Crying At Night

Sharon believes that if she could get closer to Lanre and be a friend to Lanre, then she could get connected to the people Lanre is connected to and will eventually become famous and rich. They were all aware of rumour that had spread on social media about Lanre and how the notorious Gossip Queen had taken Lanre’s side and made Lanre become popular. Everyone who knows the Gossip Queen knows she does not do things in favour of anyone. Lanre must be close to her to have gained her favour. But what Sharon didn’t know is that even Lanre has no clue why the Gossip Queen did that aside from “God must have fought for her” through the Gossip Queen.

“Lanre!” Sharon called after Lanre who was going back into her office after they had congratulated her. Some customers were there as well and thought it was rude of Sharon to call her madam by her name, none of them were aware it was Lanre’s decision that they call her by her name.

“Is that girl not rude? Why will she call the owner of the shop by her name?” One of the customers said.

“Our madam doesn’t mind because it’s how she chose to be addressed. If she hears us call her boss or madam, she will not accept it, so?” It was Aaron who replied. The customer clears her throat as though something got stuck in it and she needed to force it out. Then she asked how much she gets to pay for the extra service. She had only come for pedicure but had decided on getting her hair styled. So she had only paid for the pedicure before coming. Aaron told her she is to pay the sum of three thousand naira. And that was just to style her hair. If it was a new hair do he had made for her, then it would have taken more than that. LANs Beauty could still be considered one of the cheapest even when it is one of the best.

Meanwhile, Sharon was now in Lanre’s office. She had come to discuss with Lanre about the new girl working with them, Ebitari. She had already told Lanre that she was finding it quite difficult sharing her small one room apartment with Ebitari especially since the girl was always crying out night. She told Lanre she would have been a bit comfortable if the girl was sharing her problems with her, but the young lady never says anything. According to Sharon, even in the midst of her tears, she would say she’s fine.

Lanre sighed. She asked Sharon if she knows if Ebitari had a boyfriend or if there was anything that seems to trigger her to cry. Sharon shook her head in the negative. Lanre told her to go since she has no clue and that she would see what she can do.

Later that day when they were about to close, Lanre sent for Ebitari. One could never tell what burdens a man until they are able to see a glimpse of the pain they go through. And that can never be possible until one gets to face that man and listen to his heart cry.
