Gang Tae Shik

I don't own solo leveling or Naruto.

Gang Tae Shik, a high-ranking member of the Korean Monitoring Division, lazily stared up at the ceiling with his legs propped up on his desk and both hands tucked behind his striking purple head of hair.

He had a bored expression on his face as the hours ticked by hoping to get out of this boring building and do something other than paperwork. He heard the click of the door and someone entering his office, turning his head slightly to see that it was Chief Woo Jin Chul, his boss.

Woo Jin Chul was a handsome, orange-haired man with his hair slicked back and wore the standard black suit of the Hunter's Association. He carried a file with him that was dropped on Tae Shik's desk.

"What's this?" Tae Shik questioned, quickly, fixing his posture as soon as his superior entered the room. "Two weeks ago, S-rank hunter, Choi Jong-In, burst into our building demanding a meeting with Chairman Go-Gunhee," Jin Chul started speaking with his deadpan tone.

Tae Shik did recall that happening two weeks ago, 'But wasn't that resolved?' He wondered.

"If he was anyone other than an S-rank hunter we would been able to deny him, but seeing as S-rank hunters are rare and an integral part of our country's strength we cannot simply deny his requests as we can with anyone else," Jin Chul explained, both of them knowing that stopping an S-rank from wreaking havoc, if they decide to do so, was an impossible task for most of the Monitoring division (the exception being Chairman Go-Gunhee), so they would placate to their demands from time to time.

"I already know this, so what does that have to do with anything? It was resolved between him and the chairman, right?" the purple-haired agent asked. Recalling a press conference that Choi Jong-In attended last week discussing the topic of his dead recruits. The so-called Ultimate Soldier tried to keep it under wraps for a week, but you could only do that for so long with the media.

"You're right. The conclusion of the meeting between Choi Jong-In and Mr. Go Gunhee was that we were at fault for the death of his many recruits during the Hunters Guild training mission two weeks ago, because of our 'faulty' magic sensors," Jin Chul told him, opening the file to an image of a hospital in the metropolitan area of Seoul.

"If you watched his press conference last week you would have noticed that he never mentioned the faulty magic sensors as the cause of death for his recruits. This is because he still wants to keep good relations with our organisation, but he still hides things from us."

Tae Shik looked through the various papers in the file whilst his superior spoke. The hospital discharge paper that caught his eye labelled Choi Jong-In as the guardian of someone named Sasuke Uchiha. "Strange, isn't it?" he looked up at Jin Chul, "Choi Jong-In's file never made mention of any wards or relatives in Japan before this incident. Looking into this Sasuke Uchiha person through our hunter and government databases, we found that Sasuke Uchiha was an unrecognisable name," Jin Chul explained with an edge to his tone.

The purple-haired agent shot a look at Jin Chul, "So, you want me to look into it? He is an S-rank hunter, you know?"

Jin Chul nodded, but he never would have come to Gang Tae Shik if he believed that he would have been caught. He has been the Association's best recruit since being offered the position and was a B-rank assassin class hunter. He could do his fair share of snooping around, but not like Tae Shik could.

"We find it suspicious that Choi Jong-In would adopt some random Japanese kid from the hospital after losing nearly all his, potentially, new recruits. It might not have anything to do with it, but I believe it might have something to do with it."

Choi Jong-In has been amassing tons of power for his guild after enlisting the services of recently evaluated S-rank hunter, Cha Hae-In who was rumoured to be stronger than even himself. It was their job as the monitoring division to keep the balance of power in check or else the Ultimate Soldier might gain enough power to overthrow the South Korean government.

"I got it, I got it. But since I'm being forced to spy on an S-rank hunter I think my bonuses for the next few months should increase by 15%. It's the least you can do," Tae Shik smugly demanded, he was a greedy person at heart and would do anything if it benefitted or satisfied him in the long run and this was a character flaw that Jin Chul was familiar with. His neutral expression shifted to a grimace at the reminder of his greedy nature.

"That can be arranged. Just do your job or you can kiss those bonuses goodbye," the orange-haired chief ordered, leaving the room and Tae Shik to his thoughts.

"Ah, would you look at that? Time to get outta here..." he said happily, having taken a glance at the clock above the door.

[Camouflage]

His entire being disappeared, becoming visually and magically invisible to the whole world, almost as if he never existed in the first place. This was his special skill, a skill he kept close to his chest that only his enemies had ever seen (they were all dead), so no one should know about it. The fact that he was picked for this assignment might mean that Chief Jin Chul suspects he has such an ability or that he believes his stealth capabilities could exceed even an S-rank hunter's sense.

Moving outside the building filled with high-grade magic sensors and hunters without anybody noticing, leaping to a rooftop to gaze at the streets below and think. He finally released his technique, sitting down on the rooftop ledge in thought. He felt that this would be a most interesting assignment or at least he hoped. Pulling out the file from his suit he thought to himself.

'Who are you, Sasuke Uchiha?'

One month later...

Sasuke wiped the sweat that was dripping off his chin, glaring at the hole in the wall ahead of him caused by his Chidori. The mansion's training room was filled to the brim with black scorch marks caused by his lightning and fire-style ninjutsu.

"It's been five hours, Mr. Sasuke. I think it's time for some rest," he heard the voice of Kil Nari call out to him. She stood at the entrance of the room in her casual red shirt and black jeans. She was meant to keep an eye on him whilst Choi was out and about raiding dungeons or doing guild work.

She was also his teacher educating him on the workings of hunter society like guilds, the different hunter rankings and classes, the Hunter's Association and what purpose they serve to the country and keeping the balance.

"I won't heal you this time and that will leave you bedridden for the next two days from exhaustion. I can see that you won't be able to carry on much longer," she said adamantly to get him to rest. Sasuke shot her his best dirty look before relenting to her demand.

He wouldn't get much done anyway with his low chakra reserves if Nari refused to heal him. His Chidori stream had been coming along great with him being able to increase the potency and effect of its current. Performing such a high level shape transformation was immensely difficult without someone to guide him and it left him doing a lot of trial and error, which left him in a nearly catatonic state after every failed session for the past month.

'That's probably why she's so adamant,' Sasuke could understand her sentiments, with her being tasked with watching over him and all, but that didn't mean he was happy about it.

Making their way upstairs, Sasuke in bounds of pain making the long trek upstairs even though he'd never admit it, they were greeted with the sight of Choi Jong-In walking into the main hall.

"Master Choi! How was your day, sir," Kil Nari exclaimed, immediately standing up at attention. Sasuke stayed silent watching the fire magician take off his long flowing white cape.

"Oh, I wasn't expecting to see two for another hour. It seems you cut your training short, Sasuke?" Choi asked the two.

"Begrudgingly..." Sasuke answered plainly, taking note of Nari's side eyed stare. "Well, since you're here I might as well tell you what I have planned in the next few days," Choi said, happily clapping his hands together.

"Am I finally going to be able to obtain my hunters licence?" Sasuke questioned.

"That too, but I've got your new school right here and your acceptance papers to Seoul High School. This was the result of our deal for gaining your hunter licence," Choi said seriously, referring back to the time Sasuke said he wanted to raid dungeons.

He didn't like the way that Sasuke had isolated himself and he needed him to develop some proper people skills when he came of age to join his high-ranking attack force in the future. He believed the best way to do that was to take him to school but never knew how to convince him until the young teenager presented him with the opportunity.

"I don't need to go to... School," Sasuke spat the word as if it was venom in his tongue. What was Choi's goal by sending him to this high school? Surely it wasn't for education that he didn't need or was it something as trivial as socialising. He scoffed at the thought, but if this was the only way to get the man to, begrudgingly, let him get his hunter licence then this was a necessary step.

"So, on Monday you will be accompanied by Kil Nari and then at the end of the day you can take him to the Association to get his rank evaluated. Not anytime before, got that," he ordered strictly, shooting a pointed look at Sasuke already knowing that he was thinking of skipping his first day.

Sasuke just hummed and walked off to his room.

"That kid..." Choi murmured to himself watching the boy's bruised form.
