She No Kill Person

Lanre did not realise when tears drop down her cheeks when she saw the hate speech from netizens. There were only few people saying, “na prostitution she do, she no kill person” or “We do not know what she was passing through so we shouldn’t judge”. This felt worst than those insult to her because she was not a sex worker. And now Christian was asking her if the rumour is true. She abruptly hangs up on him. Took her bag and left the shop.

Christian seeing that Lanre did hang up on him threw a fist on the table. “She should have at least said “yes” or “no”!” He groaned. The he stood up from the chair he sat on.

“Do not follow me. Make sure they find out who started this rumour before I get back”. Christian said to his secretary while leaving the office. He had to go see Lanre. She could be sucking right now. But by the time he got to LAN’s Beauty Parlour, Lanre was no longer there. When he asked the workers if they knew where she went, it was Sharon who told him that she had come to the office but didn’t stay close to an hour before leaving.

“So when exactly did she leave?” Christian asked. Sharon told him, it was about an hour ago. Christian realised it was exactly the time it took him to get to the shop. She must have left after the call. He asked if Sharon knew where Lanre went but no one knew. He left the shop in a hurry. He went straight to Lanre’s place while calling her phone, all to no avail reaching her.

When he got to her place, he knocked on the door with hopes that she must have come back home, but no one came to open the door.

“Oga who you de fine?” Yetunde, Lanre’s neighbour asked Christian who he was looking for. He had his two hands on his waist. Christian turned to look at him. Then he asked him if he has seen his neighbour around that day. He made sure not to leave Lanre’s name out. Yetunde shook his head telling him he has not seen Lanre. Then he made to walk away but stops.

He asked Christian if he was not the same guy that had come to look for one Lanre about a month ago. Christian was confused as this was the first time he was interacting with Yetunde. He told Yetunde he was not the one.

“Anyway, pay me for service rendered. At least I answer your question well today even say you de pretend say no be you come look for my fine neighbour that day”. Yetunde said demanding for money from Christian as a fee for answering his question correctly this time even though Christian told him he was not the one who had previously come to ask him questions about Lanre. Christian gritted his teeth. He began to doubt if the guy was actually Lanre’s neighbour or a lout.
