Episode 14 THE CREATURE AT THE BORDER

Ruby breathe in a bit when she saw it was just them disappearing. She leaped with one feet away from him and went to sit on a rock observing their environment. " What just happened?", she asked breathless, the pain really hurt badly.

" I don't know, let me check on that dumb coachman", Arden said and moved away to not find the coach man in the driving seat at all, it seemed the horses had even disengaged themselves or where never even there in the first place but when did all that happen?

All of a sudden he heard Ruby scream in pain and he ran back to her side to see her holding on to her ankle like someone was squeezing it.

Tears started to leak from the corner of her eyes as she was biting her lips to withhold the screams.

" What's wrong?", Arden bent over to her side to see her shake her head, she was quivering and trying to tell him something through her eyes.

He felt someone behind him, he freezed as well, he had come across one of these things in one of his many lifetimes.

The scent was never ignorable. Without letting Ruby stress more or letting the evil thing around touch them, Arden disappeared once again and with Ruby.

She was hugging him desperately as if scared to let go. He held her in return, how come this thing was back? King Arden and Ruby disappeared instead to the castle of Levi and as soon as the maids and guards sighted them without a carriage, they quickly rushed towards them.

Arden tried to hand Ruby over to the maid but she refused to let him go. He had serious matters to attend to and obviously couldn't babysit a capable vampiress, but no matter what, she didn't let him go, he stared at her foot to see her bleeding, how come? It was just a sprained ankle.

He soon realize that the creature must have done this to Ruby and he suddenly felt pity for her and the urge to help her

He lifted her up in his arms as she hugged him tightly. " Get the royal physician, Now", Arden barked out orders and walked away from there, leaving the guards and maids confused but doing as he said anyways.

He quickly arrived at Ruby's chambers and His Right hand man Kaleb helped him push the door open.

Arden ran his slender fingers through his black hair frustratedly. Nothing Kaleb said to him was making sense because he was undeniably stressed.

Kaleb told him to get some rest but right now, he didn't even know if his bed could help him out because knowing that the creature was still out there and anyone at the border was it's prey made him all the more restless.

" Your highness, maybe retire a bit, sit down, Just do something to breathe ok", Kaleb said dutifully once again but Arden didn't even bother to answer him. His mind was running on possible ways to defeat this thing like he did many years ago.

" Arden, Arden, Arden", Kaleb called out once again to have Arden arch his brows as he turned to him softly. " I heard you the first time", he spoke nonchalantly.

" Good. I'll handle all this for now. Why don't you get the needed rest Arden, trust me or do you no longer trust me?", Kaleb asked to have Arden walk away from the study room.

Kaleb was his right hand man and best friend, if he didn't trust Kaleb who else would he trust?

Kaleb stared at the map spread out on the large study table that had Arden so stressed out a while ago.

On one side was the deranged Vampires who no one had still been able to tracked their actual whereabouts and on the other side was that awful creature who had obviously been released from the cage it had been trapped in.

The map was giving them the information that it was in Lewiston. A town which one of the dukes who was acquainted with King Arden resided but Arden and Ruby found the creature at the borders, would it still even be there?

He was going to send a letter to the Duke of Lewiston to ask him to stay alert and make sure not to spread rumors by keeping everything he does on low key.

Maybe later Arden could host a meeting with the dukes of each town and if everyone could work together, they might just be able to find that creature.

Someone was obviously targeting this Kingdom as it was the strongest of all Kingdoms but who was the enemy. In order to fight this enemy, they would need everything, including all of King Arden.

Arden stared intently at Ruby's slim figure which lied on the bed peacefully. He stared at her once again.

He himself didn't understand his need to be in her presence but it just felt like he could be out of the real world for a while if he stared at her.

Four weeks ago, he wanted nothing to do with her or their marriage but now... now was different he guessed.

He was probably going to hate this once he woke up or she might even be heartless as to push him off of her but he needed this peaceful look she had on her face.

He climbed on the bed and got under the sheets. After contemplating with his head a lot of times, he finally resigned to holding her while he slept.

Soon enough Arden was also asleep and far away in dream land. Just at the same time, Ruby's peaceful appearance changed from one of peace to distress, she was having a bad dream.

Involuntarily, she touched the person next to her and it connected them together, Arden was now trapped in this dream as well.

But little did they know, this dream was all created by the creature they met at the borders.
