In Reality

K pulled Lanre with him inside the hotel. On getting in, Lanre decided to stop struggling since she did not want to draw more attention to herself than she would normally with the way she was dressed. On getting in, she realised K didn’t get to book a room. He only collected a key and left with her. It seems he has been staying in the hotel for a while.

“Na wa o! (Exclamation)” One of the receptionist said. There three of them there. Given the size of the hotel, it was only right they had up to three receptionist at the reception desk.

“What?” The only male receptionist there asked. The one who had earlier made an exclamation asked if he did not see what the lady the young man brought with him was wearing. He hissed. The other female receptionist laughed and clapped her hands.

“I would have said we need to be professional and not gossip our customers or who they bring along with them, but on a serious note, I wonder why such a handsome young man that has a fiancée will be carrying prostitutes? I mean you should see the girls he brings here sometimes. Most of them look like high class babes and I thought he had high taste until now o”. The lady receptionist who just joined in the conversation said. The first one who had talked about K and Lanre arched forward. She asked the other lady to gist her some more.

“Alaye, go to your desk. I am not giving you any gist. If them sack us, we won’t help each other”. The second lady said to the first one. She walked back to her side of the desk hissing. The young man in their midst burst out laughing. He told them they lacked what to do with their time.

“That girl is sha hot! I mean look at her legs, damn! I could kill to get those legs wrapped around my waist”. The young man said. The first female receptionist gave him a knock on his head telling him to wake up from his sleep.

Meanwhile, Lanre had been dragged into a room by K. Precisely a presidential suite that matched his kind of luxury.

“What did you say? I would like to hear you say it again?” K asked. Lanre clenched her fist. She felt like punching K in the face. She wondered what he was asking her to repeat.

“That you are carrying Kehinde’s child, repeat that statement again?” K said. Lanre frowned. She could not recall saying such a thing to K. She only told him that she was carrying Christian’s child. When did she say such a thing that the child was Kehinde’s?

What Lanre did not know was that the words had rolled out of her tongue. She had told K subconsciously it was Christian’s child, so she thought. In reality, she had mentioned K’s name where she had wanted to mention Christian’s name. And now K won’t let her be because of what Christian had said Lanre was keeping from him. If he was the one actually responsible for Lanre’s pregnancy, then no one would stop him from having her.
