Chapter 46

Leaving Andrew in the hallway I entered my room and right away I headed straight to the bathroom, the sound of the running water already calming me down. The steam from the shower made the air thick and warm as I let the water wash away the sweat and fatigue from my body. I took my time in the shower, savoring the feeling of the hot water on my skin.

Once I was done, I wrapped myself in a soft, fluffy towel and dried myself off. It was a relief that soap was already a common commodity in this world, so I didn't have to go through the hassle of inventing it. I rummaged through my wardrobe and picked out a comfortable, casual outfit - a plain pair of pants and a button-up shirt. The shirt was a creation of my own business, made from a light and breathable fabric that wouldn't be rough around my neck or too tight around my waist. It felt good to wear something that wasn't restrictive and allowed me to move around freely.

As I stepped out of my room, I picked up my little book, which contained every detail from meetings to events in my life. Knowing that it could be used against me if someone found it, I had written it in English, a language that nobody in this world knows. I like to keep track of everything I do and make sure I don't miss anything. Andrew followed behind me as we walked through the hallway.

"You made the order for the armor?" I asked while walking down the stairs of the estate.

"Yes, I made the order. It will take around 3-4 weeks to be fully made," Andrew replied.

"What store? I would like to request a defensive rune to be added," I said, considering the option of having a defensive rune in my armor. It would require me to constantly pour mana into my armor, but it wouldn't be enough to make a significant change in a fight.

"I could go later and request the change," Andrew responded in a monotone voice.

"No, I want to get some fresh air. Besides, I could do with exploring the city more," I said, realizing that I hadn't really explored the city since I arrived. I had just been staying at the estate and had only gone to that restaurant that one time. "You want me to get the carriage ready?" Andrew asked

"No, I want to walk around and see if I find anything of interest," I replied, wanting to explore the city on foot.

As we walked through the bustling streets of SilverGlade, I couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement. The vibrant energy of the city filled the air, with the sounds of merchants hawking their wares and the smell of delicious food wafting from the nearby restaurants and inns. The streets were lined with colorful stalls and shops, each one vying for attention with their unique displays of goods.

I walked past a group of locals, chatting animatedly over a hot pot of tea at a street-side stall. The aroma of the tea mixed with the sweet scent of the nearby flower stalls, creating an intoxicating fragrance that lingered in the air. The buildings around us were made of stone and wood, with ornate carvings and intricate designs adorning their facades.

"~~~The city is bustling with activity. If I had to guess, the loan seems to be working. What do you think, Andrew?" I asked, picking up a black wooden heart with a painted black finish.

"It is working, and it's working better than you thought. So far, she hasn't made any mistakes with the money," Andrew replied, watching as I froze the black heart and left it on the ground.

"Well..." I trailed off, noticing a building with a date between Ezekiel and Lady Cecily. "Would you look at that? Let's go check on how they're doing. Maybe they're already falling for each other."

As we entered the building, the warm and cozy atmosphere enveloped us. The room was dimly lit by flickering candles and the only sounds were the gentle crackle of the fireplace and the soft rustle of fabric as people moved around. The walls were adorned with tapestries depicting intricate scenes of battles, mythical creatures, and grand landscapes.

The floor was made of polished wood, worn smooth by the countless footsteps that had trod upon it. The air was heavy with the scent of incense, lending a peaceful and serene aura to the space. As we made our way further into the room, I noticed a group of nobles sitting by the fire, deep in conversation.

The room was spacious, with high ceilings and large windows that let in a soft glow of natural light. The furnishings were made of dark, polished wood, with plush cushions and tapestried upholstery. In the corner, a bard played a tune on a lute, adding to the already enchanting atmosphere of the place.

Approaching the table where Ezekiel and Lady Cecily sat, I tapped my hand on it to get their attention. "How's it going, guys? Hitting it off? Making plans for the wedding?" I chuckled.

Ezekiel seemed relieved to see me, "Lucas, my friend, we are just getting acquainted. After all, I just met her yesterday."

"Don't worry, I can already tell you guys are perfect for each other. You just need to spend time together," I reassured them, placing my hands on their shoulders.

Lady Cecily, with a curious tone, asked, "Sir Lucas, if you don't mind me asking, what brings you around this part?"

"I was just walking by, going to the blacksmith for some new armor since the spirit kinda ruined it, and I managed to spot you guys. So, I decided to join you. I hope I'm not a bother," I explained.

"Nonsense, Lucas. You could never be a bother," Ezekiel interjected, it seemed he was desperate to keep me here probably because he has no idea what he is doing

I gestured for Ezekiel to come closer and whispered in his ear, "Try to get along with her. She is key for your revenge. Maybe buy her a gift, like a pair of earrings with her initials carved on the diamonds." He seemed to understand, so I leaned back and made the same gesture to Lady Cecily.

"Ezekiel is a good man and a close friend, so I will give you a tip. Buy him something that symbolizes religion, not a cross, though. As you can see, I already beat you to it," I said, pointing to Ezekiel's cross.

I looked at both of them before standing up"Well I hope you guys have a good day I still have to go to the Blacksmiths" Ezekiel nodded with gratitude and Lady Cecily gave me a simple goodbye.

Leaving the building, I turned to Andrew and asked, "You think they'll fit each other?"

"Yes, they'll get around to liking each other. After all, they have a common enemy," Andrew replied, with a knowing smile.

"Yeah, you're right. Alright, let's start heading towards the blacksmith," I said, ready to move on.
