"Lian!" Lisa screamed, her voice raw with desperation. She tried to climb out of the pit, but its sides were too steep. She clawed at the dirt, her nails breaking as she struggled to reach him.
Edward, who had been directing the police immediately rushed to Lian's side.
He knelt beside him, his hands trembling slightly as he pressed down on the wound. Blood gushed out, staining his hands and the ground beneath them.
"Lian, stay with me," Edward urged, his voice steady despite the urgency of the situation. He could see that the bullet had struck the right side of Lian's chest, missing his heart but causing significant damage.
"You'll be okay. Help is on the way." He assured the pale man beneath him.
Lian's breathing was shallow, his eyes fluttering as he fought to stay conscious. He managed a weak smile, his gaze shifting from Edward to Lisa, who was still struggling to climb out of the pit.
