Chapter 46 : The Bond Between Lovers

I lowered myself, my belly scraping the ground, and my ears peeled back. I sprinted under him just as he made the jump, causing him to come down on my opposite side. Seeing that he missed me by inches, he whipped around and came bounding to me again. He swiped with one massive claw, and I swiped with mine.

Together, we were once more locked in a heated battle to the death. The other wolf could easily have outmatched me had I not already known his weaknesses.

Thanks to our previous encounter, I could now measure his attacks and estimate when he would strike. I found it much easier to evade each of his attacks and land a series of my own, each more calculated than the last.

Still, he was significantly stronger than me, and I could feel my strength waning. I was fighting for what felt like hours, but I knew it to be only a few minutes.

It was strange how long a single second could last when faced with an eternity of death.
