Chapter 9

Eric got us a table at the far corner of the room and waited for the waitress to come and take our order. He was a sweet gentleman but I noticed he liked to talk more about himself . He told me about the numerous trips he went with his family and said he has relatives in Seattle when I told him I came from there.

"But I'm happy here in Los Angeles" I said when he asked whether I liked it here in Los Angeles or Seattle.

"Don't you miss your boyfriend" he said paying attention to what I had to say.

"Did I mention that I have a boyfriend" I laughed

"Well I wouldn't believe you if you told me you don't"

"Why ? "

"You are too beautiful to be single" he said and I blushed. How on earth did he do that .

"Well I've dated but I'm actually single at the moment" I said pointing the food I will have to the waitress. I ordered chicken drumsticks and fries .

"I bet those guys didn't have sense ..how on Earth would someone lose a beautiful heart like yours" he said as he ordered his food. He said he didn't eat chicken so ordered for beef rice and salad.

"I would never let you go if you were mine " he continued.

"Well your girlfriend must be lucky then" I said playing with my juice.

"I'm not dating.. I've actually never had a girlfriend" he said to my surprise.

"You kidding me right?"

"I'm not .. I've never dated.. dating wasn't my thing in high school" he replied.

"I wouldn't have believed you but I guess I understand..you study too much" I laughed.

"Yeah that's the point" he replied and we went ahead to eat our food in silence.

Ivan's POV

"What would you like to eat?" I asked Chloe who was busy on her phone.

"Pizza" she replied not looking at me. I grabbed the phone from her and she glared at me.

"Can you pay attention to me for just a minute without having to go through your phone?" I asked angrily.

"Are you insane Ivan I was posting a tweet!" she replied angrily.

"Is that important than me ? "

"It's equally important!" she yelled.

"You've been on your phone since I picked you up from your house.. what have you said to me.. I'm I a ghost to you or something?"

"Did I not kiss you..did I not tell you I miss you..did I not fucking reply your questions!" she yelled.

"You fucking replied my questions right but did you make fucking effort to ask how I was or how my day has been. All you care about is your fucking phone!" I said and threw the phone on her .

"I don't wanna argue with you at the moment babe I'm hungry" she said.

"Go get your own food!" I said and threw my credit card on her.

"I can't it's too crowded and I'm sorry please it won't happen again" she said trying to calm me down. I stared at her, rolled my eyes and stepped out of the car

"I love you!" she said but it sounded more like a tease. I walked through the crowd trying to cheer myself up . Chloe is always getting on my nerves since we dated and I actually regretted dating her. She wasn't like that when we were in the friends zone . She was so lovely and it was so much fun spending time with her.

"Large box of pizza please!" I said to the vendor.

"It will take a while can you sit down please" she said and I nodded in agreement. As I turned to find a place to sit, I caught Eric seated with a lady whose back was facing me.

"This guy !" I laughed and walked towards him.

"Bro!" I handshake him and turned to say hi to the lady.

"Amara!" My heart skipped a beat when her gaze met mine. She was looking more beautiful than the last time we met. Her hair was in a ponytail revealing her rounded face.

"Hello Ivan" she replied . I pulled the seat next to her and sat down, Eric glaring at me.

"It's been a while, are you trying to hide from me " I said looking at her.

"Why would I ?" she responded just as she always did.

"Maybe you can't pay the debt" I replied.

"Here!" she said handing me her credit card.

"It's been almost two weeks I no longer want cash"

"I owe you money dear and nothing more"

"I want to tutor you" I said pissing her off.

"Did I tell you I am dumb!" she replied angrily almost chocking on her food.

"I'm sorry .." I said handing her a glass of water. She took it and sipped as I rubbed her back.

"You almost killed me!" she threw off my hands and glared at me .

"Please stop pissing her off" Eric interrupted.

"I'm not comfortable here ..can I leave please!" she said to Eric.

"I will leave with you " Eric said getting up .

"Wait !" I held her hand firmly and she glared at me.

"What's it again!" Eric said.

"Can you leave us alone please" I said to Eric politely and he nodded even though he didn't seem pleased.

"Do I get on your nerves" I said looking straight into her eyes.

"You should know that yourself" she rolled her eyes as she sat down.

"I'm really sorry!" I said and she seemed surprised.

"I don't mean to make you angry.. your mom spoke to me after the dinner and she begged me to tutor you . Your parents really want the best for you and they said they will be happy if you can gain entry into a college like Boston or NYC. Did you think I fancy teaching or I wanted to make fun of you ... I'm more busier than you can imagine but seeing how your mom cared about your grades .. she really wants the best for you Amara and you shouldn't let your ego prevent you from making your parents happy" I said , stared at her face again and walked away. I was the one angry this time around , only God knows how much I hate teaching but she was making it sound as if I was into her.
