Kelly Smith.
Kelly did her morning routine before coming out of her bedroom. She ramps across her closet searching for what to wear to her grandparents' mansion, a farmhouse in Volendam, the countryside of Amsterdam. She never met her grandparents growing up but she went there every summer vacation to see her cousin and spend time with her mom, She didn't get along with her cousin for so many reasons unknown to her, but she didn't care since they were older than her and bullied her for being anti-social with them. Kelly wore her favourite big baseball jacket and jeans with a white top inner. Checking herself one last time before she left, fashion wasn't a thing of Kelly, she was more like she would wear anything she was comfortable with and complimented her.
"Good morning Kelly" Kelly's driver Sam greeted as he saw Kelly coming down the staircase.
"Morning Sam" Kelly replied happy having her sit. "Kelly, you need to have your breakfast before leaving ", Nana said sounding worried holding the yummy pancakes she had made for Kelly.
"Don't worry Nana I will just have it in the car since I'm already late and Dad would KILL me!! if I do not arrive on time", I said standing up and emphasising the kill before I grabbed the plate filled with pancakes from her wanting to leave before she stopped me.
"I have something for you Kelly, I know this is small and since I won't be there on your birthday to give it to you in person, I may as well do it now". She said smiling nervously, with her was a pretty neck chain that had a simple detail design around it.
"oooh my nana, thank you. I love it". I said hugging her, I could see the sadness in her eyes I knew she was thinking this would be the last time she would ever since me again. "Nana I want you to know you will always be in here (pointing to where my heart lies
and I promise you after I'm done with Dad I will come right away to see you. I said with my two hands on her shoulder letting her know this wasn't our last Goodbye.
"That's nice of you dear, I was just overthinking everything. She said tugging my hair to the back of my ears.
"Nana you are so sweet, don't think you can get rid of me that easily, she chuckled, we have come a long way together you taught me most of these things I know now, I know it going to be hard knowing you won't be there with me every morning, cooking together even though my food taste horrible, I said making her chuckle again. And having me to wake you up she added and frowned towards her comment.
"Nana I do wake up early sometimes is just that when I do no one ever notices".I said frowning.
"Mr Smith we need to go now," Sam said noticing our talk wasn't to end anytime soon
"Alright child, anything you say, you have grown into a beautiful young woman just like your mom. She said as I hugged her one last time before turning to live.
"see you soon Nana, love you!!!" I said heading to the car where Sam parked.
"Don't get into trouble and don't forget to call me as soon as you get there OK" she shouted for me to hear as I entered the car and thumbs-up to her request
Sam was already in the car waiting for me, I smiled at him weirdly as he was giving me a questioning look as to why I was sitting in the persanger seat, but I ignored him as I buckled up my seat belt before turning to wave at Nana, starting the car, as I watched her disappearing form
The driver was silent not knowing what to say to Sam, I did not know him that much enough to start a conversation and I guess he was keeping it professional.
Leaving me to my thoughts, thinking of my last moment with Nana I don't know why but it felt like it was the last time I was going to see her.
I looked at Sam carefully as he was driving I couldn't help but notice the number 22 tattooed on the back of his ear. It looked clean and nice. he turned to look at me and I looked away quickly from him, I didn't want him to think I was some kind of creep who loved to stare at people.
I brought out my headset to ease the awkward situation I was in. At least listening to soothing music will help while away time, I said to myself, I scrolled through my phone searching for the perfect song before resting my head on the passenger seat and closing my eyes to feel the song.
