Sasuke broke the protruding arrow off his body and activated the curse mark, letting the strange black markings cover his entire body from head to toe.

'These guys are all on a completely different level from all the other creatures here.' Sasuke glared at the elves watching them leap down from their perches within the trees. He would need all of his powers to get out of this predicament and even in the worst case scenario... Run away.

He flipped back avoiding a volley of arrows shot at him, he then put his arms up in a cross guard because the arrows exploded upon making contact with the ground.

He was sent tumbling back a couple of metres away from the red portal. Seeing that he was being flanked by a bulky elf he sprung up and landed a heel right on its jaw and pushed it high into the air. Weaving several hand signs to superheat the chakra within his body.

[Fire Style: Phoenix Flower Jutsu]

Multiple balls of fire were spit from his mouth towards various targets causing them to get blown back by the concussive force.

"Hahaha... What an interesting human you are!" the leader elf laughed with that cheshire grin on its face. Sasuke landed gracefully on the ground watching as his opponents began to recover from his fireball barrage.

"I can't say I've ever been glad to have someone to talk to..." Sasuke saw the elf's eyes widen a fraction at his words. "You can speak our tongue? No...rather you understand what it is I'm saying. Very interesting!"

"So, what's your deal? Did I step into your territory or something?" Sasuke asked very nonchalantly, as if he was speaking about the weather. He had grown tired of everything in this damn forest trying to kill him and he was wanting answers for his trouble.

"Yes and no." it replied, fixing up the green cap on its pointy eared head. "You see we have this voice in our heads..."

'Voice?' Sasuke raised a brow.

"... It tells us to kill humans and since you're a human... Well, we have to kill you." it explained jabbing a thumb at its head for emphasis. Sasuke stayed silent with a calculating look in his scarlet eyes, trying to forge a scenario where gets out of here in one piece.

"So I'm assuming it's you guys that ambushed those guys back there with a serpent. I found wounds only an arrow could make on the corpses, I thought that maybe they had fired at each other by accident, but that seemed unlikely," he said, knowing that there was a third party involved with those strangers, but it honestly could have been any number of creatures within the forest.

"That's right, it was us. We're patrolling for any strong adversaries but they were all trash, however you aren't trash so we'll play with you a little," the elf explained, confirming all of Sasuke's thoughts and theories about those strangers in strange armour.

'He likes to talk, but thanks to that I was able to replenish some of my reserves,'. He channelled chakra into the soles of his feet and attempted to blitz the leader elf with body flicker.

His surprise attack was easily seen through and blocked by the elf as he held Sasuke's arm in his grasp. The two were locked in a struggle and the elf saw it fit for an exchange of names. "A very interesting guy indeed! The names Ivar and you...?"

"Sasuke Uchiha."

"Is this all there is to offer at the moment?" Cha Hae-In questioned, covering her nose with a handkerchief. One of the few people in the world to be able to smell mana, but that meant the smell of other hunters and monsters was foul to her.

Cha Hae-In was an attractive woman with grey coloured eyes and blonde hair in a bob cut. She was relatively short in height with a slender, athletic build and a large chest.

It was midnight when she had received the summons from Master Choi Jong-In, she was exhausted and tired from blocking her nose all day. She would always make time to help out her fellow guildmates if they were in danger, so she had quickly thrown on her red form-fitting body armour with her favoured silver hilted black sword sheathed at her side

But she was really hoping for a good night's rest from all the work she'd put in the past few days.

'Don't they have anyone else other than me?' she thought in annoyance.

"Yes, Vice Master Hae-In! A squad filled with the best B-rank hunters the guild has to offer and two A-rank healers!" Miss Kil Nari explained with her usual professional and respectful tone. It seems that she had done a lot between the time Master Choi had left and when she had arrived.

'They'll have to suffice.' She decided, looking at the group of hunters ahead of her, they looked pumped up and ready to prove themselves. As an S-rank hunter, she didn't really need their help. From the smell of it this was nothing more than a B-rank gate, but rules were rules.

The S-rank hunter clenched her blade tightly, maybe this would be a good opportunity to test out her blade dance if the members on the other side of red gate didn't make it.

The two broke off from each other and then Sasuke was forced to block blows coming from his left and right. He did so and rotated his body so nimbly that the two elves would crash into each other and then bash their skulls together, knocking them out.

He caught an arrow from his blindside but it exploded sending him back first into a tree, snapping it in two.

'Urgh, right... Explosive arrows.' Sasuke groaned, getting up from the hard hitting blow. An arrow narrowly missed taking his left eye and instead cut his cheek. 'Ah, shit..!' he quickly leaped out of the way before the arrow exploded and headed deeper into the forest. He was a prideful person but even he knew when the odds weren't in his favour and the odds were severely stacked against him.

"Running are we? After him!" Ivar commanded his subordinates with a wave of his hand. They leaped into the trees after Sasuke Uchiha.

Sasuke chanced a glance behind him and noticed that the elves were hot on his tail. 'Hoh, persistent bastards!' he weaved through a couple hand seals and felt lightning chakra gathered within the palm of his left hand.

[Chidori]

'I probably have 3 left in me... No more like 2 with my current reserves. Well, I better make it count regardless!'

Landing on a branch he turned on a dime, charging right back at his pursuers. He blitzed them with the enhanced speed required to use the Chidori and sliced cleanly through three of them before his technique dissipated.

Two more came to meet him in hand to hand combat, but were no match for him. Twisting the knife right out of the elf's grasp, he used to cut it and its partners head off simultaneously with a single swift rotation.

Three arrows landed at his feet causing him to flip off the branch onto the ground. 'Those archers are getting really annoying!' Sasuke's sharingan scanned the area and spotted 5 energy signatures spread apart from each other. They must have been the archers keeping their distance and numbers separated.

'Time for a little shinobi deception...' Sasuke smirked, weaving a few hand seals.

[Transformation Jutsu]

He had managed to transform himself into an elf identical to the ones he had killed previously. Hopefully they wouldn't see through him so easily.

Putting his plan into action, he leaped forth towards one of the archers closet to him.

"Ah, Aksel. Did you manage to take out the human?" The archer questioned but 'Aksel' didn't respond. This put the elf archer on guard as 'Aksel' continued to close in on him.

A burst of smoke obscured his vision and the last thing he saw was scarlet eyes before his head fell off his shoulders.

Sasuke then pulled off the archer's equipment and strapped them on for himself. 'Let's how you like being shot at?' he pulled back on the bow string and launched an arrow to his left with deadly precision.

An explosion 15 metres to the left of him.

Another one 14 metres behind him.

Then the next being 16 metres away.

And the last being 25 metres to the right.

Sasuke let out a little smile, thinking back to the good old days when he had handled a bow and arrow. That particular mission with Ita... He abruptly frowned, snapping the bow in half and throwing away the quiver of explosive arrows. Leaping off in the direction of the red portal knowing that, that was where Ivar was.
