Eavesdropping

It was dawn. The sun was rising, the roosters doing their daily work in the morning. And me and McKayla in a ship dock. I'm pretty sure you thought we we're in the middle of nowhere. Well, you thought! I slapped McKayla for the remainder of the night. So, my arm was tired. And the wound still kept bleeding. See what happens when you fire things that feel like fire or is fire. I carried McKayla into a closed store. I went into the backroom. Later that day, she woke up. "Huh?" she muttered. "Kai?"

"Yes!" I said three times. She hugged me in a split second. "Oh, Kai. Thank you," she said. "For what?" I asked.

"For saving me. Duh."

"I did?"

"Where's the orb?" she asked. I searched all over my body. "Maybe," I said, without finishing my sentence. McKayla's mind was on the orb, and her eyes focused on both hands moving upon my body. Then she just blurted out laughing. I looked at the bottom of my body, and it was right between the legs. I grabbed it. "Don't even,

McKayla, this orb will understand to not mess with me." The orb turned into a fist and punched me. McKayla laughed ever harder. I growled at it. But, that was nothing to worry about. Footsteps were coming our way. "Hide," I said. I pushed a box to cover us. I'm gonna be honest with you, I'm starting to think that the universe wants me captured. Because, McNane's men and himself was inside the store. Their guns shine their glint. Ugh.

An old man came out. He had white hair and a bushy beard, with a flat cap. He had a vest and rusty brown shoes, that you go to church with. "Hello, welcome

to Sardine's and Beans," the old man said. McNane chuckled. "What's your name?" he said. The old man stammered. "You know—" Someone put their gun out. McNane walked, with his shoes that clicked as he took each step. He looked at the old man, and whispered, "Yes, I know you. Just act with it." The old man nodded. "And don't nod," McNane added. "As I was saying, what is your name?"

"Abraham; some friends call me Abe."

McNane laughed. "That's nice, very nice. Is it okay if we can talk?" Abe smiled. "No one has really come in yet—so, might as well." They went into his office.

McKayla raised an eyebrow. "Why would they ask what his name was when they don't know him?" I rolled my eyes. "They were acting. They knew we were here, or someone." McKayla scratched her head. "But, why would they need to act?"

"Wait."

I went over the box—like a pro—and crouched to the door. "What the—" I shushed her. McNane said, "I need something from you." Abe implied, "I'm pretty sure of that."

"I need a machine. Something powerful, to defeat two people."

"I don't know what business you're doing, but I don't trust it," Abe said. "I already gave you powerful guns, unlimited men. I don't know what else to give you." "I never said give me something," McNane said. "I'm telling you to make me something. I need a machine, a big machine with a lot of weapons." "So technically, a robot." "Yes, and I need multiple of them, very big."

"Listen here. I'm not a rich man," Abe said. McNane admitted, "But, your friends are. And half of the Gengos money is delivered to you. Don't try to lie to me." I looked at McKayla. "What do you think they're doing?"

"Trying to make a robot, duh."

I heard the door close, and three men guarding the door. Then, I heard three cars come. It was more of McNane's men, guarding the front door to the store. "We need to get outta here," I told McKayla. "Well, hopefully that orb can turn into a samurai sword." I creeped behind the men, and the orb didn't turn into any samurai sword. A man sniffled. "Your kidding me right now?" I yelled at the orb. The orb turned pink and vibrated. "What's happening?" I asked McKayla.

"Orbs still have emotions. Right now, you're pretty much a laughingstock," McKayla said. I growled at the

orb again. I see that orb thinks we're playing. Ooooh, I'll give it something. "Is there another way to—" The orb turned into a samurai, extra longer, and slashed their backs. Then, it turned back into an orb. I rolled my eyes. "Thanks—I guess." I turned back to McKayla. She shrugged.

We started running—while rising. We accidentally smashed into a building. Luckily, there was something else inside the building, so we didn't really go into the building. Also, McNane's men were there. I guess there are pros and cons.

Abe pointed to a robot, a very big robot. "We have a 2019 robot I made. Supposed to be for July 4th. But, it scared people, so it's a bit filled with some memories with sticks. McNane face turned demented. "I said to make me one." "Well what's the point if you already have one?" Abe said. McNane sighed. "Dice is already there, threatening to kill those Orbals. He's already got them in aircrafts without any air conditioning. I'm just trying to finish the job."

Abe looked at him as if he was crazy.

"What in the world are you talking about?" McNane laughed as if Abe was so simpleminded.

"You see, humans don't make babies as fast as Orbals. Our military men are not as strong as those Orbals. The human population will die soon," McNane said. "We can probably just let them be in our shoes. I'm trying to be the hero." Abe laughed. "Criminals become heroes, eh?" McNane dug into his pocket. And a large pack of money was in his hand. "Eight hundred thousand, for that robot."

" Made one?"

"That robot."

Abe looked back. "Okay." He took the money from his hand. "McKayla, what's about to happen?" I asked her. "We're...we're the last ones," she said, trembling.

"You meant the last two?" I said. McKayla burst into tears and collapsed on my shoulder. I put my arms around her. "It wasn't supposed to be this way!" McKayla cried. "It didn't," I said. "I have to do something." McKayla looked at me. "I have to return the orb to the king," I said. McKayla shouted, "But, Captain Dice and McNane want the orb!"

"I know, but the king can return back the orb. Then we'll be stronger."

"What difference does it make?"

"How do you think they captured the Orbals?"

McKayla looked at me. "Well what do you suggest we do?" she asked. "We return to the tallest building, and also try not to die. And we place it on there," I said. McKayla nodded. "But what are we technically supposed to use to get there?" I looked at the back. "GTS?" I said, unsure of myself. "It's called GPS," McKayla said. No wonder I was so unsure of myself. We needed to be anonymous. McNane's men were guarding the place.

Crash!

We just had to fall through the roof.

Rifles and men bursted inside the room. The orb turned into a minigun. Then the orb went onto McKayla's hand and became an assault rifle. "How does it feel? I asked.

"It feels—"

The guns started firing. Men from left to right died. But, more reinforcements came! "I'm throwing a grenade!" McKayla shouted. The orb turned to a taser. It shot at the grenade. The grenade started buzzing with electricity.

Boom!

Men and us flew like twirling shoes, hitting walls, getting killed by smashing into that robot. I'm pretty sure I'm just explaining McNane's men. Smoke was all around the room, I coughed. McKayla coughed too. Then, she collapsed.

No!

"McKayla!!!!" I shouted very high. I slid to McKayla. Since she was sideways; I turned her body towards me. "McKayla, are you okay?" I said. She lifted her hands. One on my shoulder, and one on her heart. "Kai," she muttered. Blood slid across her mouth. "I'm alright."

I looked at her more worried than ever. "No, you're not, just stay still! You'll be fine!" I looked at the orb for help. The orb looked as worried as me. It was deep blue, and had black at the side. It started transforming and flew to McKayla. It became a light on her stomach, where she was hurt. It was green and beautiful. The wound started to mend, and it disappeared. "Yes!" I shouted. The orb went back into my hand. "And yet, you didn't heal me," I said to the orb. I felt a very fast vibration from the orb.

"It's saying that it's sorry," McKayla said. I looked at the deep blue of the orb. I kissed it. "Aww—" "Don't

even," I said, then laughed after. The orb turned pink and started vibrating. I turned my head backwards. More rifles started reporting. "Run!" I shouted. The orb turned into a big robot from something like Transforms or something. It ran through the building and then turned into a Bugatti. It drove away real fast. Cars started chasing after us. Rifles made marks on the car. "Oh boy!" I shouted. "Can the orb do two things at a time?!"

"I think it can do about four-hundred things in a time! But since we're somewhere else—!" McKayla didn't finish her sentence. But then, guns—practically our guns from Sardine's and Beans—rose from the car.

Ratatatatatatatatatat!!!

Glory to God! Cars blew up. But other cars were on the road too. But, I'm so glad that this orb knows how to freakishly drive. It did a hard turn, and the other cars started rolling and crashing into other cars. "Yes!" I shouted. But then a helicopter was on top of us. It threw a missile. We ended up doing a barrel roll and landed. Then, the po po were after us. Pretty much the police!!!! I ran. Police Cars rammed us, and we crashed into a fast food place.

Shatter! Crash! Boom!

People screamed, as we went out the door. The manager looked at us horrifyingly. "Um, please don't put a bad review on my restaurant, I'll make the food cheaper!!"

Police cars and McNane's cars kept chasing us. "Gah!!" I shouted. The guns were firing like nobody's business. Until, a big van of McNane's was pushing the Bugatti. I had to do something. "Whoa!!!" I shouted. I couldn't help it. "I'm going out!" I shouted. "No! What are you thinking!" McKayla shouted. I jumped out anyway. I held my automatic pistol—wait, is that the orb? I was dragged into the van. It was definitely the orb.

A lot of soldiers we're in there. Rifles shot. I smacked them senseless. I kicked a man's head while flipping. I got a man's gun, and clobbered his head. I used my pistol—which turned into a blaster, and the other man's hand to shoot two people at a time. It worked, and I sighed really hard...at the wrong time. Someone struck me and I flew and hit my head. The blaster sadly disappeared. It had to focus on driving the Bugatti. A guy very tall, with a chain and—why should I even describe? It was McNane.

"You know, I knew you were hard to beat," he said. Blood was sliding from my head. "I figured, why not let them be in our shoes. Let them explore how it feels to be humans." He grabbed my neck and held it tight. "But, I guess you have to sacrifice some people, even if it's Orbals." I started choking. That man got hands though! I punched him in the face and he doubled over. I got up, and gasped for air. McNane pounded my face, I fell. I used my legs to trip him and drubbed him. He pushed me, and I slid. He got up, and I got up.

We started punching and kicking. He dodged shots, and punted faces. We smashed each other on windows and furiously clobbered each other. McNane pinned me on the passenger seat. He kept pummeling me unstop. Then, I felt a tilt of the van. I looked behind me weakly. A bridge was unfinished, soon we'll be in the water. He raised his fist to hit me. Then, a cosmic power was boling inside me. I

It felt as if I was going to throw up but it was way different than that. A big flash of light was speeding out my mouth. The van shook. The ground shook. Glass paralyzed our legs, but it never stopped. McNane limped out the van and the driver died. The binding flash stopped. And I was left inside the van, and it was once again. Falling from a van into the water, again.
