Chapter 13 : Being Vigilante In Easy Mode

As Garry walked out, Aaron shifted his attention to Luo, hoping he could offer some suggestions on how to put an end to the criminal activities in the orphanage's underground tunnels.

He thought that mercenary would be a viable solution, but Luo coldly dismissed the idea, urging Aaron to learn more about what being a mercenary truly meant. He emphasized that mercenaries didn't fight crime as they stood on the natural side of society, particularly the one founded by Garry.

Annoyed by the lecture, Aaron interrupted Luo. "Geez, chill dude. I was just asking," he said, hoping to steer the conversation back on track. "Do you have any ideas on how we can stop this, maybe even anonymously?"

Luo's expression softened slightly as he considered Aaron's request. "I'll help you this once," he said, finally.

"But we must keep this between us. My master would not approve of me wasting my time on something like this."

Aaron felt a rush of gratitude toward Luo.

After half an hour of discussion, Aaron and Luo came up with a plan to bring down the criminal activity in the underground tunnels. They decided to anonymously post a video of the tunnels with drugs included on a top social media platform. Luo volunteered to help with the uploading process while Aaron would be responsible for gathering evidence.

Aaron suggested knocking out anyone inside the tunnels and making an anonymous report to the authorities to see if their response, while also uploading the evidence online. Luo agreed to the plan and gave Aaron the responsibility of collecting the evidence.

As Aaron prepared for his first infiltration, he was impressed with Luo's reliability and attention to detail. He realized that Luo's cold demeanor was a result of his meticulous approach to his work, while Aaron was more of a laid-back type of person.

It was 10PM, and Aaron was standing outside the armory wearing a black-colored army uniform. The clothing was designed for stealth missions, and Luo explained that it was one of the best military specializations in the country. Normally, anyone else would need to bring a backpack or something to carry their belongings, but Aaron brought nothing, as he could keep his belongings with his space ring.

Luo was initially frustrated with Aaron's lack of preparation until he explained the magical ring to him. While preparing for his first mission, Aaron realized how reliable Luo was. He appreciated how meticulously planned and concise Luo's approach was, compared to his own chilly demeanor. The two spent half an hour discussing their plan to post the video of the tunnels with drugs on top social media platforms. Luo would help him with uploading the content, while Aaron would collect all the evidence.

Earlier that day, Aaron had left the training facility to visit his old home, teleporting to school from there. Luo didn't notice his absence until Aaron was already prepared to go on the mission.

"By the way, I'm not going to send you there, so just borrow some of the cars in the garage, and don't mess them up!" said Luo in his usual cold voice.

"It's okay bro. Wish me luck," replied Aaron before disappearing from the spot he was standing in, leaving Luo in shock. Despite this, Luo accepted the situation and reminded himself to report his findings to Garry, as instructed.

Aaron appeared in the underground store room with a soft sound of his footsteps. He had used his teleportation ring to arrive there, determined to investigate the illegal items stored in this secret location. The last time he had visited, he was short on time but now he could take all the time he needed.

He surveyed the room and was startled at the sheer quantity of drugs that were being stored in this secret hideaway. He estimated that the amount reached at least 10 tonnes, if not more. His attention was suddenly drawn to a wooden crate that looked out of place. Upon closer inspection, he found a transparent tube filled with green liquid inside, which was roughly the size of a mineral water bottle.

The design of the crate was completely different from that of the high-tech-looking tube inside. Aaron speculated whether the crate was deliberately chosen to conceal the tube. He grabbed one to see what's the tube all about. He was careful not to leave any fingerprints on it as he wore black leather gloves to cover his hands.

Aaron's curiosity piqued, he examined the label on the tube and found only a series number for the bottle, SHS1. Though he was intrigued by the green liquid, he had no time to ponder its contents. Carefully, he placed all five tubes inside his space ring and began recording the evidence around him.

Once done, he promptly sent the video to Luo and commenced his search for the guards responsible for protecting the illicit storage. Strangely enough, he found himself eager to complete this second task, not just for information, but also to test his combat skills.

Dressed in his special gear that included a slim night vision goggle and a dark-colored face mask, Aaron stealthily ventured through the dark tunnel, hoping to catch any guards who might be patrolling the area. However, much to his surprise, he couldn't find anyone around. It was as if all the guards had decided to take a break at the same time, or maybe they were up to something important. Undeterred, Aaron continued his search until he heard some voices coming from a short distance away.

"Hahaha, it's been ages since the manager left. I bet you're already passed out... Burppp..."

"Burppp... no, I'm n..."

"Klunggg" the sound of the last person dropping himself with the bottle echoed through the tunnel.

Aaron was disappointed when he realized the guards he was supposed to apprehend were heavily intoxicated. It was obvious that they couldn't be trusted to protect the underground tunnels in their current state.

On the bright side, he learned that the manager was not present, which meant that he had succeeded in his mission to a certain extent. Aaron carefully tied up the six guards on the ground without waking them up, using his advanced combat skills to ensure that they couldn't escape.

As he had predicted, the guards were completely knocked out from the beverages they had consumed, which made his job easier. He quickly reported what had happened to Luo and instructed him to upload everything immediately, as he teleported out of the location. Aaron just gone like that.

Aaron didn't immediately return to the training facility. Instead, he used his teleportation abilities to appear directly in Laura's office, where he left his resignation letter on her desk. It was the first time he had ever written such a letter, having previously only worked as a part-time employee who simply left when his contract was up. While Laura requested that he send the letter the following week, Aaron decided against meeting with her at school as he preferred to avoid drawn-out goodbyes.

He learned that not everyone could simply take a plane and land in the capital city, as the security thoroughly checked all individuals entering the city. Not to mention, applying for a flight ticket to the capital also required some time and involved a background check. Luo informed Aaron that as a platinum-ranked mercenary, he would not face any delays in the application process as it was part of the high-ranked perk.

Aaron let out a sigh, "I really don't want to use my mercenary identity as it will draw unnecessary attention. I know Garry will help me if I tell him about this, but I don't want to owe him too much," he thought to himself.

Aaron stood on the roof of the school before disappearing, after Luo texted him that the authority was taking action against the underground tunnel drug crimes. The videos of the incident went viral for a while before most of them were deleted by the authorities, but once something is on the internet, it tends to stay.awhile before most of them deleted by the authority. But still, once it was in the internet, it stays.

Luo was still on the phone with Garry when he said, "Alright master, I will let him know when he's back..." He stowed his phone away in his pocket and muttered to himself, "So, master really will do anything for him, huh... Why?Why?Why master.." He ruminated on the situation, pondering why Garry was so invested in Aaron's well-being.

It was then that Garry revealed his offer for Aaron to use his private jet to travel to the capital city. Luo was flabbergasted at the generosity, knowing that landing a private jet at the airport was a prodigious expense that few could afford. The journey to the capital would be completed in under two hours with the private jet, a stark contrast to the lengthy and arduous process of commercial travel.

Luo couldn't help but onder about the enigma of Garry's attachment to Aaron. Despite Garry's usual parsimony when it came to his possessions, he seemed to be making an exception for Aaron. At times, Luo even entertained the possibility that Aaron might be Garry's long-lost son, although he knew that such a scenario was virtually impossible.
