One swipe from its claws was all it would have taken to end Grim and Dart's lives. Ten minutes of dodging took a toll on them now, their bodies were far too exhausted to keep this up.
That was when Dart shouted something in Grim's ear. "We can still merge! It is our trump card, Grim!" but the elvish boy shook his head in disparagement.
"Someone is here, we can't just use it. There is no knowing whether she would keep her mouth shut or not!" He retorted back.
All while this was happening, the woman was just dangling her legs and enjoying the spectacle. "You have good instincts, boy. But you do not make use of them in a way that benefits you in combat whatsoever. What a waste." She said to herself.
"Hang on tight, Dart!" Grim assumed a fighting stance that surprised the woman enough to make her pupils dilate at the sight of it. Grim was prepared to pierce this chimera's heart with his knife in one fell swoop.
He waited for it to come close enough to be reached by his weapon. One slash, that was all it would really need to take this thing down, but Grim failed.
A loud sound of metal shattering was heard throughout the battlefield. Just as Grim was about to strike its heart, the chimera quickly changed directions and let its mouth get hit instead. The large chimera bit the knife until it broke.
"Grim! Are you alright?!" Dart checked up on him. "Y-Yeah. Looks like I really underestimated that thing." He replied while trying to cover his wounded hand with a piece of cloth.
"We should merge right here and right now, otherwise, we stand no chance against this chimera." Dart proposed.
"You're wrong, Dart. I still have another move left." Grim smirked confidently as he said that, right before running towards the woman sitting up above.
"He's all yours! I miscalculated the situation! Just kill it!" Grim exclaimed comically while running towards her.
Dart sighed, perhaps its was a sigh of relief or of being tired from Grim's antics, a cloud of smoke was exhaled by him as he flapped his flightless wings.
