Adoption Papers

I get to my office and open my computer to basically make adoption papers. If she wants me to keep him I will. After a while I hear a knock.

"It's Everett, sir."

"Come in."

"It's done."

"Give it to Dr. Sanna."

"Why?"

"So it can be used on Luckus."

"Alright sir." Everett looks up the time. "Should I bring Akira home?"

"What time is it?"

"9:30, but I don't know if they have lunch at 10 or not."

"No, I want you to take her back at 10."

"Yes, sir."

"Also, I want you to bring Luckus here when you go to take Akira home."

"Yes, sir." With that he left.

After almost 40 minutes I finish with the papers and I print them out. I double check to make sure everything is there. By the time I'm done I hear Everett knock on my door. I opened the door, gave him the papers, and told him what he needed to do with them. I sit back down as I call Luckus over.

"Why am I here?"

"I have some more work to get done but I don't want to leave you alone, so I have a few coloring books if you want to color." I go to grab the books.

"Are you sure you're not a dad?"

"Yes, I'm sure."

"Then why do you have coloring books?"

"They are a good reason to pass the time."

"I didn't think you would color."

"Many don't."

"Thank you."

"For?" I walk over to him and hand him the books. I turn around to get colored pencils.

"Let me stay with you and the coloring books."

"You're welcome." I find the colored pencils and give them to him. I go back to my seat and sit down, resuming my work.

After about 35 minuets later, I hear a knock on my door. Luckus jumps and looks at the door.

"Who is it?"

"Everett."

"Come in."

"I got her to sign the papers. It was relatively easy."

"Give them here." Everett walks to my desk and hands me the papers.

"Anything else?"

"No."

"Can you deliver this?" I pull out some papers. Everett takes them.

"Where to?"

"They have where to go on them, the top right-hand corner."

"I will be taking my leave then."

Everett leaves to go deliver the papers. Luckus turns to look at me before getting up and walking to my desk.

"What are those papers for?" Luckus pointed at the papers on my desk.

"Sort of like adoption papers."

"For?"

"You."

"Really?" Luckus looks at me with a huge smile on his face.

"Yes. I said I would be your dad, did I not?"

"I didn't think you would. I thought you said that to comfort me."

"Well, I was being serious."

"Was it my mom who signed them?"

"Yep."

"Have you signed them?"

"I am going to."

"Why didn't you sign them before?"

"She doesn't need to know my name."

"Why not?"

"We are most likely to never interact again."

"Oh, alright."

"Why don't you go back to coloring?"
