Chapter 3 "Unwanted Attention"
The event with Katherine yesterday was really unplanned it left me wondering why I comforted her since it wasn't any of my concern I've seen a lot of people in those kinds of situations before some of them were my previous classmates I just usually ignore them and avoid being a part of it but with Katherine something just felt wrong it felt wrong to just....leave her there all alone with no one to lean on I mean what's going on with me? This isn't my usual self? I'm a self-centered person why did I just suddenly felt the need to comfort her yesterday?, well I just hope that nothing else will change that everything will be just the same as I go to school.....
Seems like I spoke too soon as I arrived at school everyone was staring at me as I descended the stairs to the doors of the schools everyone who walked past by me stared at me, it made me feel uneasy and it even became worse when Jonathan Grey the school bully suddenly slung his arm around me it bothered me since he usually just leaves me and ignores me, I slowly removed his arm around me and I said "So what do you want Jonathan? You haven't bugged me since 5th grade? why now?" Jonathan just scoffs and said "Nothing bro its just...." he then leans in closer and said" I'm just simply worried by the attention you have been drawing to yourself lately" while he said that he had this scary grin on his face" Huh? How "IRONIC" FOR JONATHAN TO BE CONCERNED FOR A NERD LIKE ME I'M SO HONORED" I said sarcastically while my voice was closing in to what I believe I was near shouting due to anger then he just suddenly grabbed my right arm and squeezed it tight, then he suddenly slammed me to the locker and said" You got the nerve to say that to me huh?! you think you're a somebody huh? you're just a dork, useless, disposable nothing else a NO ONE"those last two words literally hit me, it made me really angry that I acted out of impulsively"You know I have EVERY right to say that to you after what you and Jace did to me in 4TH GRADE!!!"at this point I was certain I was screaming, I know I shouldn't have done that but Jonathan had crossed the line when he said I was a no one he had no right to call me that after what he did in 4th grade. Jonathan was so pissed after I said that then he lift up his other arm and prepared to throw a punch but just as his fist were about to collide with my face Jhonson grabbed Jonathan's fist and said" just leave him alone man...."Jonathan then let me go "today's your lucky day nerd..."he then pushed past the crowd and dissapeared,"hey Uhh.. Tom ..you okay?..."he knelt down and helped me gather my stuff I then said" What do you want Jhonson?" I said with a tinged of irritation and anger"nothing man I-I just want to help.."Jhonson said"oh Heh--"I said with a bit of amusement and surprise but this amusement of surprise wasn't the good one it was the bad type"what made you change your mind?Huh? back in middle school you just left me there while Jace did all those awful stuff to me...are you just doing this just to look good?" this time I stared at Jhonsons eyes and he stared back then he put his hands behind my back and said"Look man I just...I just want to help you"I then pushed his hand back and stood up and I said with a lot of rage"Oh REALLY?!!,what made you change your mind huh?!!!, back in middle school YOU DIDN'T EVEN CARE!!.....You didn't do anything as Jace just HUMILIATED me in front of everybody!!!! and you.....you just laughed all you care about is your stupid reputation you just want to look good so just..... just leave me alone..."After I said what needs to be said Jhonson was insitent on not leaving me alone because he said "Look what happened in the past was done I was a fool okay? But now I just want to be..."before he even finished his sentence I looked at him with a disgusted look and said" You're just a two faced scum...if you really wanted to mend our friendship you should have done that a long time ago....."As I stood I saw that Jhonsons face was full of guilt and regret but that still hasn't convinced me to forgive him just yet for all the awful things he has done to me in the past...
As Morning classes ended I went to lunch as if my day wasn't good enough Katherine joined my table which drew lots of attention towards me, as if they just noticed my presence for the first time.....as the gazes became unbearable I began to speak to Katherine in a whispered voice"uhh katherine sorry to disturb you but uh- can you kindly please transfer to another seat?" Katherine raised her eyebrows and spoke while her mouth was still full (quite rude right?)"Why would I do that?" it seems like she was completely unaware what was happening around her I was frustrated and told her directly"Katherine people are staring at me cause you're sitting to a nobody and it's making me uncomfortable....."I can see the hurt in Katherines eyes but it was for the best for the both of us to not be friends in the first place.....the two of us are- are complete opposites"Oh....so I-uhh I'll leave right now" I felt a tremendous amount of guilt and just decided that she just sit down with me just this time and let her finish her lunch"Hey..... katherine you don't have to leave today just finish your lunch....kay?" she replied in a rather sad tone which was completely different from her usual tone"kay..." both of us sat in silence and that gave me enough time to think why I'm in this kind of situation.....
