Chapter 14 - Her room

After they finished the family meeting in the study everyone had their dinner went to bed.

In the Demaris estate not only did the main branch that is, her father, but other branches also lived together.

Grandfather had two sons and a daughter while grandfather himself was also one of two sons.

The whole family lived together except for the children who were in school.

The only reason Lorcan and Cian were at home was because their parents had asked for a leave of absence for them.

Since the whole family lived together there was the main house and other houses scattered around the estate.

Maeisha's wing was next to her parents and elder brothers. They purposely moved her there to make sure that they could look after her properly.

Like others, her wing had two bedrooms, a study, a meditation room, a small pantry, a living area and a huge bathroom. The living area had a balcony which overlooked the estate.

It was almost a small apartment. Maei was happy to see a bath tub in the bathroom and a big closet. After all no matter where a girl always like having clothes and shoes.

"You can decorate the room however you like. In the next few days mama will take you shopping for new clothes and fill up your closet." Mama Brianna said as she gave her a tour. "You can also buy whatever else you want. okay."

She nodded "Hmm. What about Mama lena?"

"Mama lena would be staying with you for a couple of days before we get her room ready."

"There is no need for that. I have already decided that I would live outside and perhaps find some work to pass my time." Mama lena said.

"Thats preposterous. How can I let my girl's godmother stay outside and work. You are family and will be living with us." Papa Owen injected angrily.

"I can't have others talk about how I am leeching of Maei's family and be a burden on her. Although I am not a warrior I used to be a nursery teacher before moving to the village. So I was thinking of being one again." Mama lena said gently.

Everyone was surprised to learn that Mama Lena used to be a teacher but not that surprising since she did raise their baby girl so elegantly. Only a teacher could bring up a child as uprightly as Mama lena did.

"Then maybe you could handle the nursery in the estate. Our estate has many couples who can't take care of their children because they need to go for work and other things, so we opened a large nursery where children under the age of 10 stayed before their parents can pick them up. We are looking for new teachers and since you have experience I wonder if you could take the job. I know that you don't want to be a burden to Maei so that way you could contribute to the family as well." Papa Owen said as he didn't want her to move out and be bullied by people outside. His daughter would be sad if that happened and they could take care of her here.

"Yes Mama Lena. Please agree. Don't leave." Maei said as she held her arm.

Mama Lena looked at her before nodding to Papa Owen and Maei cheered loudly before running to Papa Owen and hugging his legs.

"Thank you so much papa."

She looked up at him and smiled largely. Papa Owen was moved emotionally. His baby girl finally called him papa and hugged him.

Papa Owen picked her up and hugged her tightly "Of course. Anything for my baby girl."

Mama Brianna and Mama Lena were both moved and smiled happily before showing her the rest of the wing.

This was the first time Maei had seen such a place. Even in her previous life people weren't as extravagant.

The wing was decorated in high quality but elegant furniture and decor. It wasn't ostentatious.

The fact that everything inside was so advanced that surprised her. Everything ran on energy stones or rune stones.

Her elder brothers before leaving showed her how everything ran. They told her about a thing called computer which was invented by the current head when he was in school.

The computer ran on energy stones and took command from her with the help of a jade wrist band.

The jade wrist band was invented in the past 20 years and had just reached the major cities in the empire. It was soon going to be distributed to other towns and villages through out the empire and take place of paper identification and other important access.

The jade wrist band was like an identity band which recorded everything about the person. It was also an access pass through which the government knew who had enough clearance. The band also allowed the individual to control the computer and give commands.

Maei was going to be fitted by a Band tomorrow at the government civil affairs office.

She was astounded when she saw the computer. It was like a walking library and she could find information on anything she wanted. She could also set his own privacy settings which could only be overriden by her parents as she was not of age yet. She couldn't wait to explore all the books in it and all the information that she wanted.

There was so much she had to learn about the world that she was in. After all only by knowing would she know how to plan her future.

Maei went to bed and slept peacefully after having enough of the excitement in a new place.

Next morning Maei and everyone gathered in front of the Ancestral Hall after breakfast.

Grandfather had called a family meeting after she would be tested at the main hall, during which she would be introduced to the rest of the family members.

Maei, her two elder brothers, Dad, Moms and grandparents were the only ones who were present during her testing.

Grandfather first took her to the ancestral resting place where the names of all ancestors were carved and introduced her to them. Except for the ancestors who were buried at the Warrior's Rest, the rest of the ancestors were here.

She bowed deeply to them and thanked them for their sacrifice as well as their contribution to the family like grandfather asked. She also asked them to protect the family and to give her the strength to write her own destiny.

She was then taken to a large hall next to the resting place. This was the hall where the children of the Demaris family were tested.

Grandfather had explained to her yesterday about the procedure.

He explained to her that once she puts her hand on the stone and inserts her MSR inside, above the stone few lines of color will appear. The first line is her level of aptitude in Martial Spirit, the second line was for her aptitude in support talent, The third was her elemental colour and how strong it was.

The color grade was divided by light to dark. The darker the color the higher the aptitude. It went from Pink, Orange, Yellow, Green, Teal, Blue, Red, Purple, Indigo, Black, Silver and Gold.

These were the colors everything were graded by in The Empire including aptitude, strength, artefacts, pills etc.. Pink and orange being low grade, Yellow and Green being Middle Grade, Teal and Blue being High grade, Red, Purple and Indigo being Top grade and lastly Black, Silver and Gold being Peerless.

In the Demaris family Except for her grandfather who was a silver and Eldest brother who had black Aptitude the rest had Top grade aptitude. Seeing this one can imagine the rest of the top families since the Demaris family is only the third.

The hall was big and there was large stage in the middle with a transparent stone two meters tall. That was the upgraded testing stone released by the research institute 5 years ago.

Grandfather led her to the stage while the rest of them stayed under.

"Don't be nervous and put your pure soul/martial force inside the stone."

"Ok grandfather."

Maeisha took a deep breath and put her hand on the Testing Stone. This was it. This would tell her weather or not she has the strength to protect her loved ones, Weather she would be weak or strong and weather she would write her own destiny or do what others want her to do...
