WHAT MAKES A QUEST DON LEVEL

Kalen

We left using 'grand teleport', an 8th tier spell capable of moving multiple people over large distances, my retinue comprised of Felix and three others, Desmond Phyle, Lucas Blanc and Jesse Rivers, all three of them were magis-swords of considerable quality,

Desmond was a large man of over 7 feet dark skinned with a shaved head, he had a black beard that was cropped short enough to hide his chin but not giving him the appearance of someone considerably aged, he had a kindly face that was pleasant enough but went as blank as an empty board when he swung his dual axes, his fighting style was one of praise, it wasn't easy to produce ki and blade force on weapons such as axes and for someone who appeared to be a muscle head at first glance he could cast 8th teir spell easily, and he was only 31,

Lucas was a different sort of man, 24 his skills were up to par but he almost failed to enter my guild on account of his character, simply put he was lustful, a hearthrob who definitely looked the part, wavy blond hair that reached his shoulders like mine an immaculate face and a slender but toned body, he was about and inch taller than me and always held an easy smile that came off as over confident and sometimes mildly annoying, like me he fought with a slender blade but his was far more embellished with a rose creeping from the top of its pommel to its bottom, it also served as its guard, his skills as a spell caster lost severely to his skill with a blade as he had some kind of personal belief that blade work was more honorable and required more talent another quality of his that drew in dense girls from far and wide but I had to admit his blade work was worthy of gods and his ki manipulation was splendid but he could only cast up to 6th teir spells with the efficiency required to follow me and both I and Felix didnt like him, for me he was too flashy cocky and frankly I have a grave dislike for womanizer's and for Felix his blatant disrespect for the craft he put his whole life into was enough to rend his teeth from how much he gritted them together, I had already planned on sending him away before even hearing his request but Felix convinced me to see him, he was on one knee with his head low as one should in the presence of a Don, he greeted me traditionally and didnt raise his head or stand until I bid him to, he thanked me for executing Oliver as he had lost a sister in the chaos he caused he made it clear that he grateful to me because he wanted revenge but because I appealed to his sense of justice and then he asked for the right to pledge his life to me, during the encounter he didnt smile once in his eyes I saw nothing but honesty but my prior feelings begged me to thank him for his words and the honour he gave me before rejecting him before he turned my manor into a whore house that was when Felix communicated with telephatically asking me to accept him so long as he agreed to some terms

1)no girls he wasn't serious about in the manor as some members were allowed to stay on grounds with their spouses or lovers

2)any unsightly actions would be kept to a minimum even outside the manor and even if said things happened rumours of them must not spread and

3)he had to raise his magic level

the change it his expression those words brought nearly made me burst into laughter in full veiw of every one present but that laughter died as he accepted barely a second later, he fulfilled all of his vows traditionally and the added ones without complaint, he probably felt some indignation as most Don's would risk his less favourable quirks in order to have him but he didnt show it and I wasn't most Don's,

and the last in my group, coincidentally the only woman too, 21 and already tired of Lucas's advances (I should have added no hitting on co-workers) but still held back from slicing him with her daggers she fought prioritising evading and quick counters which would normally dissuade people from picking her for guarding missions but she was also a master of defence magic and possessed a skill would make any guild sell its home base for a chance to recruit her, she was an 8th tier artifact maker and defence array specialist, already she had deployed several barriers that would make even Felix break a sweat in trying to dismantle, she was 5'7 with long crimson hair that came down in curls and was undoubtedly very pretty, her body was slender with toned muscles and she had her 'red adamantite' (an more with high compatibility with fire magic) blades at each side and a crimson bow which could automatically gather mana to fire and replenish its owners supply on her back a weapon of her own design.

We made for a strange company with different sets of clothing as we hadn't decided on the uniform of our guild and different countenance's. The plan was to teleport to the kingdom's border as teleporting straight into the capital wasn't possible due to all the barriers and enchantments and continue on horseback until we met the royal escorts at a certain village not far from here , a three day journey if the trail was favourable, we were well into our journey Felix was getting along with Desmond and I rode in between Lucas and Jesse as last night after we made camp Lucas had attempted to caress her face tenderly and Jesse had tried to slash at his viciously I promised to side with whoever gave me the least trouble during the trip and they both held their tounge's the rest of the way, I on the other hand was deep in thought, so deep that I didnt notice Felix calling my name until he raised his volume

"Bro, you good?"

'yes, I mean no....I'm confused'

"about what?"

he asked

'this quest, why us it Don level'

'cause they sent it to you?'

"but why did they sent in to me"

i said as I pulled the letter from a pocket in my battle clothes and read it aloud

DON LEVEL QUEST ISSUED

BY THE KINGDOM OF ROWAIN

The kingdom of Rowain would most appreciate it if which ever Don was given this letter would assist in the rescue of the jewel of our kingdom, the first princess Karla Rowain, other details of the quest such as the identity of the kidnappers and how the act was performed can only be discussed in the capital of the kingdom Derelina away from distrustful eyes and ears, we ask that the involved Don be magnanimous by accepting a sum of fourty million platinum coins as recompense for taking so much his or her time in assisting us and we pray good fortune for whoever this letter reaches should you or should you not choose to assist us.

Faithfully

king Micheal and queen Pricilia Rowain

'what do you think of that'

I asked him

"i dont know, I mean the kingdom of Rowain has been know to spend a lot of money on things they dont need"

'but this is the first time they called in a Don and remember they didnt send this to me they sent it to Trident meaning this quest was open for whoever wanted it and besides who would be dumb enough to issue a quest to a Don and have the content be rescue a princess'

Rowain was one of the most militant kingdoms on the continent although they lacked much in the was of magical study ot was argued they produced the best knights and by extension blade masters on earth it was unlikely that their first sword, their best blades man couldn't rescue a princess even if she was taken by another kingdom, I had asked around about Don level quests and a few of the other Don's were willing to give into on the one they've been on, most involved technical things like the fourth Don's saving an entire country from an epidemic by creating a god class medicine or the fifths slaying a leviathan a sea creature beyond S-class on the monster ranking, the most difficult of them was when the second had to face off against and ancient class dragon that had awoken a few months ago, the thing was over 15000 years old and as dragon could control mana in a way that a god class mage would envy, it was only due to a powerful field deployment and a new edict was she able to secure victory she then retreated to her favourite training spot to see to her injuries, and here i was given a quest of similar magnitude which was simply rescuing a political bargaining tool,

Felix read the thoughts in my eyes and asked

"you think Langris played you"

I thought back to the night of the party and said 'doubtful'

"look I know this will sound irresponsible but we need the money more than we need the answer to this question"

he wasn't wrong when it came to tally the bills it turned out Felix had less than me saved up we took a huge risk hiring an accountant earily and gave him a bit of coin promising to pay in full when we were done with this quest and personally I hated owing money no matter how small the amount, it always twisted my stomach and made me uncomfortable inside,

"besides it seems we'll have our answer soon"

he said as the armored riders in front of us came to a stop, the had a flag flying the head of a lion wearing a crown of gold on a red background, the sygil of the the kingdom of Rowain.

The man at the head of the party of 20 dismounted and asked

"who are you fellows"

and as cringy as it sounded in my ears I answered

'Kalen 3rd Don of Trident city, and this is my entourage'

the rest of his party dismounted and took the knee before me speaking in unison

"we greet you lord Don, forgive us for questioning your identity as we had to be sure, we've been sent to escort you the royal palace once again please excuse our previous questioning"

I waved them bid to stand and they did before saying

'lead the way'

my first Don level quest had begun slightly off what was expected but I was already anxious.
