You look ugly

Everything was coming back, the anxiety, the fear, and the discomfort. Natasha found herself tasting her blood after biting the inside of her mouth for too long.

'Where's her husband?'

'That's sad, her husband left her on the day of her delivery.'

'Did she perhaps cheat?'

'He's just a bastard, but what if she actually cheated?'

Natasha flashed back to the past when Tristan was in her life and how she ignored all his bad characters just because she was in love with him.

It hurt Natasha to realize how foolish she was back then. She was still stuck in her thoughts but she didn't know when she went to bathe and change her clothes.

'He wants another chance,' she thought, tears now streaming from her eyes. 'I want to forget about him, is it too much to ask?' she covered her face, crying like a child.

Her heart was in pain because she waited for him. While she was taking care of her newborn baby, she hoped, she wished, she prayed that Tristan would come back and she'd forgive him.

Natasha thought she was in the wrong when she didn't find her husband that day but he was just not into her. He didn't want a female child.

"I want to forget about his existence. The more I think about him, the more hurt I feel. I want to be free," Natasha cried and cried until she was lying on the bed.

When her daughter came to invite her mother to play with her, she found her mother sleeping on the bed, curled up like a child.

"Nanny, is Mama still going to watch the cartoon with me?" She asked, feeling heartbroken because she was anticipating and was so excited about tonight.

"I'm sorry, baby. Mama is very tired, that's why she's asleep," Nanny G tried to comfort the little girl.

"I want to sleep beside Mama then," Rebecca didn't know why she wanted that until she was with her mother in bed.

With her mother by her side, she didn't know when she fell asleep.

Natasha on the other hand didn't know when her daughter came to sleep next to her and Nanny G didn't plan to wake her Madam up as she didn't want to discomfort the woman.

Natasha was crying in her sleep while she was dreaming about her life if she by chance chose to get back with Tristan. She saw nothing but a dark life, a life full of sorrow but everything in her dream happened to be related to all her past experiences with Tristan.

She found herself being unable to contain everything in her dream so she opened her eyes slowly, still crying like a child.

But when she opened her eyes, she saw her baby and chuckled softly, her eyes still filled with tears.

"Yes, you are the only one I have. Just only you," she uttered and hugged her daughter tightly to her body.

Natasha lay in bed with her daughter, thinking about everything and why she had to face all those misfortunes. The thought of the man who caused her those pains being in her life again made her feel sick and she didn't know what to do.

Two weeks passed. While George was away, Natasha was dealing with a tough life at her workplace and even in her house.

It was around 4 pm in late June, and Natasha was in her bedroom applying her skincare when her best maid, Yvonne rushed in to tell her that her husband who left two weeks ago was back.

Natasha didn't know how she felt. She had been fine without him but she didn't have anyone to satisfy her sexual needs.

She wasn't shaken or surprised when Yvonne broke the news to her because she didn't care. She wanted him back but she wasn't excited or sad. There was no feeling felt about his presence.

However, Natasha stood up and went to the living room because that was where Yvonne told her George was. He was with her daughter.

Again, he was more interested in the little girl than the woman who brought him into their lives.

Although Natasha was void of feelings about his arrival, she was interested in what he had been up to for two weeks and why he disappeared on the second day after their wedding.

Natasha entered the living room with a simple dress on. She was wearing just a short beautiful gown.

George saw her approach the living room and stood up from the chair he was sitting on while playing with his daughter.

He approached Natasha with a bouquet that didn't look much like a bouquet. "I picked these for you," he said when he got to stand close to her as she studied him with her beautiful eyes.

Did his surgery go well? Yes, but the doctor couldn't assure him that his cancer would not come back. But he was fine at the moment.

Natasha glanced at the bouquet in his hand, ignored it, and looked at him as if she didn't recognize him.

Natasha looked at him in that manner because George was looking skinnier than he had the last time she saw him, making her more curious about what happened in two weeks and where he had been for two weeks.

She was now starting to regret the fact that she refused to do her findings about his two-week journey.

"Do you like them? I picked them when I went to receive a fresh breeze in the woods on my way back.

"I don't see anything beautiful about it. It's looking so ugly in front of me," Natasha responded. "And you look ugly as well," she added.

"Do you hate me now?" George dropped the flowers on something close to him.

"I never liked you so there's no way I hate you now. If I hate you then I must have hated you since the beginning."

"Well…" he swallowed. "That hurts."

'I was only lying to myself. There was never a home for me here and there will never be.' George, who longed for a place to call home, found himself being so exhausted about everything.

"I understand," he said but instead of going away, he went even closer to her and hugged her warmly and gently.

"It's okay to hate me, it's okay to be angry with me. I know I'm wrong," he said behind her.

"Rebecca wanted to see you so much, she asked me so many questions," Natasha said calmly.

She never knew she needed a hug until now. She felt relieved, although she wasn't hugging him back.
