Chapter 6: Clingy sleep hugs

"That's..how you met him?"

"Yeah. A little weird looking back and then seeing what came of it..especially since he was just a strange man on top of my roof."

"Must have been strange for you."

"During that time, it was...Did I care though? No, I had to go to work in the morning! Plus, I kinda fell asleep before I could do anything else." A laugh followed after the words.

"And that dream, its when you-"

"Yes. Now, that was a very strange moment that I'll never forget."

"Mm...So, what happened next?"

"Well.."

Thursday, 6:56 am. 1994, the 3rd of March. Earth.

Angel's breath was slow and soft as she woke up trying to figure out where she was right then, and wondering if she was dreaming still. The last thing she remembered was being on a hill at Zapple with the huge wolf, just the two of them sitting in silence with the stars starting to appear in the dark sky of the dream world, a world the wolf said to have control of. Now, laid on something soft and wrapped up in warmth, she could only guess she was in bed with a blanket over her and that meant Maxine had stitched her hand up and tucked her into bed. She was on Earth and in her house then, safe and protected. She knew she needed to get up and leave the warmth of her bed, stirring to get her body to wake up and as she did, she became more aware that her ear was twitching from warm air hitting it. Her face scrunched up, not understanding what the air was and trying to turn toward it. Once she managed to do so, something around her waist and hips pulled her closer to something very warm, it felt like a mushy wall. Did mushy walls even exist? Angel didn't want an answer at that moment, snuggling closer to the warmth it gave out. It was nice and cozy, way too cozy to ruin the feeling of it by opening her eyes or moving away. Though when she heard a deep sigh, something resting itself on top of her head and something wrapping tighter around her, her eyes snapped open. A body. Another person was holding her against them. Her tail fluffed up, her arms moving out from under the person's and going to their chest to force herself away from them. She got a small glimpse of who it was before their arms forced her back against them. She winced, her chest squished painfully against theirs from the tight hold they had but she pushed the pain away while her mind tried to recognize who was holding her. It clicked after a bit. The male from last night, he was holding her, in her bed, while they both were asleep. She couldn't believe this. Angel closed her eyes, hoping it was just another dream but the truth smacked her that it wasn't when another sigh reached her ears and the male stirred. Her eyes opened wide, a gasp forced out of her as he turned onto his back and took her with him, red covering over her freckled cheeks and nose when she found herself laying on top of him. This couldn't be happening. She began to struggle, growling as she desperately tried to get herself away but the male was strong, even in his sleep. She had to give up, breathing heavily as she glared at the wall in frustration. She hated being frustrated in the morning, most of the time it meant the rest of the day was going to be worse and she really did not want today to be one of the bad days.

A sudden high pitch beep started up causing Angel to jump and yelp, the male under her unfazed by the beeping. The sound was from her alarm clock, but if it was going off that meant it was seven in the morning and she was going to be late for work. She was usually up and ready for work by the time it goes off, she only had it set if she slept in because then it would give her enough time to get dressed and to work with a minute to spare before her shift started. She moved her head out from under the male's and looked at the bedside table where the alarm clock was reading seven o' two. She had less than an hour to get ready and get to work, she was pretty sure she wasn't going to make it. The male mumbled something under his breath and one of his hands moved away from around her and to the bedside table. Angel watched as his hand moved across the table and knocked the alarm clock to the floor. The black box hit the floor with a bad crack sound and Angel felt her tail fluff up as anger fogged up her mind from knowing the alarm had to be broken. Just to be sure, she moved as much as she could to look at the floor and gritted her teeth when she saw the alarm with its glass screen cracked and a few pieces of black surrounding it. She felt a growing need to bite the male's hand when his arm wrapped back around her but that would probably be a bad thing to do. So, out comes a shout. "WAKE THE FUCK UP!" She let out her anger in a scream and made the male jolt awake with his gray eyes wide and darting around, possibly in shock from being screamed awake but the she-wolf didn't care. She was right on the line going from anger to furious, it was not a good line to be at. "Let me go, now." She demanded, her hands clenching into fists as an attempt to control her urge to punch the male's face and she didn't let up when pain shot through her bandaged left hand. She might do something she'll regret if self-control wasn't in the situation and it almost wasn't. The male looked at her in confusion before he groaned and laid his head back down, his arms wrapping tighter around her. "Just go back to sleep.." Angel realized he wasn't fully awake when he mumbled in a sleepy yet deep voice that caused her to shiver, and when he was back asleep just a few seconds later. Her eyebrows knitted together as she stared hard in disbelief at the peaceful face he had, hoping to hell he was joking but knowing otherwise that he wasn't because he didn't know her and she didn't know him. That was another reason she wanted away from him though, he was a stranger! She growled, starting to struggle to get away with her hands pushing on him as much as they could. The problem though, his grip was too strong or she was really weak, either way, it was a fruitless attempt. "Let.Me.Go!" She said after three more hard pushes on him but he just mumbled and was unfazed by her pushes, her hand wasn't unfazed however and she had to stop as a sharp pain shocked her left hand. "Ow.." She whimpered.

A chuckle came from the doorway of the room, Angel's ears folding backward before she tried to turn her head to see who it was. She caught a glimpse of Maxine before the pain of turning her head too far made her turn back. "Well..you two are more friendly than I thought." Maxine teased. Angel whined, wiggling to get away again but a groan from the male stopped her as his hold on her waist tightened even more. Maxine walked over to the side of the bed, Angel looking over with a helpless look. "H-help." She whimpered. The demon smiled reassuringly before walking away somewhere Angel couldn't see, the she-wolf didn't feel reassured, she just knew she was going to be late for work at this rate. The male began to stir, his face scrunching up a bit as his hold tightened more and squished Angel closer, making her wince. "No..." He mumbled, going still for only a second before he was abruptly pulled off the bed. Angel gasped as he took her with him when he tumbled to the floor. She yelped, her front landing on her bandaged hand, and a back landed on her tail, tears stung her eyes from the pain shooting up her back and making her try to wiggle away from what was causing it. The male kept an arm tight around her stomach and rubbed his eyes with the other, Angel cursing internally about how he couldn't just let go of her. "Ow-What the hell, Maxine!" He yelled before groaning as he rubbed his head, apparently having pain there. His pain was nothing compared to what Angel felt, her tail felt like it was being ripped off and the bones in her hand felt ready to snap. Maxine walked over while the male struggled to get the sleep out of his eyes and tapped sharply at his head, making him flinch and open his eyes into a glare. "What?" He asked harshly, obviously not happy about being woken up. The glare didn't faze the demon as she pointed to Angel. "Let go of her so she can get ready for work." She told him, a glare of her own challenging his. He looked over to Angel, shock flashing in his eyes at the sight of the girl on top of him. He wondered how he didn't notice her, or at least that's something Angel wondered. "Oh." He muttered before finally letting go. Angel shot up the moment she felt free and her knee hit his thigh as she tried to get onto her feet. "Ow.." He groaned but it was drowned out by a yelp Angel let out, her body jerking forward and her face planting into the floor.

Maxine covered her mouth to hold back a laugh, Angel glaring at her while pain ran through her tail and back. The male glared at the demon as well, letting out a low growl of annoyance. Maxine looked over at Angel when the she-wolf remembered she had to be somewhere and tried to get up again, only to yelp from the pain shocking her back down. The she-demon walked over and kneeled down. "Why are you yelping?" She asked. "It feels like my spine is being ripped out.." Angel whimpered, closing her eyes. Maxine frowned, not liking to see the she-wolf in pain and wanted to know why. She looked up, her eyes scanning over the wolf before she gasped. "Roy!" She yelled, panic flooding her now wide eyes. He looked over confused and unconcerned. "What?" He asked, unaware of the panic and where she was staring. "You're sitting on her tail!" She screamed, him finally looking down to see that he was indeed on the black tail belonging to Angel. A simple "Oh." came from him and Maxine went over to him, frantically gesturing with her arms for him to get up. "Don't just 'oh'! Get off of it!" She screamed at him. The male didn't rush in getting up but once he was off of it, Angel gasped as prickles of pins and needles struck as blood flowed through it again. "Are you okay now?" Maxine asked with full concern, going back and kneeling in front of Angel. Angel slowly nodded, placing her hands on the floor and pushing herself up with Maxine grabbing her forearm and helping her stand. Angel smiled at Maxine to thank her but once she was up, she broke away from Maxine's hold and went over to her dresser, throwing open the drawers and looking through them. "What are you looking for?" Maxine asked, walking over and watching the wolf pick through each piece of clothing she owned. "I'm looking for my work uniform, I gotta get dressed now or I'll be late." She explained, rushing herself to find the uniform. Maxine looked around, her tail flicking as she scanned the room before her eyes were back on the dresser, finding a dress hanging up on the mirror part of it and she could only guess that was what the wolf was talking about. She reached over Angel and took the hanger from behind the mirror before pulling it away. "You mean this uniform?" Maxine asked, holding the hanger up by her pointer finger. Angel looked up, pausing her attack on the helpless clothes in the dresser and her eyes lit up when she saw the uniform. "Yes! That is it, thank you!" Angel smiled, snatching the hanger from Maxine when she held it out before she ran off to the bathroom, being in too much of a rush to even close the bathroom door. Angel was very quick to throw off her tank top and shorts, throwing them into the bathroom's hamper.

Maxine smirked, watching the male get up and still glare at her. "You didn't have to pull me out of bed to let her go." He said. Maxine rolled her eyes as he complained before she flicked his head. He flinched, glaring more at her. "Yes, I did. I heard her screaming for you to let her go and you didn't." She said. He looked very annoyed right then, Maxine smiled knowing she won that little argument before she walked around him. She went beside the bed and kneeled to the floor, the male following and standing beside her as she picked up something and studied it. "What are you doing?" He asked. Maxine sighed, looking up at him. "You broke her alarm clock, no wonder she screamed at you." She said. The male frowned and rubbed the back of his neck, looking at the clock with a guilty expression. "Whoops...Guess I knocked it over in my sleep.." He admitted quietly before looking away when Maxine shot him a 'really?' look. She stood up with the alarm in hand, setting it on the table before she leaned over and messed with something behind it. She sighed hopelessly, checking the alarm's broken screen. "You've killed it." She stated, pulling something out from the wall and held it up to look at it, it was the plug for the alarm. "So, you already owe her a new alarm clock." She said, putting the plug down and crossing her arms as she turned toward the male, her demon tail waving around to show her annoyance. The male sighed, "I didn't mean to break it..maybe I could do something else for her instead of replacing it." He wondered, walking over to the bathroom. Maxine sighed, pinching the bridge of her nose between her thumb and pointer finger. "I really wouldn't do that if I were you.." She warned. He didn't listen, peeking into the bathroom. "Hey-" He started to say but Angel screamed as she snapped her head toward him, she was half-dressed with a half buttoned-up shirt and a skirt that wasn't tightened up yet. "Oh.." He mumbled, not taking his eyes off her. Angel's tail fluffed up and covered her waist and stomach while she managed to pull one side of the button up over her bra and her other hand searched for something to throw. Her hand found something cool and heavy, her hand latching onto it before she chucked it in the male's direction. Turned out she had grabbed a bucket, the male's eyes widened before it smacked his face hard and knocked him back. "OW!" He yelped, falling onto his butt before the bucket landed over his head. Angel sighed and hurried to finish getting ready. "Teaches you to peek in while someone is changing," Maxine said, smirking smugly at seeing him get what he deserved. The male groaned in pain, slowly taking the bucket off his head before giving Maxine the worst glare he has this morning. "She should close the door.." He mumbled, making Maxine chuckle. "To be honest, this is her house, she doesn't have to if she doesn't want to." She said in a matter of fact tone. Angel walked out of the bathroom, the male now sending his glare and the bucket to her. Her eyes widened a bit before she simply caught the bucket and went to put it back where it belonged. "You know, she's right. I should also be the only one in my house right now." Angel stated, walking back out while wiping her hands on the apron that was with the skirt. "True." Maxine agreed. The male sighed, mumbling under his breath as he got up. "Also! Don't think I didn't hear about my alarm clock. You do owe me a new one." Angel growled, a glimmer in her eyes as she stared him down. If he thought he could offer something else then he was dead wrong. The male crossed his arms, breathing out deeply through his nose as he looked away. "Fine..I'll buy you a new one." He grumbled. Angel smiled before turning around and heading out of the room. "Come on," Maxine said to the grumpy male as she followed after Angel and the male listened, following the demon. Angel was thankful they were respectful enough to not be in her room without her, even though she's known Maxine for a while, she didn't trust her alone in there.

Angel made her way downstairs, working on getting her hair up in its usual ponytail and ignoring the whispers and stares the other two behind her were doing. If they didn't want to speak loud enough for her to hear, she would respect that they didn't want her to hear, especially since Maxine knew how good the she-wolf's hearing was. However, the male did talk loud enough sometimes and Angel would hear they were talking about..food? Maxine would quickly shush him each time. Angel hummed, taking out a red ribbon from her skirt pocket and tying it up into a bow around her ponytail, making it downstairs once she was done. Maxine and the male followed down but split off to the living room while Angel went and put her high heels on. She went to the living room afterward, going to get her keys off the coffee table before going to the front door and unlocking it. She turned around with a slight smile on her face toward the two that were still whispering and glancing at her. "I hope you both know you'll be locked in here for twelve hours if you don't get out now." She said, immediately Maxine had darted outside making Angel chuckle as the male calmly walked out with his hands in his hoodie pockets. Angel followed out behind him and shut the door, turning to lock it before her keys went into her pocket. She turned back around, folding her hands in front of herself with a sigh. "Alright." She said, letting the bad from this whole morning drain before smiling brightly and looked to the she-demon. "Maxine, I will see you later." She said, Maxine nodding to agree with a smile of her own. Angel looked to the male, not wanting to be any ruder than what she's already been to him, even though he deserved it. "And.." She hesitated, realizing she doesn't know his name. He looked when she spoke in his direction and he noticed the pause, seeing he needed to fill a blank. "Razor." He answered, Angel almost frowning at the blank tone he had if Maxine didn't shake her head with her hands planting themselves on her hips. "His name is Roy Suave, he's just trying to get that nickname to work." She said, scolding the male now known as Roy with her eyes and he glared with fire in his gray eyes. Angel chuckled at the friendly yet aggressive tension between them, very playful tension. "Alright, well, Roy," Angel started, making Roy look at her again, the fire still in his eyes from Maxine. "I hope to not see you on my roof tonight." She finished saying, still smiling despite the bad shock his look gave her. Roy rolled his eyes, making the bad shock not feel as bad before Angel simply turned to walk away from them with her hands laced behind her back as she started her long walk to work. "Don't roll your eyes at me! I mean it!" Angel called out to Roy while still in hearing range and she smiled more when she heard Maxine snicker.

"This isn't the last time we'll see him, little one."
