“I don’t need your help on this case.”

::Dr. Chen disagrees with you.::

“You have to stop haunting me, Andrew. You have to go away. Go back where you came from. I can’t live this way.”

::Find the Highwayman, brother. Reach into your soul and find him. He’s right at your nose. Sniff him out.::

Damian closed his eyes and counted to three under his breath. Dr. Chen taught him how to do this. Chen said that when he opened his eyes and stopped counting, Andrew would be gone. Chen called the action something that Damian couldn’t remember. It was wordy and had everything to do with psychology. A necessary exercise that was real. A technique to cure him of Andrew’s ghostly appearances.

Damian opened his eyes. His brother was gone, vanished. He wiped a hand over his face and drew sweat away, and then he decided to get up and out of the bed to sketch, ready to look into the depths of his soul. 28: Time and Place
