Chapter 20: Not Today
The cab dropped Aurelie off at her apartment. The silence of the night was in sharp contrast to the clamorous event at Skye Turrcotte’s.
Aurelie made her way into her quaint apartment, still trying to understand what had happened that night. She was not impressed by the party, or by Tobin’s behavior.
Did his bandmates not see the pressure he was under? It didn’t seem fair, but Tobin didn’t try to stop accepting drinks or even get out of the situation. Was this how rockstars actually lived? How much control did Skye Turrcotte actually have over the band?
After pacing for the next hour, trying to work out her emotions, Aurelie finally fell asleep on her couch.
Her alarm went off just a few hours later, causing an exhausted Aurelie to groan and want to rethink her life choices. She rose and got ready for work, her mood lightened by the thought of seeing her horse.
“Good morning, Aurie!” Braxton called cheerfully as Aurelie opened the barn door.
