Chapter 1 "The Transfer Student"
I got up at 5:30 in the early morning on monday, I showered and got myself ready for the start of another hellish year in school,I already packed all of my things I need to survive in school.
After that I went downstairs to eat breakfast, as I was still descending down the stairs, my mom spotted me and said " good morning sweetie, I take it that you had a pleasant sleep?" she said it with a sweet smile
and I replied "uhhh yeah but still not looking forward to school though" I said blankly as I sat down at the dining area.
I sat down and saw my parents looking at me with troubled looks and it kinda irritated me to the point where I just burst out of anger.
" What? Are you guys still worried that I'd be alone again? Sitting at a corner all by myself with no one to talk to and feel sorry for myself!?" with my voice slightly rising as I uttered those words.
After a moments silence my Dad spoke "son.... we get it that you like being alone and all but...your mom and I are just worried you know... you've been like this since 4th grade we are just trying to look ou-" my dad wasn't able to finish talking because I got irritated and slammed the table very hard and shouted "YOU KNOW WHAT!?JUST STOP WORRYING ABOUT ME OKAY!? I'm doing just fine being alone, I like being alone in a corner where there are no other people present it- it gives me peace and relaxes my mind and besides I- I don't want to feel betrayed again....ok?"as I finished talking my eyes were already tearing up, and then mom approached me and hugged me and said
"ok Tom, we understand your decision just.....just know that me and your father are here to support you always" she planted a kiss on my cheek and, then I said" I- I am so sorry that I shouted....mom it's just that...."my voice cracked as I said those words I was so close to crying
"it's ok son, we forgive you we shouldn't have asked you that anyway I know that you'll be fine.....so you best finish up your breakfast or you'll be late" dad said with a smile"Urghhhh I wish school wasn't invented" the tension lessened as we laughed while eating breakfast.
I finally finished breakfast and waved and said I love you to both my parents before I went out the door.
When I got out I looked at my phone and saw that It was exactly 6:50, I mumbled to myself "crap, only a few minutes left hope that I can still catch up to the bus", so I ran as fast as I could but mind you though I am not a fast runner.
So as I turned a corner the bus was almost leaving and I just barely missed going early on the first day of school. After finding a seat in the bus I made a mental note to never argue with my parents in the morning.
The school bus exactly arrived at 7:08 A.M. at Westwood High school which means there are still a few minutes left to mingle with friends and whatever they do but it wasn't any of my business though.
I don't have anyone to look forward to in school except going home. As I left the school bus I saw tons of students walking and chattering that kinda made me nauseous so I plugged my earphones to block off all the sounds that surrounded me, after I did that, the nauseous feeling subsided and I was able to take a step forward to the school doors and I was lucky enough that I didn't collapse .
Westwood High is a very well known school it has a good reputation among students and attracts a lot of students each year
As I continued to walk the halls I caught a glimpse of students forming a semi circle and talking with each other, I didn't hear what they were saying cause I was wearing my earphones, then I kinda noticed that the group was composed of students that are well known at westwood.
I can see Jhonson Kane among the circle, a tall kid with brown wild hair with black eyes and considered as one of the handsome kids at school. Jhonson Kane is currently the captain of the school's soccer team and one of the top scorers in the country. Then there's Jessica Sanders, known as the most beautiful girl at school she has Blonde hair and blue eyes and works at a modeling company, her family is pretty well known in these parts of town because of their wealth and contributions to the school, and to no surprise she's also the captain of the cheerleading squad and Jhonsons Girlfriend.
I mean it's typically normal for the two most popular kids to end up together. I mean that's how the world works for them but not for me , I pretty much prefer to sit in a corner and just read. So moving on I went to retrieve my locker number and code and also my class schedule for the whole year, as I successfully retrieved them I went to my locker and stashed my things inside as I finished arranging my things in my locker
I went to my first subject which is english and is taught by Mr. Jonathan Garrison, The most favored teacher of Westwood High, Mr.Garrison has black hair that is always neatly kept and has a really calming smile, he has a slightly deep voice and despite his age he looks like he's still in his early 20's, as I entered the classroom everyone was in chaos , talking with friends, finding their own seats and all
And I for one spotted a chair where no student would be likely to sit in, as I sat down Mr. Garrison hurried all of the students to take their seats because he has an announcement to make so as per instructions by Mr. Garrison all of the students found their seats and listened as Mr. Garrison begins to speak.
"Ok good morning class I am entirely sure that most of you already know me" and almost half of the class agreed.So Mr. Garrison continued "so for those who do not know me yet I am Mr. Jonathan Garrison, you may call me Sir. Garrison or Mr. Garrison, whichever pleases you. But enough with the introductions and let me get straight to the point, as of today we will be joined by a new transfer student" the whole class gasped and were talking with each other as they were intrigued by this sudden transfer student.
And Mr. Garrison signaled to the door as if someone was already standing behind it, and to our surprise the door opened. The room was eerily quiet as we all anticipated what the transfer student looked like.
" Hey bro, I bet 5 bucks that the transfer student would be a dude haha "
" You know what, I bet 10 if its a pretty girl"
The two continued to chatter and It was getting pretty annoying, You know what I've had enough of their conversation.
As I was about to turn around and unleash my fury upon them, I raised my head and there she was standing in front of the room. Preparing to introduce herself, she took a deep breath and then…
"Good morning everyone, uhhh my name is Katherine Brook I'm 16 years old and I'm from new york, we moved here due to my fathers work which is located near Westwood "
as she finished introducing herself all of the guys were dumb struck because of her appearance, she has hazel brown hair and green eyes and looked very cute as she was wearing a dress that had flower patterns all over that just blended perfectly with her eyes, and her voice ....man I can't even explain it properly she has the sweetest voice even I for once was captivated never in my entire life something like this had ever happened to me.
As she finished Mr. Garrison said'' Ms.Katherine can you kindly take the seat next to Tom Anderson?" as I heard my name being called I sat up straight from my seat completely taken aback from the sudden mention of my name.
Katherine nodded and went to her seat which is just next to mine as she sat down the most rarest thing had happened, she greeted me by saying hello and my heart was beating crazy because A.) i don't know what to say and B.)She looks entirely different when she's this close to me.after that I managed to release a simple greeting without even looking at her.
The rest of the day passed by in a blur, I went to my locker to retrieve some of my things as I was ready to go home but as I closed my locker I could see that Katherine was standing just beside me and she said "hey never really got to introduce ourselves right and it's been really bugging me the whole day, is it okay if I introduce myself again? ,ok then I'll start first my name is Katherine Brook but you can call me Katherine''.
She extended her hand for a handshake. I for one was obliged to just ignore her and just walk away but I kinda find it hard to refuse her so I took her hand and shook it.
"uhhh Hi... I'm Tom.....Tom Anderson'' she then let go of my hand and she replied with a beaming smile
" I see cool name, it's nice to meet you Tom"
"uhhh yeah....nice to meet you too"
She then walked down the hallway and disappeared into the school doors. I banged my head to my locker and said " I'm such an Idiot why did I shake hands with her " after I finished contemplating my so-called poor decision I then left school and went straight home.
When I arrived the house was strangely quiet my parents are usually at home at this time already preparing dinner but as I approached the Front door I can see that there was a letter posted into the door that said
"Hi son, me and mom are gonna be late today for an emergency at the hospital so eat dinner without us, dinner's at the fridge love Mom And Dad".
I finished eating dinner. I cleaned myself up and washed the dishes. After then I relaxed in my room and I just went straight into bed and stared at the ceiling and wondered"was I wrong for accepting katherines handshake? Or was I right?" After thinking if my decision was right I slowly succumbed to sleep..
