He woke up in the morning with next day, ready for the magic knight exam. he brought a magically enhanced dagger which didn't cost much, and he only brought it for safety
after opening his door and stretching, he watched as the crowded streets of the royal capital were filled with Young Grimoire users wanting to get their place in the magic knight squads.
first, he needed to think of what squad to accept if he does get accepted by them all, which is unlikely but a man can dream, y'know
but Zalak runs into a problem. he doesnt want to be bound too hard, as he wants his freedom. don't get him wrong, he will protect people but bounded to listening to a certain person doesnt suit his needs
"We need to make ourself's looked like talent," Zalak said to the Grimoire, causing it to shake
the Grimoire expanded itself, making it look long and thick, making it look more powerful

ignoring most of them, he walked into 3 stands, where they put a tag on your grimoire and tell you what number it is. luckily, it just tagging magic and not identification magic, making it a lot easier

walking away, he opened it to see if it created a new page before opening it up
although a page wasn't made, it seemed like the tracking magic had a small upgrade
walking into the crowd of the other 82 people, they waited for an hour before the venue was fully full, revealing a large number of people

2 men approached The captain of the Black bulls being Finral Roulacase, a user of the rare spatial magic, and Gordon Agrippa, who uses poison magic
Finral is known to be a womaniser, and Gordon is lamented as a freak for being quiet and his weird appearance
countless mutters and rumours appeared in the crowd, some Zalak listened into

the magic captain's started to come out, each showing different expressions.
First to come out was Nozel SIlva - the leader of the Silver eagle squad. he had the powerful Mercury magic, which was a mix between his father's and mothers magic. he is known to be prideful and fairly quiet, although he can snap.his appearance was a weird type of hairstyle where the back and roots of his head look like eagles crown feathers, with a single braid of hair falling to his nose. the end of the braid has a cross on it, the silva household symbol
Next to come out was Fuegoleon Vermillon - A user of Fire-type magic. he is extremely calm and composed, not being biased towards commoners even though he is a part of the 3 royal households of the clover kindgom, that being the Silva household, the vermillion household and Kira household, the latter being the royal family of the Clover kindgom. his older sister , Mereoleona Vermillon was described as one of the most powerful people in the clover kindgom, although Fuegoleon's magic isn't to be looked down on either
the next to come out was the captain of the praying mantis - jack the ripper. he was a former commoner and specializes in serving magic, a magic that can cut anything aslong as mana is presented, which he doesn't lack. nobody really knows his past and is mysterious
The next to come out was Charlotte Roselli, a Noblewoman with the never seen before "Briar magic." which is a large upgrade to the common "Thorn magic." she is a noblewoman, and hates men, much like the rest of her squad, the Blue roses. the men are treated like servant boys and errand runners, so even if Zalak gets only a position from her, it's a no. she's known to be beautiful and loved by all, even though she's cold and cruel
next was Gueldre Poizot - nothing is known about the past to the man, and is labelled as very greedy and sketchy, making some questionable deals for his fame and power. he has permation magic, invisibility magic that not even sensing type mages could notice. although powerful, it's a no for Zalak
Dorothy Unsworth was the next to come out, the capital of the coral peacocks. don't fall under the trap of thinking she's fully asleep, as even when dreaming she is fully sentiment. she used dream magic, which could rival time magic as being the most powerful magic. apparently, in her world, she can do anything she wants and can create anything she wants, meaning if she drags someone in there and they don't have enough imagination, it's game over. although he would say yes on a good day, he's not sure
Next was the talented leader of the Aqua Deer squad, Rill Boismortier. he specializes in painting magic which lets him create anything with mana and his paintbrush and canvas. he became the youngest magic knight leader, at the age of 19. he's friendly, but focuses on his paintings more than his actual work, causing the disrespect others to give him
next was the strongest magic knight leader, William vengeance. he wears a mask, which obscures his face, leading to people thinking that he's too beautiful for any mortal eye to see or he's incredibly ugly
the Grimoire started shaking Rapidly when it saw him, and his gaze instantly shot over to me.
Zalak could have sworn his piercing purple eyes flicker with gold
"Candidates." William vengeance eyes swept down at the crowd before him " I will be conducting this exam."
his grimoire opened, which made William chant
"Magic tree, descend!"
the sunny sun was blocked by magically made rain clouds as a gust of wind came from the centre. a large tree sprouted from the centre of the clouds, , hundreds of branches going down to the contestants below
the branches suddenly turned into Magic broomsticks as contestants reached towards there's, Zalak no different
"A Broom made from World tree magic huh."
Zakai knew nothing of world tree magic, as this was his first time
the clouds were swept away, revealing the sunny sky once more
"We will now have you take several tests." William said, "the nine of us will evaluate your performance and then select the candidates that we would like to add to our squads." he carried on his eyes falling onto me once more "If chosen, you will join the squad. if you have been chosen by more than one squad, you may join the squad you would like to join. on the other hand, those who are not chosen by any captain are not qualified to join the magic knights" William said, "As the first exam, we will have you get on those brooms and fly."
murmurs filled the crowd as many were commoners and never used their magic brooms before
