Chapter 39

Adair thought about it a bit and wondered how to make her hand light up to activate the table. She figured that it probably had to do something with her wings or some special organ that she didn't know she had. Still, in the end, she did not know how to use either if they were even the correct things to use, so she raised her hands in the universal question pose and made a questioning look at the man.

The man then looked at Adair, and it appeared as a thought of understanding reached his brain that maybe this girl was younger than he anticipated and did not know even the most basic of things she did not understand. This man then started to explain that she had to use the magic inside of her and send it into the table to activate the interface.

Adair still had no idea what the man was talking about, and in the end, the man just sighed and swiveled his hand around a bit on the table, and then suddenly, a crystal bowl and crystal utensils appeared out of nowhere. He then said, "if you ever need anything, just call my name Gragvoks out, and I will be out to help you as soon as I can. Now, little one, I need to go prepare food for other people, so enjoy your meal" and with that he headed back through the crystal door into the kitchen.

While Adair tried to do what the man said and tried to send her "magic" into the table but nothing was working at all. She assumed that she was just doing the process wrong, but she did worry that maybe she just did not have the magical talent. She set that matter aside, though, because the food in front of her smelled amazing, and she was starving.

She then took the ladle that the man left on the table and gave herself a massive scope of the food inside the pot. The food looked like a normal soup based on the looks of it in Adair's bowl, but when she took a bite of the meat, it was probably the most tender, delicious thing that she had ever eaten.

The spices were all over the place as well at one moment; it tasted like the only seasoning was salt and pepper, then it switched to a garlic taste than to several flavors that Adair had never had before, let alone describe.

She also noticed that with each bite she took, her wings were starting to light up again, which made her happy because she now at least knew that at least she did not permanently damage her body by drinking the black poison from the well.

The food was very delicious, and once she finished her first bowl, she easily decided to go for a second bowl since the food did not seem to fill her up much at all. As she ate the delicious food, she started to think about her teacher and why she would do what she did. Was there going to be a different teacher to play good teacher, bad teacher, with her? Or was she really that cruel to just mix up all the different languages together? The more Adair thought about it, the more messed up the situation was.

The teacher asked her to respond, and when she didn't, she had assumed that Adair could not understand her, but even with that, she did not try to explain it in a different way at all. What would Adair do if she really could not understand what the lady was saying? She would be left with no instruction at all, and that would make it impossible to even begin learning the flashcards.

The more she thought about it, the worse opinion she had of her language teacher. She then realized that maybe this teacher was supposed to teach her more than just languages. What if she was supposed to teach her math, science, and magic as well? If this was the case, then wasn't she screwed since this teacher already left?

Well, all she could do was hope that this was only the language teacher and that there would be other teachers to teach her different things. By the time she was done thinking about this, she was already on her eighth serving, and when Adair got it, she felt the bottom of the pan with the ladle. Luckily for her, she was probably going to stop after this serving because while she was already full, the food tasted so good that she couldn't help herself but finish the meal.

When she finished the meal, she was completely satisfied, and even a dim light appeared in all of the feathers instead of just a few. The man said that the meat in the meal was Golden Yeti. I need to remember that for future reference because if my wings lighting up has some beneficial effect, then I will need to know what animals do and do not give me this power.

This is because while Adair did not know why having her wings light up was a good thing she just felt that she would need to have them lit up in the future for some reason.

Adair then wondered what to do with the dishes on the table because she did not know how to use the interface to remove them from the table so she decided that she would go ask the man what she was supposed to do with the dishes. So she went to the door and when she started to push it open the man appeared and asked "what can I do for you, little one" Adair then pointed at the dishes on the crystal table.

The man then laughed and said, "just leave them there. I will have someone come and get them in a moment." and after saying that closed the door and when Adair tried to push it open again, it would not budge.

She soon realized that she did not find a bathroom yet in this house and that soon became her biggest priority. So she exited the dining room back into the foyer and into the room that she fell asleep in. She then went through the door, not leading to the hallway that led to the classroom but straight through the room to a new hallway.

This hallway, though, had pictures of all different types of beings ranging from people who looked like humans to pictures that appeared to be empty until she got very close she was able to see a small bug in the picture to pictures that looked like just a single green mountain and she didn't know if that green mountain was just a picture of a landscape or if it was actually a being like the rest of the animals in the pictures.

While she spent a bit of time looking at the pictures to see if any of them looked like any animal she had met, she did not recognize any of the animals in the pictures. Luckily though, she was able to find a bathroom at the end of the hallway.

After she used the restroom, she went exploring again, and she found at the other end of the hallway with pictures a small library. After she entered the library, she tried to pull a book off of the bookshelf, but it was as if the book was glued in place.

She looked around and found a small crystal table in the middle of the room, and Adair quickly realized that she probably had to use the interface on the table to remove any of the books on the shelves.

She briefly tried the table to see if she could somehow access this table, but as she expected, nothing happened when she tried. She then exited the library and went past the bathroom, and at the end of the hallway, she found an entrance to the theater room and a staircase leading up to the second floor.

She went up this staircase as well, but to her dismay, this one was also locked at the top. She then went down and entered the ballroom, and she found that the ballroom had a few different exits. One was the hallway that had led to the classroom. Another appeared to lead directly into the classroom, then lastly, a room that she had not explored yet, which was on the complete opposite side of the room from where she was currently standing. She decided that that was the next room she was going to explore.

So she went over and tried the door, and it seemed to be a bit stuck but not locked. Adair briefly contemplated on whether she should open a door in an unknown house that appeared not to be opened in a significant amount of time, but her curiosity got the better of her, and she forced herself into the room by running into the door several times, and eventually, the door creaked open and what she found was a room completely covered in dust.
