'No response, huh? There wasn't even a headache like last time. This means that this guy is still asleep! He did say he would wake up after three weeks, so I would only have to bear just three more days!
'Today is the fourth day of the week 33. This would be similar to mid-August on Earth, a Thursday. According to the elders, to reach to the city, I would have to cross an ocean which might mean that I'm currently in a different continent.
'I don't know how I would reach the city or if I would ever reach the city! I would head further south as long as the sun is in the sky. After that, I would see which star is pointing in that direction and head towards that star.'
My thoughts didn't end there; instead, they drifted into another direction. The one which was filled with varieties of curses directed at the goddess Psais and Delta. If they ever came to know of them, I would have to face things worse than death!
According to the Candela Clock, it was now around one in the afternoon. By now I was well rested and had completely regained my stamina. While resting, I was looking at my status window and then I noticed something.
'Oh yeah! There was this too that I forgot to check!'
A small diary was then placed on my palms by the inventory according to my command. Unwinding the thread that was keeping it closed, I opened the 'Monster Encyclopedia'.
It was the encyclopedia which the princess had given me along with the dagger. She told me that it was copied by her from the diary of the Minder which came to the village.
The diary had details regarding eleven monsters. Each monster was clearly drawn under their names. The diagrams were so clear that they even looked alive!
I noticed that the book was not actually written in English but some other kind of mysterious symbols were used to write it. However, I was able to easily understand those symbols. It felt natural.
'Come to think of it, the language that I had been using was also not English. It felt so natural due to Alex's memories, that I never actually realized I was speaking a mysterious language! The name of this language is 'Narle'.'
The diary held details like the appearance, habitats, basic characters, their likes and dislikes, whether their meat was edible or not, whether the monster was poisonous or venomous, if it was a carnivore or a herbivore and various other kinds of information.
As I quickly glanced through the diary, a green pop window appeared, pointing at the diary.
[The knowledge in this diary has now been assimilated with the System. You can now check the details about the eleven creatures mentioned in the diary. It will be displayed in the similar fashion as that of the starlight fruits.]
Moments after I finished reading the message, the screen disappeared.
'So if there was a plant or animal I knew about whether by reading or from a skill or by any other method, the status window will show their details just like those in games. However, it's useless as it will show the details about things that I already knew and not about something I didn't know!'
My thoughts drifted back into the curses to calm my mind.
Eventhough the system was providing me knowledge from the book I haven't even read yet, I still went through it
The details were pretty well written and I noticed that most of the monsters resembled animals from Earth. However, their names were completely different!
For reference, there was this detail about a beast called, 'Mokaka', the one that the Princess had called me infront of the knights. This beast clearly resembled a monkey! It was even a herbivore and were harmless to humans, just like the Lakéquses.
After finishing the diary, I put it back into the inventory. Then, I carefully moved back onto the ground. Once I was on the ground, I took on a running pose and whispered into the air, "Agility!"
…
Even after waiting for a few seconds, nothing happened.
'Maybe it would work when I'm actually running and then increase my speed so I could run faster. But, currently I'm wounded, I can't even walk properly how would I run?'
After contemplating on my situation, I picked up the stick and with its support, I moved towards the tree which was drying my clothes.
On the trunk of it, there was a dart. With some difficulty, I managed to remove it but the nail was now slightly dulled. Nevertheless, I placed it back in the inventory and looked at the clothes.
Some of the clothes including the leather armor had now dried up while some were still pretty wet. I wore the armor and placed the others back into the inventory.
'Sigh! I could only slightly protect my chest and the back. My head is still wide open for attacks. In the name of protection, my legs are only covered by pants and my feet are protected by a worn-out, skimpy pair of shoes! I don't know if this would be enough but this is all I have.'
Putting my monologue aside, I took out the jacket and the belt and wore them. All the other stuffs were kept in the inventory except one of each bottle in their respective bags on the belt, a pocket full of darts and half of the metallic bullets in the jacket.
As soon as I got ready, I looked at the sun. After noticing its inclination, I started to move south.
'Let's see where my footsteps take me…'
***
Rustle! Rustle!
After the rustling in the green bushes, a creature popped out of it. It was pure white in color with deep ocean blue eyes. Its appearance was similar to a bunny but it was fatter and its ears were longer.
With quick yet calculated footsteps, the beast moved towards a yellow fruit lying on the grass. Occasionally, it would stop and raise its nose to smell any danger around it.
While focusing on the beast, I lip-synced without making any sound, "Facts!". Just as I gave that command, a green screen appeared above the monster, pointing at it. Although the words were about four meters away, they were still clearly visible to me.
[Name: Oryctola
Rank: G
Type: Beast
Likes: Zenetta grass, Yellow Starlight Fruits
Dislikes: Lupus (its predator)
--------
Details:
These are small herbivore creatures with nutritious flesh. They are very agile and thus, are difficult to catch but easy to trap. They have a very high fertility rate. All of their body parts are useful, especially their blue eyes. Their size and agility increases with age.]
The rabbits were named 'Oryctola' in this world. They were, in fact, actually cuter than those back on earth.
I looked at it as it moved closer to the fruit and as it started eating it rapidly. Rabbits weren't like squirrels so they didn't store food and would eat it at the same place, this beast was no different.
As my arm was now starting to hurt, I left my grip from the bone of the Baruga. The plain dart with no concoction on it, shot forward.
Bang!
Whoosh!
Puchi!
It precisely struck the Oryctola's head, penetrating and jamming itself in its brains. The beast immediately dropped dead. It was a precise headshot.
'On Earth, I had actually chased and caught rabbits as Sister Trisha kept them as pets. But this guy was too fast! I had been chasing this guy for three whole days! It was as if I was trying to catch a fly but always missing. Finally, with the help of the details in the monster encyclopedia and sacrificing one of my yellow fruits, I managed to hunt it down.'
I put my thoughts aside and picked up the Oryctola with its ears and moved towards an empty area while holding it. Meanwhile, I also placed the half eaten fruit in my slot 9. I was planning to use it again.
My head had only one thought inside of it, 'Meat!' It had already been so many days of me being on a vegetarian diet! I needed protein!
These pass 3 days passed rather quickly. All I did was train and travel. I didn't even bathe all that time!
After the sun had set in a beautiful sunset, I noticed a pink star in the dark sky which was facing south and started following it. As I had mentioned before, the stars were stationary here so the star would obviously not change the position.
However, there was still a problem; the number of stars was too high! Also, there were multiple stars of the same color in the sky facing different directions. If I were to lose my focus, I would lose my way. I even slept while facing the star so when I woke up, it would be the first thing I would see.
Walking through the starlit grasses and bushes, I reached a clearing. It was just a simple clearing where I had planned to cook this thing and rest for a while.
I was slowly getting accustomed to the life in the wild. My legs had even healed quite significantly. I was now able to walk properly without any support but running was still out of the menu. If I could, I would have just activated 'Agility' and caught the Oryctola instead of wasting a dart!
Just as I entered the clearing, I felt a sudden and very minute soothing energy filling my body. It disappeared just as it came and a male robotic voice resounded in my ears.
- "Delta is at host's service."
