C 24. Abilities

And even that, it does not encompass all abilities because there is always discovery that may throw away what they previously believed.

He gave an example of the Wind User. At first, they thought he was an emitter but later on, they found out he was a controller. That led them to change some of their theories.

Well, I did not understand the example, in the end, he said he will explain along the way.

He said, "Here is the list."

On the screen, six different unimpressive names appear.

1 Enhancer

2 Emitters

3 Connectors

4 Body Mutant

5 Mix

6 Unique

"These are the six categories we have. I know by now some of you already know where you belong to."

"Sir, my sister and I came up with something similar. So, there is nothing new here." A Russian guy said smugly.

Well, true. If you meet a lot of ability users, one can understand the differences easily, even without going to class.

"You are right, but what you see here was only the general category. For example, Enhancers are generally attributed to have immense strength.

But, that was wrong. We in the facility have an Enhancer that I can beat up in hand-to-hand combat.

Why? Because his Enhancement is not on muscle strength. But on immunity. He has shown to enhance his resistance to viruses, venom or poison that can be fatal."

"ENHANCER"

He tapped some remote and a very long explanation appeared. "Enhancers are those Superhumans that are having parts of their body enhancing or all of their body-enhancing."

"Yes, I said, enhancing. They are always improving, never stopping, continuously. It may be slow for some, but they are still growing.

The majority of them have super strength, then super speed, the rest can follow. My colleague that has super immunity was an oddball in this category, but we heard of another similar Enhancer.

He has resistance to low temperatures. He has a weak body, but when frozen, somehow, he will enter into natural cryo sleep."

He takes a break after the long talk for us to digest and ask questions.

He explained further that the guy muscles are advancing toward resistance to extremely low temperature. No damage will occur to them even if they are frozen in place.

The heart will keep beating, and lung breathing, only if he can't use his either mouth or nose to breathe will he be in danger.

"EMITTERS"

The instructor jumps to the Emitters.

"These Superhumans are those that can send energy out from their body.

The energy varies from one ability to another. They have a lot of diversity and mystery, the world has yet to map them all out.

But, you can guess, most of those with an elemental ability such as fire, lightning, wind are in this category… and also the other energies that are not among the general elements.

The energy may be used for combat or other aspects of life.

There was a person that could emit energy from her eyes. The energy will seep into an object. Through that, she can tell you the properties of the object.

The fight you watched yesterday. At first, we thought the Wind User was an emitter.

Most emitters conjure elements,, but Some do not. What they do is, they release energy that permeates an element and uses it for themselves.

For example, most wind users release the energy, and it merges with air around, and then they can control the air.

But, Bryce is not like that, he has a connection with the surrounding air that is how he can manipulate the wind. And that takes us to the third category, Connectors."

"CONNECTOR"

"Connectors are still a mystery because for some unknown reason, they have a connection with something, it can be anything."

He drank some water. And looked at us before he asked, "You all should carry some test."

A screen pops in front of everyone.

The class all looked at their screen, tapping from time to time. Some are looking at others' works.

The instructors' voice rang out. "You are not required to cheat. All the questions are based on you and what you can do. And at the end you will know what category you fall into!"

As for me, I continue looking around at other people. The instructor walked up to me and said, "Why are you not doing anything?"

"Sir, my screen is not showing up."

Yep, apparently, I might have pissed whoever is behind the facility.

He ran his hand over my table. A screen with his info lit. Though it only contains his name, job and ability. He is an Ability user!

Tap tap tap. It took him some minutes before my screen came on. "Alright, you have ten minute to finish the test."

When I looked at the text on the screen, instead of a usual good clear computer style writing, it looked like child handwriting.

Haha, I laughed and started answering the questions.

10 minute later, we were all finished. And the white board behind the instructor has our Info regarding the category we fall on to.

From then, he continued his explanation.

"MUTANT"

"Body Mutants, they simply have certain parts of their body mutated to something that is not normal in the human body. Or they can change their body to something at will.

Example, people with extra hands; tails, solid skin, spikes.

The reason for their mutation are many, but, majority was caused by a certain change in gene due to presence of an unknown energy within the body."

"MIX/COMBINED"

"And the fifth one is MIX or Combined ability users, they have two or even three of the above abilities!"

"This class is a bit confusing, and it caused a lot of confusion and disagreement among scientists.

Scientists (A) believe that the two abilities might only be complimentary, meaning they are one.

But Scientist (B) believe the two abilities are all independent, and thus the person should be categorized as combined. Even if the abilities are complimentary.

For example, a Fire user having immunity against flame, or a Poison man having immunity to any other poison is considered to be a single ability user by Scientists (A).

While Scientist (B) considered him to be a dual ability user.

But that was not the case. There are a lot of fire users that have zero resistance to flame. Some to the point that their ability is restricted to a certain use per day."

He scanned us with his eyes and asked. "Anyone has this kind of restriction?"

Out of 12, seven raised their hands. And then he said we should input the weaknesses on our info through the test.
