Chapter 4: The vermins

Valerie opened her eyes to the bizarre sight of a dark bird looking at her in the eyes. The dark bird was studying her, Valerie was dazed for a short period of time before she came to her senses and swatted the bird away with the back of her palm.

" What audacity ," She said in disgust " I knew zavik not replying all the attitude I gave to him was odd, so the old man had the idea of throwing me in a bird infested place, right in a dirty mud." She was fuming with anger as she talked while getting up.

She brought out a triangular shaped stone which was glowing red, this was to lead her to the house of a witch which will help her to locate the person she is looking for. The stone is to direct her to where the witch lives, that was what zavik told her and she prayed Zavik didn't pull any other prank on her.

She vowed to make Zavik regret pulling this prank on her. she trudged through the forest mumbling that Zavik could have sent her to the place nearest to the witch's abode but decided to send her into a mud pit because of a petty revenge. She was actually thinking while she was in the portal, that her transportation was a little bit rough than usual.

" sheesh Zavik, you this old man, you are a dead meat." Valerie has been moving through the forest with no ending for the past two days despite the fact that she ignited her power to help her move fast. She wasn't even near the witch's place at all because the orb in her hand is still full red light with a tiny of green, so she was still far away from the witch, this brought about her cursing Zavik every breathing space she had.

" That old man thinks he is wise, I will so much love torturing him for making me go through this." She said with so much annoyance, that was when her stomach grumbled and she felt an intense pang of hunger. This increased her anger when she remembered zavik mock of a bow when he said how will she cope in the human realm.

Firstly, she wasn't among human in the forest and secondly, even if she was amongst humans , no money not anything to get her what she can use to survive. She regretted her statement of saying how hard can it be to cope in human realm. She was so angered by Zavik that if she sees him right now she will strangle him to death.

She pushed herself harder, after another seven hours, she saw a house at the outskirt of the forest and decided to ask for helping regarding her feeding so she can satisfy her hunger before she continues on her journey.

She knocked at the door and waited for someone to open it and invite her in, no supernatural is allowed to enter a human house without being invited inside, it was a rule kept in place to minimize the casualties done by the supernatural to humans especially bloodsucking supernaturals. Valerie hated the vampire realm , she sees them as pest.

She knocked again but there was no answer, hunger gnawed at her intestines.

" Damn this human realm which makes me feel hunger than I usually do and damn Zavik ,damn him that godforsaken old man." She said through gritted teeth, immediately Valerie's eyes turned sharp , then the door opened slowly as gesture that she is permitted to enter so there will be no restrictions but what Valerie knew was that it was not a human that extended this invitation.
