Over the next few weeks they settled into a routine. Chad and the Lawrence's worked out an exchange schedule that freed him up to be with Amanda more. He didn't pick her up from school anymore. That was left to the Lawrence's. She rode in with him on his lunch break on Tuesdays and Thursdays but on Mondays and Wednesdays, she was with the Lawrence's all day as long as she checked in with him by text or called or something.

She hadn't had anymore death threats at school or anywhere else since she moved out of her mother's place, nor had she heard from her mother or any of her other relatives since then, either. She wondered if that whole incident had been engineered by her mother and her Aunt Jan to force the state's hand at getting her moved out? She wouldn't put it past them.
