacked some of my clothes, removed my jacket and then my jeans shorts and let them slip off me I grabbed my towel and went straight to the bathroom. After taking a long shower, I got dressed in my simple nightwear and then blow-dried my hair.

 I didn't feel like eating anything cause I wasn't hungry. I'm just going to rest my head a little. I claimed the bed closing my eyes before gasping and remembering I almost forgot to call Nana, I removed my phone from my purse wanting to call her to let her know I arrived safely but unfortunately, my batteries ran down due to the music I was listening to in the car when coming with Sam, speaking of sam I didn't see him again after he dropped me off is like he just disappeared.

 "Ooo well I guess I will have to call her later" I said closing my eyes followed by darkness.
