Freya's POV:

"Malik, Malik open up," I said as I knocked on his door. "Hurry, I have great news". I couldn't wait any longer so I yanked on the doorknob pushing the door open and slamming it into the wall. "MOM" Malik exclaimed as he was quickly pulling his pants up. "I was changing, it's why I didn't answer the door right away. It's been like 5 seconds since you knocked." I turned my head and chuckled, "Oh dear boy, I raised you and fed you and changed you. I think being in your sleep shorts isn't going to poison my eyes." Malik was finishing up getting dressed as I sat on his bed "Come sit, I have great news. The Alpha is allowing me to bring you with me on our catering trips," I said while bobbing on the bed and clapping my hands. Malik sat there and gazed at the wall. "Earth to Malik, I have never been more excited about something and here you are stone cold. This is a great opportunity, my son. To get out of here, to see the world, to plan where you would be safest. This is your freedom and I will make sure you get it." Malik looked at me, ran his hand down his face, and softly said "What about my face? I'm not to be seen by anyone. I will scare people, especially the humans. It sounds amazing but I don't think it's the best idea." I could see where he was coming from, a lot has happened in the last 6 years since he came out of his coma. Alpha Kavik lost control of himself and Atticus along with the pack army was forced to lock him in the dungeon. The title of Alpha was being represented by Atticus until it was figured out what to do with Kavik. Atticus was a gentle and kind soul and he brought so much light back to our pack. We were starting to flourish again, starting to become a unit that helped and respected each other. Atticus offered Malik his freedom to come home but he was still too empty inside and asked to stay in the servant's quarters of the packhouse. My heart shattered when he refused the Alpha's offering but I knew it would take time for him to realize his potential. Slowly he was starting to be more comfortable around people and see that our pack has grown with Atticus as the Alpha, and they didn't shun or degrade him any longer. I wouldn't force him to do anything he didn't want to but I would push him as much as I could, I just knew there was something better waiting for him out there. "Come here my love," I said as I grabbed him and held him "I will never force you to do what makes you uncomfortable but trust me when I say I believe this will help immensely. I will be with you every step of the way and won't allow anyone or anything to hurt you." I knew, in the end, this darling boy would do what made me happy even if he wasn't, he always did no matter how many other choices I offered him. "Ok Mom" he breathed out, "I trust you and I will help but please, if people start to stare, I will want to leave." He bowed his head; I don't think he understands how much my heart hurts for him when I see him so lifeless. "That's the spirit my love" I said as I stroked his hair "Now we should be prepping for the next meal here. We have until next week for our catering event and I know you will love it."
