The Lone Tamer And the Flightless Dragon

Eons ago, mankind and the elves engaged in a bloody war which lasted generations. While mankind fought with blood and steel, the elves summoned and tamed monsters and beasts called 'chimeras' to turn the tide of battle onto them. Grim Fenris is a descendant of a long-lost elven elite bloodline of chimera tamers. His parents left him in the care of his grandfather, who died shortly after he turned thirteen, leaving Grim to fend off for himself in this hostile world. Two centuries after mankind’s insurmountable victory against the pointy-eared conquerors, the Kingdom of Vanheim had finally known peace. Meanwhile, Grim mysteriously stumbled into a cave where he discovered a flightless baby dragon. Little did he know that this dragon was going to be his partner in crime for the years to come. The peace did not last long as the humans were once more bombarded with constant attacks from an all too familiar batch of foes – the chimeras. Dash

While they were eating dinner, Grim did not expect his master to be eating this much.

"Is she even chewing her food, or just swallowing them down her gullet instantly?" he asked himself.

He snacked a few biscuits here and there towards his backpack to feed Dart some snacks.

"When am I going to get to eat some actual dinner, Grim?" Dart used a sympathetic and sad voice which used to work months ago.

"You know that does not work on my anymore, right?" Grim had a deadpan expression. "By the way, how should I call you, madam Alina?" he was trying to be as formal as possible, since he did not know what she wanted to be called.

"Just master is fine. Hell, anything you are comfortable with is alright, honestly." She replied back.

"Honestly, she seems pretty laid back compared to earlier…" Dart said while squinting. "Hey, Grim, you should ask her why she does not want to go eat at old Marko's tavern." The baby dragon suggested.

"Hmm. Right." Grim thought to himself. "By the way, master, what happened to you in the Six Symphonies tavern?" Grim asked her.

"I…" She was at a loss for words.

Grim and Dart leaned in impatiently, they wanted to know just what happened as well.

"I… I left my wallet and I've already eaten like three bowls of pork cutlets a few months ago!" Alina Petrov's answer disappointed Grim and Dart so much.

They both looked at her with judgmental looks in their eyes. "Why don't you pay up now, then…" Grim suggested politely.

"Because, boy, I am sure you can see that I am broke myself as well!" the people in the diner looked at her weirdly.

The waiter approached their table and gave them the tab in advance. Perhaps they were afraid that they would dine and dash after hearing what she just said.

"This is embarrassing." Dart facepalmed.

"Anyway, Grim. We will formally begin our training tomorrow, meet me at five in the morning outside Midgard's gates, just right in the western forest, you can manage that, right?" She asked nonchalantly.

It kind of seemed like she had already forgotten about her dashing away after not paying Marko a few months ago.
