The Voices

The symbol of the sun started turning, slowly opening the door. The door creaked open and there was another altar in the middle of the room. The room was built like a square, water spewing from each corner of the room that streamed into the middle of the room where the altar was. On all of the 3 walls, there were glass murals of Nana, Lin and someone else, a woman with a large crescent shaped necklace on her chest. Nana approached the altar, stepping into the water. Atop the cold stone slab stood a thick white book. Its corners lined with gold, though, no text was found on the cover of the book.

"What the hell is this?" Nana said, inspecting the book. "Is that me?" Nana looks at the murals. She looks at Lin. "He looks uglier in glass." Nana turned around. "This is far too creepy for me, I'm getting ou-" As Nana turned, the doors that were behind her disappeared, a large stone brick wall had replaced it. Nana was trapped in this room. As she started panicking she picked up the book. Suddenly a current went through her body. "Ow!" Nana cried out in pain. There was a sharp pain in her forehead. He moved his hair and blood started spewing out. There were horns growing out of her head, resembling that of a dragons. Gill's appeared on her body, resembling those of a hydra. Fangs appeared in her mouth, resembling that of a cerberus. Bright wings grew out of her back, resembling those a phoenix.

"The future is bleak. Free this world of its mistakes and flaws." Lin appeared infront of Nana. He's weird, he's not normal, his eyes were a deep purple.

Ring! Ring!

Nana awoke in a cold sweat, she was lying in her bed. She had a nightmare. It was 7 am.

"Good morning, you're making breakfast today right?" Lin yawned, "I'm starving." Lin rubbed his eyes.

"What? What happened?" Nana asked Lin frantically.

"You're just making breakfast, what's the big deal? I could go for some Star Thorn fries though, heard they're in this season." Lin climbed down his bunk bed to the floor, "We should organis-"

"Cut the crap Lin, you know exactly what you're doing, what happened?" Nana grabbed Lin by his shoulder. Lin was visibly confused.

"What's happening to you Nana? Just last night you were making a potion, did you accidentally make the bitch potion?" Lin said sarcastically.

"No, that was the day before yesterday. Don't you remember what happened yesterday? When we went to the library you brought me to?" Nana was sweating profusely.

"What library? Nana you're acting weird, if you don't want to cook breakfast then be it, I'm going out for a bit, apparently they want to find some lost dog and they need me. Me, of all people, the great one and only Lin, to catch dogs? they should really treat their best students better." Lin said angrily as he took his coat and stormed out of the room, stomping his foot on the wooden floor.

"Wait! What day is today?" Nana was hoping for the best.

"Well, let's see, the 14th?" Lin said looking at his watch, "I should really get going, you should go out for some fresh air too, you've been acting all weird this morning."

The whole thing about the cerberus and the library was just a nightmare, but it seemed too real to be one. She quickly went to underneath her desk, opening the box she had hid the Orin Potion in.

When she opened it a large ray of light burst into the room. "No, this can't be right, I did this yesterday." Nana said calmly, but within, she was panicking, "If I'm right, and I hope I'm not, a cerberus is going to appear in front of my window in three..." Nana looks in suspense at the window. "Twoooooo..." She dragged her words out. "ONE!"

"WORF! WORF!" The sound came from outside the window.

Nana grabbed the potion and jumped out of the window without a second thought, shoving the Orin Potion into its gullet.

"Come back! Bad boy, Bad!" Reina said as she tugged the tail of the cerberus. "C'mon Gin, be a good boy and behave okay?" She spoke through her teeth. She suddenly let go. The cerberus had collapsed and fallen asleep, Nana emerged from the window of the tower, "That was quick, you're a natural, how'd you know Orin Potions make dogs sleepy?"

"Reina, why're you here again?" Nana denied to accept the truth.

"How'd you know my name? Did I introduce myself already? There you go with the whole first impression thing Reina, you're great" Reina said.

The sun was just rising and casting a shadow on all of Laftis. The fairies in the sky lit up the sun rise in a large display of lights.

"What's your name? I didn't catch it earlier." Reina reached her hand out for a handshake.

"You already know me, we met yesterday." Nana thought to herself, it couldn't of had been a dream, she vividly remembered all of this happening, "You're playing a prank with Lin on me aren't you? This isn't funny" Nana didn't shake her hand.

"Who is Lin? Look okay, I'm just here to capture some dog okay, I don't know." Reina said, "C'mon Gin, let's go home."

"The future is bleak" A voice spoke to Nana, she got on her knees and covered her ears, "Free this w-"

"STOP!" Nana shouted. "I don't know what kind of cruel joke this is."

"Do not be afraid." The voice spoke again, unmistakably being inside Nana's own head.

"What are you doing out here? It's cold, apparently they caught the dog before I could, what a waste of time." Lin approached Nana, "You alright? Do you have a headache?"

"The voices, they're in my head." Nana replied, "They're talking to me, I can't stop them."

"You're going crazy, must be that potion you made." Lin joked

"I'M NOT KIDDING!" Nana snapped, "No, there has to be a reason, I'm going back."

"Going back where? Hey! Don't leave me!" Lin said as he tried to follow Nana.

"DO NOT FOLLOW ME!" Nana shouted at Lin, "You caused this."

Lin was left in confusion and disarray.

Nana had followed the exact same path as they did the last time, crawling through tiny dark alleys. "Do not resist." The voice in her head became clearer and louder.

As Nana approached the same place as she had gone, she found herself stood infront of a regular door. Everything was the same, she could see the exact spider in the corner making the exact same spiderweb, but the door was different, it was just a regular old wooden door. She opened it and it was a janitors closet, a mop stood next to the wall, a bucket of water in the corner.

"Can I help you with anything?" The school janitor approached from behind her.

"Don't touch me!" Nana shouted at the janitor, "sorry,"

"Kids these days, I don't understand them" The janitor told himself.

"Do not resist." The voice remained inside her head. "When the sun and moon align, so do pain and suffering. When the clock hits nine, the truth shall appear on the shrine. When the night seems the darkest, the moon shall shine."
