Somewhere deep in the Mediterranean Sea, inside the castle of Atlantis. The lost city itself though it's not lost if you know where to find it.
"Ahh…I'm bored~. There's nothing fun to do here!" A young girl said with boredom. "Why does everyone fight for this position anyway? I'd rather live my life swimming freely across the sea." The girl got up from her seat and walked towards her balcony.
"If only I could join them." She said as she reached out her hand to her people down below her.
[Oh really? You want to join those livestocks?] The girl hand flinched in response to another voice. "Stop! I told you, I don't want anything like that!" She shouted furiously.
The voice then spoke again in a taunting tone, [Heh, you don't want it? Don't kid yourself!] the voice gotten loud with her last words before lowering it down. [You have the blood a god and an apex predator flowing in your blood. No matter how much you resist, nothing will change.]
"You're….evil." The girl replied meekly.
[I AM you.] The voice replied. The girl fell silent and so did the voice. The girl remembered some unpleasant events that happened because of what the said.
9,000 years ago, Atlan, the first ruler of Atlantis, had a wife who given birth to his first descendant. Unfortunately the mother died while giving birth to the child. The child had the body of a human mixed with the body of a shark. They named this child Gura.
Gura was born at a time of peace, so Gura lived quite comfortably since she was the princess of Atlantis. During her childhood, Gura was always kind of an odd ball among the Atlanteans. She had a sweet, kind and easy-going nature but even then people of Atlantis feared her.
Not only is she a princess, but she also had the blood of of a predator inside her. The people would always feel nervous every time Gura is around. Even the kids around her age doesn't play with her as they felt frighten of her. Gura despised this and tried her best to change the way people see her. She wanted everyone to treat her like normal. Slowly, but surely, Gura's effort paid off.
After a few hundred years, the people became more comfortable around Gura. They would happily greet her when she passed by and children stuck to her like glue. Everything was going well for Gura's life…until 'that' moment came.
When Gura turned 1000 years old, her father, King Atlan, announced Gura's coming of age ceremony. The coming of age ceremony is an event that most Atlantean's go through in their lives. This is the point in their life where they have passed the point of being a child and have become young-adults.
The only difference this time is that, the princess is the one that's going through the ceremony, which means that this ceremony will be more grander than anything else. The day before the ceremony, Gura's father told her not to eat anything for the entire day until tomorrow.
This confused Gura, though she still followed his instructions. The day of the ceremony came and Gura wore her fanciest clothing she could find for the occasion.
The people were in awe of her appearance. Gura walked slowly towards her father. "Now the ceremony shall begin." Atlan announced. Atlan ordered the guards to fetch the person they prepared. The guards came a few second later with a man with chains on his arms and legs. He looked distraught when he saw the King and the Princess.
"Listen to me well Gura, this is your trial to become a young-adult." Atlan said with pride. "You must kill this man." He proclaimed pointing at the chained man. Gura's eyes widened when she heard his words, her heart racing faster when she heard the word kill. She turned her gaze to the crowd that became rowdy.
"SILENCE!" Atlan's voice reached every citizen's ears. Even Gura was frightened by her father's voice.
"F-F-Father, what do you mean?" Gura asked shaking in fear.
"This is needed procedure to ensure prosperity of this kingdom. The people doesn't need a weak-willed ruler!" He proclaimed.
The ceremony that Gura had heard of from friends was only drinking the blood of your mother and father out of chalice. Gura was scared and confused, she never killed anyone before nor she wanted too.
Atlan then ordered with anger in his voice, "Now, my daughter! Kill this man and become one-step closer to becoming a ruler!"
"N-no…NO! I won't do it father!" Gura shouted at her own father, Atlan, furiously released the [Aura of King] and ordered Gura to kill the man.
"I!SAID! DO IT!" The increasing pressure made Gura tremble. But even still Gura refused. Seeing determination in Gura's eyes, the king pulled out his Trident and thrust it into the man's shoulder.
The Prisoner couldn't scream due to a muffler placed on his mouth. Blood dripping from his shoulder, Gura was shocked to what she saw her father do, but what surprised her more was the drool coming down her mouth.
Gura noticed this as she saw the blood running down his body. She then knew, the instincts of a starving predator looking at its wounded prey. Now Gura knew why her father gave her that order. She tried to resist with all her might until…she fell unconscious.
The baby cobalt blue of her white hair turned crimson red, her opened to show to match the same red color. Her teeth sharpen more for fleshing eating and bone crushing. At that moment, the Atlanteans felt fear, they felt fear from her than the king. Gura charged straight at the man and pierced his guts with her claws. The man innards and crimson red blood splattered the floor and body.
Gura bit down on the man's neck and ripped him apart. Slowly, but surely Gura teared through his body apart and ate the innards, limbs and even his flesh. Blood splattered everywhere, her father watched her with a proud face while the audience's face was traumatized and filled with horror. A few moments later, Gura's hair and eyes returned to there natural color. Her beautiful white dress was now soaked with her first kill. The blood of the victim.
"W-what is this..?" Gura's voiced shaken from the site of what she saw, herself drenched in blood of the man she killed. She looked over to the people that was watching her and they flinched in true despair and fear. The once close friends hiding behind their parents, trembling with fear. "N-no please, wait! I didn't mea-" her people took steps back to stay away from Gura when she tried approached them. Gura stared down at her bloodied hands and started breathing heavily.
Fear and dread ran straight into her body, it caused her to run upstairs to an empty room. In that room was a broken mirror. When she looked in the mirror she saw herself. "No this isn't me, this can't be happening…"
[What's up cutie pie?] Her reflection spoke. Gura surprised following down on to the floor.
"W-What are you?" Gura asked.
[What else? You, of course.]
"What do you mean!?" Gura screamed in frustration.
[Woah there! Why are you getting angry at me for? In fact you should be thanking me.] The reflection replied.
"Thank you? Thank you for what?" She asked confused.
[You see, I don't get why you were suppressing your urges, it's only natural to eat when you're hungry, right? But even when father helped you out you still wouldn't do it. I thought, maybe she's just shy so I did it for you. You're welcome.]
"So you're the one that did it. You're the one who caused all the mess!" Gura screamed. "It's because of you that things have become like this! It's because of you that my friends are afraid of me! It's all your fault. Why!? Why did you do it!? I worked so hard to become friends with them. I tried my absolute best to make them feel comfortable with me. Just..why?" Gura begun to cry out of her frustration and heartbreak. She knew there was no turning back from this. The friendship she once had hoped for, has now completely been erased.
[Stop whining, will ya.] The reflection said in annoyance from Gura's crying. [So what if they leave you? So what if you lost your "friends"? You're a predator Gura, you shouldn't be with those livestocks in the first place.] Gura who was filled with rage after what the reflection said. She smashed the mirror into bits only leaving small glass shards on the floor.
[Yes! Yes! That's it! Feel the rage flowing through you!"] Gura ignored the voice she was hearing and just kept smashing the mirror until it all turned to dust. Gura's hands were now full of cuts and glass shards.
Gura left the room and went to her bedroom. She grabbed her mini trident and penetrated her heart with it. Blood splattered on the floor and her bed. She felt the need that she has no reason to live anymore. She had truly lost everything.
….
[Hey dummy! Wake up!] The voice rang in Gura's head.
"W-what? I'm…not dead." Gura hurry up to her feet and checked her body. The trident wasn't stuck in her chest anymore, now it's beside her, the tip drenched in her blood. She checked her chest and seen that there was no hole there, instead, all that was left was a scar. "What the heck!" Gura said baffled.
[You're not going to die that easily dummy, you have the blood of a god flowing in you. It essentially means your immortal.] The voiced explained.
"So I can't die, huh?" Gura curled up on her bed, she then bawled her eyes out again.
Days passed since Gura's coming of age ceremony. She tried going out and hoped that the citizens she cared about would still be the same as she remembered. On the contrary to what she had hoped for, everyone hid inside their homes as soon as they even get a glimpse of her. One child even called her a 'monster'. Gura couldn't take it and shut herself back in her room. Many days were spent with her just crying and doing nothing.
Years went by, the people still showed no sign of changing. Gura thought it would be best if she never appeared in front of them again, even after 1,000 years went by, Gura never approached them ever again. During that 1,000 year, Gura and her alter ego had regular arguments throughout the day. Maybe because Gura was lonely, but at one point, she even tried to consider her alter ego as a friend. But every time she thinks back to that event, all she could feel was hatred.
3000 years went by, many of Gura's old friends have gotten old and some of them had already passed away. She was thankful of the fact that she never saw them again since she never gave to feel pain of losing a loved one. After spending 5000 years in Atlantis or more precisely 4000 years in the castle, Gura wanted to go out and see the world. But Atlan forbid Gura's leave and she was trapped in the castle for who knows how long. That's why Gura tried to escape, but even then, guards were placed all over Atlantis and her dad can see what is happening in the entire city at all times. Many time she tried to escape but she was caught all the time.
Another 4000 years went by, Gura was now 9000 years old. It's been a long time since that event happened but the scars it caused never healed. All the people Gura once knew were all dead. The average life span of an Atlantean is somewhere to be 3000-5000 years.
After spending 9000 years held up in her room, Gura felt lifeless. There was nothing more to do for her. She read every book in the library, not that she understood anything, she knows every nook and cranny of the castle and she even learned how to sing.
She took a deep sigh and spoke devastated, "I'm really bored here. I hoped someone takes me away from this place. Anywhere is better than here." She stared off to the distance from her balcony.
