Chapter 43: Clearing the Air
Aurelie could hear Tobin take a deep breath as she settled onto the comfortable couch.
“What’s going on?” she asked tentatively.
“Well, I could use that memory stick, that’s for sure,” Tobin laughed half-heartedly. “Ross is doing his very best, but I guess my past is coming back to haunt me. I need proof for this Morrisa situation.”
Aurelie sat upright, forgetting she had just bumped her back just a few moments ago.
“Oh! I found the memory stick,” she blurted cringing from the pain. “I have it in my hand right now.”
They both laughed. Aurelie listened to the low rumbling of Tobin’s voice, wishing she were beside him that very moment.
“I’ll drive over to get it tomorrow,” Tobin exhaled. “Thank you so much Aurie, it will help a lot.”
“I’ll be at the barn with Mako,” she told him. “You’ll have to come to Braxhill.”
They made plans to meet up at the barn after Aurelie was done work. That way, Aurelie could take care of Mako and still go with Tobin to his court meeting.
