The Fiena Trials (5)

"An enchanted ring? Did Amira have the ring when we came through the portal?" That could be the only explanation, this man was but a wondering soul. "Yes. From generation to generation the ring was passed down to the leading Fiena. Your mom was the last and only survival after the killing of all Fiena's. She gave your cousin one task before she left to go meet your father and that was to give you the ring that I was imprisoned in."

Dracon pulled them out of his memory back into the Dragon Elder's study. "She actually grew to hate you because of your power she learned to lock your memories away from you. You had the heart of the man she wanted and because of that I was able to convince her to find the Door of Viaje but not without giving some consequence to you."

Leena knew all of this. "What does Kavira have to do with all of this?"

"She was the only vessel that appeared for me after I came back into this world. At the time I didn't realize that my father had also been imprisoned by the stones to open the door. I was supposed to take the child's body but your soul was breaking, so in order to save you I gave her a part of your soul and solidified you to awaken whenever your soul was ready. I took Izak's body."

"So you're saying that when Amira opened the portal your father also came back, how is it that there was no magic left in this world without any bad guys?"

"That'll be a conversation for another time. For now let's go meet the other and head over to the trials." Dracon took Leena's hand and led her down the path she came from to the cave where the rest of the group was. Leena was blushing, she knew it wasn't the Izak she knew but she couldn't help feeling butterflies in her stomach from his touch.

Clain pulled out his weapon first followed by everyone else. "How is Linx there and here at the same time?"

"Relax." Leena removed herself from Dracon's grasp and marched on over to the group. "This is Dracon, he is going to take Kavira and I through the Fiena Trials. Kizuato won't be coming today."

"You trust this guy?" Kavira had only heard the man's name once when the Dragon Elder mentioned it from Leena's story but she didn't really care much about that.

"I don't. I'm just interested in the trials." Leena turned around to face him. "What about Yùlóng when do I get it back?" She was speaking in a low tone, she didn't want the others to hear that she hadn't already asked him this. They were in a room together.

"You'll receive it once you both conclude the trials." Dracon could get lost in this woman's eyes but there was a familiar feeling from them. One that he wished to forget. "Came this way. We have to reach the Fiena temple which is about a days ride from here. Unlike all of you, I don't have a riding companion. I'll be going by foot so it'll take me about two days to reach the place."

"You can just ride with one of us."Linx wasn't too keen on keeping this guy around especially when he looks like him. If this was the person Leena was speaking about he was sure that she would be a lot more happy but she just felt more distant.

"I can't. Magical creatures don't like me." Dracon glanced towards the back of Leena. She had walked forward to where her golden cockatrice was and climbed on top.

"Come, I'm sure Lucky will accept you." Dracon smiled. It had been a very long time since he felt the kindness of someone just because they had a good heart. He approached and waited for the creature to make an alarming noise but he never did. By the time he reached the cockatrice he was allowed to pet him. His boyish laugh was heard and his eyes became teary.

This had never happened to him before, no matter how much he wanted to be around magical creatures they would never accept him for who he was, a dysfunction of nature.

Awwwwww Dracon I'm sorry!
