 Chapter 2

       Anamali wakes up surrounded by other wolves, panthers, lions and bears, apparently hiding her by being in human form, the girl turns into a wolf, and could not keep her human form. If it wasn't for those surrounding the hunters would have discovered their origin, the best way would be to pretend to be a real wolf so I wouldn't distrust her, but it was dangerous to spend too much time in her Wolf form, as she could totally lose control and become wild. People begin to circulate on all sides watching, one of them that seemed to be the leader's right arm approaches, extending his hand, as if she was a dog, the girl pushes his hand there with her muzzle, he smiles stroking her. Mali cursed herself for not calling Alysha, they called her Moon. He opened the cell and Anamali left. As she followed him,  she listened to the comments about the people and the deaths of hybrids, that they must all die for being impure race.  "David? Did the leadership talk about the wolf that should come? So far nothing about the wolf girl, Anamali? "One of them asks the question and the boy next to me lifts his shoulders ignoring him.   "I talked to you!" Repeat and throw a small stone that falls at her feet making her growl.  "Don't!  They never tell me anything, just the message. " replies watching the wolf.   "You know very well that Mrs Ferri doesn't want any of these beasts, she wants Anamali.  I'm going to get to the neighborhood, you keep watch" the man tells David and picks up a gun calling the other hunters.    She sees the human take notes and take one of those darts and watch him take notes.    "Without those assholes around here we can do the animal research, Miss Ferri will be proud of us..." A woman in a white coat says watching Anamali. "David? Come here, quick!'' She calls him scared.  "What? Valeria, we don't have time for conversations and you know how important this work is. '' David walks up to her and looks at the wolf.   

 "That animal's eyes... look human, David!"   He watches Anamali and smiles caressing her, and watches the animals in the cages.  "You're scared that this is your first off-base investigative mission, everyone should have returned to human form by now..."   His cell phone rings and upon answering, Valerie observes him seriously.    "Yes ma'am, I'll check the security cameras in the cage," he says, opening a laptop.    Noises are heard outside,  the hunters come back shooting out. While several brothers and sisters appear, they were the lions of King  Melker, but not just them.    

The surprise when I see a pack enter the place, my father and Aly along with the alpha and some warriors, fight arresting them and Logan, looked so beautiful, serious that way but Selene was beside him, as well as Jordan and Saline.   I step forward under the eyes of the bandits and David,  everyone widens their eyes with Logan hugging me in my wolf form covering me with my cape, I return to the human form.      

"Thank you David, for the protection",  I said and hugged Logan. I needed to cry because the feelings didn't fit inside me anymore. "Logan, I was so scared " I said   "Did you? fear?" He mocked her and stared at her "I was the one who was afraid after the fight, you turned like that and then disappeared again. "  He said that the mood was strange and everyone was watching, Selene looked away from the scene.   "Ah, you two... " Mali talks about stepping away and embracing her father.   "All right? Did they hurt you?" he asks, checking for injuries. The alpha released the wolves trapped there, many from other places.    "No... there's nothing between me and Selene" Logan says slowly and adds  "Think I can be like my father one day ? " 

 "I think so, when he came in next to him he looked like an alpha. I heard them talking about someone wanting me. "Whispers     "Can he know?" points to David.  "I... David ? " she approaches him  ''Moon" whispers   "I'm Anamali, I heard you talking about the boss waiting for me " says    He stared at both of them, it was impossible to predict what he thought.  

"You? who commands this interested in...I can not speak, she would kill me"   "Or... I'll kill you right here'' It was Logan's voice taking her by surprise by the steady, low voice next to her.  "What? They are companions! It is fascinating to see all this outside the laboratory! You are the heiress? Many prisoners talked about heiress, guardians. You are the heiress and he is your guardian ? "Anamali was surprised, the humans knew about the prophecy and believed in it?!  "Let's send them to human prison. " Jake told Melker he denied it.  

"Why can't I play the role of king of lions and kill them right here? I understand the law of elders but humans will keep appearing in our territory?  I'm sure your beta Farkas agrees with me." Melker was very angry.  

 "We have human medical examiners close to our pack because of murders. We're doing everything we can to keep them away from the packs, we don't need any more humans here. I propose a conversation with the governor." Jake convinces the lion king that he accepts.  

"Let it be Alpha Jake, but I suggest you issue the alert for all the packs. We elect him as a representative for a reason. His son, the heir must know the responsibilities ahead. Logan?" Melker calls him and Logan watches his father and approaches. "You are the heir of all races, not just wolves. Not just your father's pack, visit every village in the reserve. I invite you to spend a day in my kingdom."   Melker makes the invitation and leaves after everyone hears noises and police lights, probably the same ones near Fullmoon.

 The way back, Anamali hugged his father and Aly who was beside him worried, Logan talked to Luna about something and always looked in his direction, many of which were the subject of the moment. As they approached the pack they could see the lights on and all waiting. The alpha returned from a mission, but it was not quite that, the representative of the circle was there and wanted to see Anamali and Logan alone.    "Alpha, Lu... one of the representatives of the Great Circle is in the pack and asks for a meeting with Logan and Anamali." Johnny delivers the message.

 "All right, thanks Johnny we'll take you to the meeting room in two minutes. " says the alpha waiting for the two to arrive.  

"Sir? He said he wants to talk only about Logan and Anamali at this first meeting."  "Okay, fine, Johnny, tell him you're both on the way." Says signaling the two to follow the messenger.   

 The two made the path in silence, agreeing and sometimes denying any comment Johnny made.  

 "You must be scared, right? No one has ever spoken personally to one of the elders of the great circle." 

Both agreed to let the matter die there, in the meeting room the doors were opened revealing a gentleman with blue eyes almost gray, his face was thin and pale and wore a gray tunic with details on the sash and black bar. There was a medium-sized beard and his hair was dark brown, neither of them knew what to expect. The elder gets up to notice the two and welcomes them with a warm smile. Logan was suspicious but sat down. It seemed something important since they saw many people around the house waiting for them, he looked at Anamali who watched everything in silence.    "It is a great pleasure to meet the heir and guardian of this Age. My name is Bloor, I have been from the great circle since my birth. The representative of the ancient wolves, each era is marked by an heir and a guardian of the ancient wolves, and various heirs elected for the common good of community life in the reserve and throughout our world, our reserve grows more and more because of each heir who helps us in a way. Lionel,  the governor and perhaps president is an example, is negotiating another entire state to tear down houses and buildings since at the beginning of his government he planted trees and wants one more state for the reserve, so half of the country just for our reserve, We receive thousands of wolves, lions, panthers, bears around the world, the cold climate where I live along with The Great Circle, we have the white bears, wolves and all sorts of beast men whose nature is the icy climate. I would like you to understand  the importance of the two of you for all this. I wanted no one but us in this meeting and I wish that everything we talked about was just between us and the big circle. You must understand for yourselves the meaning of being guardian and heir.  A hut to the east is sealed with ancient magic, Anamali, you met someone who can help you in this. Find out what you need to do together." Says  

"But, sir, how do I know I'll be ready to be that heir that everyone expects?" Logan asks  

"You two will know, you're not alone. You have each other, a team walk and would even like to take exams to be sure of certain things, but could only with you two training with me and with the elders on our mountain. In about four months you will receive a letter with the invitation to train with us."

    "I'm the guardian of what? I don't understand about me being someone important." Asks after observing what Mr Bloor was saying. 

 "This only you can find out, each guardian has a mission and yours is to figure out how to help and protect the heir. This does not make your walk more difficult and doesn't even mean it's underneath, on a level below it. Without the guardian no heir can complete the mission. Bloor says and removes from a bag some maps, books and notes. "Here in this region, is the hut to the east following the trail under the waterfall. " Shows the points where they should go. And he was surprised by the seriousness of the two in front of him and everyone wanted to know more about them, would stay a few more weeks to observe the two closely.    

 "Should we both go together without help?" asks Logan    

"Not yet, calm down. I'll be staying for a few weeks to do some tests and observe you and also explain about these books and notes. We need a place outside the pack for us to do the meetings." Bloor gives them books and notes each of the two. and fires them. "I'll look for a place and I'll let you know" he gets up, opening the door for both of them.

Anamali and Logan go their separate ways and in silence as everyone stares at them expectantly.

"Let's go dad? I have to rest." Mali says "Good night everyone" ends by hearing everyone respond.

The day had been busy for everyone in the pack, once quiet and now full of visitors both inside and around, the coroners were still at the crime scene, in and out. Watchmen were nearby watching the work and making the report that would be ready in a few days. Anamali didn't understand what was so important about being a guardian, and why she had been chosen. Logan didn't know much about the pack, let alone being a wolf. How would the two save all the people in the pack?

On the way, she and Farkas exchanged words about the weather, the wolf's father seemed uncomfortable to touch on complicated subjects, he always gave his daughter freedom to talk about any subject and he didn't like to force the bar and force her to talk because he understood that in his own time he would feel free to broach the subject. When they get home, they heat up the food and sit around the table for dinner.

"How was it?" Farkas asks the daughter who had barely eaten with her food, she was fiddling with her fork while supporting her head with her other hand. 

"Ah dad" She whispered with a tired sigh "It was scary, all those brothers who were taken hostage, helped me when I was unconscious in human form and apparently they had our number and knew about my lack of control, how could they find out something like that?" Ask the father staring at him

"I'll check it out in the morning, in case there's a spy around here or the line is tapped. And what did the elder want?" Question "I don't want to pressure you, but you seem thoughtful since you left that room, I've noticed Logan acting like that too and I want you to know that no matter what your father is here to help you." Ends 

"Thanks dad, he wants to see Logan's training up close and he knows I'm his daughter and so he wants me and Logan to train together." He says and the matter ends there, he knew she had lied and wouldn't bring it up. The two wash the dishes and Anamali kisses her father on the cheek good night and goes upstairs falling asleep as soon as she lies in bed.

At dawn the watchmen were hiding in their wolf forms pretending to be just a pack of wolves living nearby mingling with common wolves and animals. They got along well and served as camouflage.

"They are all human, but the coroner found strange data in the DNA of this woman, Mary Souzone, 43 years old and born here, has 4 children and all are married." They comment on each other. "The scent of blood is attracting the beasts, there are several wolves around us, could some DNA be theirs? but there are no bite marks on these bodies, Lucinda!" One of the investigators was talking to the others, they seemed frightened by the number of bodies dumped there.

"That's a lot of bodies Joe, we've never seen anything like this and I'm rooting for this maniac to get life." A woman says."

There were more wolves around, the lookouts notice the neighboring pack guard being led by alpha Vilky, They walk towards Fullmoon.

One of the guards follows in wolf form to the pack via a shortcut they used to use. Arriving in time to see Jake facing Vilky, Anamali and Logan were next to each other.

"Alpha Jake, I came in peace to invite Anamali, Seline and Saline to my birthday, they know I still haven't found my mate and so I'm inviting the wolves from the neighboring packs that still haven't found their mates." He says and smiles at Anamali. that swallows dry.

"Fine, they will"Jake says, ending the subject.

Anamali ignores him, they studied together at pack school, Vilky used to treat everyone who didn't obey him.

" Daughter, if you don't want to go…" Farkas starts…

"If you don't go he might see it as an affront and want war." Jake says "But if there's anything that explains why you hate it he can tell me and I'll take care of it." The alpha says and everyone looks at her expectantly.

"I don't have a reason Uncle Jake, I just don't like the way he treats people."

"So it's agreed, you go." Jake says

Logan was distracted, watching the kids coming home from school, couples of mates smiling and realizing that this was their place now and they depended on him to protect and guide them and this could easily be their home. He would follow in his father's footsteps and be a great pack leader and go to this party with Anamali because he didn't trust Vilky. The hours pass and with them Anamali, Logan, Selene and Saline arrive at the Alfa Vilky's house, there was loud music and drunkenness. This was one of the rare times when youngsters had fun besides pack chores. The only objective was socialization, very reminiscent of human parties. Logan talked to many of the other packs who invited him to visit. 

" The time has come!" Announces James makes the Wolves including Anamali's appear and then Vilky walks from wolf to wolf until he turns into a human along with all of them and warns.

- I Vilky Hughver announced my partner Jillian Fjord."  says out loud with a smile on his lips "And I would like to announce that I don't want her as a companion" he concludes

"He can do that?" Whispers Logan

"It's more common than you can imagine, no wolf deserves to go through this humiliation like that."

After that everyone sees Jillian leaving angry and Vilky behind saying it was a joke.

"I see you came"  Vilkas  says "Enjoy the party." He leaves after his angry mate.

Anamali and Logan looked at each other and decided to leave, and while walking through the forest again they laughed together.

"Why can't I wake up my wolf?" The biggest question suddenly made her stop and stare at him.

"Complicated, we need to research ancient rituals, but first we need to talk to your mother.

"Then we'll talk to her" he says looking at the moon that was high in the sky, Anamali did the same letting out a howl to the full moon laughing when he heard Logan try to do the same because they were giving a truce, a part is jealousy for Logan to appear and attract people's pride even his father keeps commenting on him.

 The return home was smooth, each one goes to their house and then the young woman lies on her bed thinking about possible rituals that may have imprisoned the heir's Wolf.

"Tomorrow I'll go to the library to get some old books, and I'll visit Johannes to see if she can help me with some rituals..."

"What rituals, daughter?" The young woman is startled to hear that voice while she was distracted, it was her father at her door laughing. 

"I need to know what we can do to wake the heir's wolf."

"Your mom had a little cabin where she and Logan's mom would go "do Wolf stuff" maybe she won't tell you where it is? Her mom was fascinated by books and those stories" He laughs as if he's experiencing the scene and the smaller one smiles together. "There was a time, when the four of us were teenagers, when the two of us thought we were invisible." Farkas laughs as he remembers his late companion. "Me and Jake have been tormenting them ever since."

" I wanted to remember her" She confesses looking at her father " She seems to me to have been someone amazing."

"You have her eyes and that spirit of freedom you inherited from her too, but we were always happy here, unlike Jake and Luna who dreamed of traveling the world. " 

The eldest hugs his daughter and he really wished that his Katherina was there to take care of their dreamed daughter together, seeing her grow up would even save him the trouble he had to explain to her when she was thirteen years old why she was bleeding, if when babies were born they were born in wolf or baby form. But he always tried his best, not just acting as a father but as a mother and trying to see both sides of situations.

"Good night father" whispers the young woman receiving a seal on the top of her head.

"Good night my love" she says as she closes the window and leans against the white door of her daughter's room heading to the basement, where she observes possible evidence of the mission the alpha had given her.

The sun was rising over the horizon and the first rays of sunlight crossed the sky in a show of colors, in the pack Logan and his father headed downtown, where they talked about changes Logan thought necessary for the pack.

As Anamali ran along a small dirt road at the exit of the forest and knew that there was a small hut where a young friend was not a wolf. She was the most amazing person she ever met, she was a rare type, half woman and black panther Alysha is a Womterpanam.

"Flea? What are you doing here?" She hears the laughing voice and enters the house finding her friend in a comical scene, she surrounded a porcupine while it tried to defend itself.

"I brought fresh venison" she Announces and her friend claps her hands.

"Hand over here! Alysha needs to eat urgently" she says as she takes the food for herself.

" I know it's none of your business but... I need to wake up a sleeping wolf for twenty years. " She says and as predicted she sees the older one stop seasoning the meat and look amazed.

"Don't say you're the heir? They're screwed, forget it. Only those who are imprisoned are free." She says putting the meat to roast.

"I can't believe it, we've known each other since eighth grade. To think I was supposed to be at Shoreston married to the grocer around the corner, or was a carpenter? She tells him showing her his drawings and the miniatures of the traps while Anamali sketches a thoughtful smirk. They remain talking and after the meat is cooked, Aly takes Anamali out of the house and they eat the meat together talking, the girl helps her friend to hunt some animals.

At dusk she returns to her house where her father was waiting for her. The day dawns and as she leaves the house she sees Logan talking animatedly with the twins Selene and Saline. Anamali goes to them and tells the alpha's son.

"Logan Muller, two hours wait for me at the entrance to the forest, I need to talk to you about some pack things." Logan nods.

Farkas and Jake laughed at Lunaris who was mad at them but whenever these moments came they stopped for a moment when they remembered Katherina, she looked at her friend not knowing what to say.

"Farkas? are they…" Jake says pointing to Anamali and Logan

After such words he leaves and Logan enters the house thoughtfully and ends up agreeing with his father, she was very different from both the wolves and the humans of the city.

Logan was waiting for Mali but he wasn't alone Selene and Saline were together and so was Jordan. The girl lets out a grunt in disgust.

  They followed a path unlike any they had ever seen, only Anamali knew the place.

"Where will we go?" Saline asks because the place was dark because of the dense forest."

"A quiet place, I often run around here with Alysha while I help her with some hunting" she says shrugging her shoulders and looking back she finds the four of them looking around in fear.

"What was this?" Jordan asks going close to Anamali who laughs at the two

"A group of monkeys, they are territorial and that's why they are screaming, the territory is theirs" Mali says and the five young people walk and in a carelessness they fall into a hole, it looked like a trap, Saline hurt his ankle and Logan seems to have scratched his arm, nothing severe.

"Ouch! I think I sprained my ankle!" Saline screams in pain.

 "Damn! We fell into one of Alysha's traps! She leaves it all the way and whenever we go out for a run we jump this hole." Anamali says.

Raindrops begin to fall as the air turns cold and young people watch Seline massage her sister's ankle, she works at the reserve hospital, she does the night shift. Saline was the one who went to the neighboring pack for fruit and vegetable swaps. Noises are heard and the five scared look up where wild roars approach, unconscious Mali grabs Logan's arm who holds her in an equally startled hug, a group of lionesses jump over the hole and surround them as a growl causes whoever start a fight, a wolf and a panther that after chasing away the animals transform. Marcus and Alysha look at the hole in surprise, Anamali and the heir there.

"Flea! How did you get there? You knew about the traps and even helped me mount it" Shouts to Mali

 "But it doesn't mean I remembered it was here, I thought it was further on! Aly get us out of here, Saline twisted his ankle and I think we're on holidays when we get out of here" Anamali defends himself

"Just a minute, hey Marcus help me get them out, we can use these vines, they're tough as rope." Alysha asks and soon they're out of there but all dirty and full of mud and dry leaves. 

"Thanks, I think we should go back" Mali says looking at the twins but Logan intercedes.

"No, Jordan can get back with the twins with Marcus' help and Alysha helps us along the way" He says and is surprised that everyone agrees.

  Logan was enumerating with his cell phone the places that had holes, Alysha was soon distracted by movements ahead.

"Hide" she Whispers and they go to the middle of the bush where it would take to see them. A tall man was talking to an old man and Blackverus.

"The elder!" Logan whispers and the two agree and try to hear what they were talking about.

"You know you couldn't do both jobs at the same time, so I'll call Anamali and make a deal with her. Nobody knows who I am, Marcus, that wolf can help her with that. I have my business to attend to '' It was Leonardo.

"The matter is of interest to you too, don't you dare talk to me as if I were a child, before your parents thought of putting you in the world I was already here!" Blackverus, as usual in a bad mood. 

" I defend the elder and you can ask the young people to go through the packs to get the ingredients, you know what will happen in a few weeks."Leonardo and the two agree to leave together by another path.

"We should go back, right? We don't want us to see" Aly says and they follow her as quickly as possible. Mali enters the pack and leaves Logan with Jake who was waiting for him for night training. The wolf enters the house going to her room and making notes about what she heard and then went down to eat together with her father while they talked about banal things and her father told her the news of the packs.

Alysha enters the house sitting down to eat, the two leave towards the meadow where panther shows the images on the camera that recorded the trap, someone sabotages her and sneaks out and soon they appear and fall into the hole the man was hooded and then could not see clearly. 

Logan arrives and sits next to her after Aly leaves, watching the moon in the sky even through the clouds.

"I don't know why you took the twins along Logan, if it was just the two of us I would have managed to avoid falling into that hole I think." She tells him.

"Are you jealous of them?" Logan laughs.

" I just don't want that in the end we have a womanizing alpha and a stuck-up, bossy and inconsequential Luna who will destroy the pack"  Says and sighs lowering his tone "They didn't live here when it happened Logan, didn't you live here and I? I grew up listening to the rumors of how my mother had her internal organs ripped out by Vilky's father or Marcus' uncle or how much everyone still grieves for their past losses... Or grew up seeing your father every night with a full moon looking out the window and howling waiting for my mother to return home. This has always been my home and I want the best for all of them, even the twins. Your father along with mine managed to bring peace to this pack alone, without their mates and without the help of the pack or neighbors because each had their own family to comfort." 

"I'm trying to learn but you're not willing to teach me, to explain to me Anamali and you're only thinking about you. You wanted to be the alpha, Selene and Saline told me they were your friends and you suddenly walked away, yes I did." I've been talking to people and everyone told me that it has something to do with Marcus and that you were hanging out with him. There was something that made you like this and you don't even trust your own shadow to tell what happened. " he says and just listens to a Sigh.

"I'm trying to learn but you're not willing to teach me, to explain to me Anamali and you're only thinking about you. You wanted to be the alpha, Selene and Saline told me they were your friends and you suddenly walked away, yes I did." I've been talking to people and everyone told me that it has something to do with Marcus and that you were hanging out with him. There was something that made you like this and you don't even trust your own shadow to tell what happened. " he says and just listens to a Sigh.

"I'm trying to learn but you're not willing to teach me, to explain to me Anamali and you're only thinking about you. You wanted to be the alpha, Selene and Saline told me they were your friends and you suddenly walked away, yes I did." I've been talking to people and everyone told me that it has something to do with Marcus and that you were hanging out with him. There was something that made you like this and you don't even trust your own shadow to tell what happened. " he says and just listens to a Sigh.

"What started the war?" asks Logan.

"The great war? I'll start with the great circle... Twenty-two years ago there was a kind of brotherhood formed by the strongest and bravest wolves in each pack, they were a great circle and protected the packs and taught new wolves.. .

"New wolves?" asks Logan, interrupting her.

"Yes, at that time it was common for some strong and superior wolves to have in their claws and in their canines a type of poison like a disease like: rabies and so on, but when biting humans the skin would turn purple and the first symptoms began, high fever, delusions, and then the vision started to get sharp making them imagine having visions, and severe pain in the body until the transformation took place, which usually happened in the full moon because the moon brings us a greater strength and we are a little out of it. So the wolves in the circle were going after the newly turned when rumors that herds were gone and people heard animal grunts and brought them to the big circle where they trained them. My father trained them but the wolves outside the circle were getting annoyed because it seemed that the wolves of the great circle were superior to them, and then they were gathering forces with other packs and simply and a few nights after my birth they attacked the Fullmoon all of the circle were gathered together and were caught off guard and some in favor of the circle were against others. Imagine father against son, brothers against each other killing the same race! Many alphas and betas died and among them my mother. " Anamali says as the two imagined what it would have been like, whole families fighting each other.

"I will be a good alpha and I will follow in my father's footsteps but Anamali... What does all this have to do with my mother running away with me?" he asks and the young woman is silent, not knowing for sure what would have happened. "How will I be as a wolf? I bet you fall at my feet." Logan imagined himself as a wolf as big and strong as his father's painting in wolf form.

His father is a wolf with a black coat and brown eyes, but his mother has a brown coat with some spots... What if you're brown with black spots? "jokes laughing.

The two come to imagine that they could be friends, and she gets up.

Logan smiled remembering their first real conversation...

Anamali enters the house thoughtfully going straight to her room where she lies down, and minutes later is interrupted by her father.

"Did you take the twins, Jordan and Logan, into a thicket and fall into that hole? Have you lost your wits? If any of them were seriously injured or you were injured and no one found you, something could have eaten the five of them" After such words the young woman feels a weight on her conscience because if something had happened she would already be banished from the pack by now " Daughter, isn't it time to do things the right way? That mission that Jake entrusted to you to take care of the future alpha of the pack and our heir I've always overlooked your antics because you haven't had a mother but it's getting hard, and it's about time you found a mate and..." The front door is slammed, and the father the young wolf sighs heavily, he knows it's going to be hard.

Anamali leaves the pack streets with tears in her eyes and ends up bumping into Marcus but not to talk to anyone. Logan in the distance, even accompanied by several girls, ends up seeing the scene, which makes his blood boil when he realizes that that alpha was following his father's beta daughter and apologizes for following the two..

 "I was told to deliver you a message" whispers Marcus.

"I will not participate in that business again." Anamali says

"Leonardo said he can help you do whatever you need to do to wake up the heir's wolf. And about what happened in the past, I'm sorry I got you in that trouble, we almost died and Vilky lost control fighting a group of lions."

"Are you sorry? I was your girlfriend and you ran and left me alone to deal with them" she says angrily "I almost died, if they hadn't recognized me I would be dead.

Logan appears and the conversation ends. After he leaves, the heir encourages the girl to talk about what happened.
