It had been a few weeks since, Gennie arrived at the farm. She had really taken to the place. She had made friends with a girl named Enid and her Mother Sarah took her under her wing and taught her all about farming. Emily showed up about a week after Gennie and freaked out when she saw Katie.

Katie just sighed and hugged the other woman. "You're safe here, Emily. Gennie is doing well here and thriving. You'll both be safe here until David is caught." She had handed her over to Gennie, Sarah and Enid. They would share the cabin on the opposite side of the farm near the school. Emily had eventually relaxed and was adjusting well. She and Sarah were even taking college courses online while their daughters finished high school the same way. Even if they ended up with new identities and moved to another location, they would have the education and skills needed survive whatever.

Katie looked up from her stall mucking at the sound of someone clearing their throat.
