Chapter 39: Damp to the Bone
Under early morning gray clouds, Aurelie and Tobin made their way to their cars.
Aurelie opened her car’s back door and Tobin put her suitcase inside.
“It’s just a week,” Tobin said, his voice low. “I’ll see you soon.”
Aurelie turned and was enveloped in a deep hug.
“I know,” she whispered. “I wish you could be there.”
Tobin kissed her forehead and released her from his arms, “I’ll check in with you once I’m at the hotel.”
“Okay,” Aurelie nodded. “I’ll text you as well.”
“Love you.”
“Love you.”
Off they drove, each in a different direction, but with united hearts. In her mind’s eye, Aurelie could envision Tobin driving down the streets to the tour bus and being greeted by his bandmates. They would have an enjoyable trip to their next concert.
She then turned her concentration to the show ahead. This was the last show before the international Glendrige Cup. It was Mako’s and her last chance to get ready for the biggest show of the year.
