Muller

Ludwig looked satisfied. He knew that the sporting project Leicester were offering was great. Competition at clubs like Bayern was very harsh. Even though Muller was in U-19 echelon of Bayern, he wasn't even a regular starter there. Ludwig knew Muller could do more if put in a more suitable situation.

Ludwig had also been contacting clubs in the lower divisions in Germany, and there were a few clubs interested in Muller, no one had offered such promising conditions. And John Baker knew about Muller's game, that was a positive sign, that means they have observed Muller and then decided to field this proposal. That gave Leicester more credibility.

Ludwig discussed with Muller, "I think this is a great opportunity for you. They've studied your game and are willing to invest in you. They are trying to sign you as a winger, but I've already told you in the past that you would play better coming from deeper positions."

Ludwig explained to Muller. He knew that Muller was very hardworking and was willing to make changes to his game acc. to team's needs. He was a team player, trying to help his team win and for that he was willing to do whatever was asked of him.

"But playing for Bayern is my dream. I've dreamt of playing for Bayern since I was a kid." Muller replied to Ludwig with slight reluctance.

Muller was born in Wilheilm in Oberbayern, Bavaria. He grew up in the nearby village of Pahl, watching the Bayern Munich dominate the German football and dreaming of playing in the club's red shirts. He joined Bayern ranks in 2000 at just 10 years old and his dream looked ever closer to him. Now, 17, he was in the U-19 team of Bayern. Even though he wasn't a regular, he wanted to prove himself to the club.

"I know, but you have to be at that level to play for Bayern Munich. This is a great opportunity to progress towards that dream." Ludwig said, knowing the kid's love for Bayern.

"I'm not saying to stay away forever. I'm just saying that this will be a great learning experience for you. You are still growing as a player, you need the playing time against quality opposition to maximise your potential. And at Bayern, its not looking possible to get you minutes that you need right now." Ludwig tried to persuade Muller.

"They've already promoted Kroos to the first team and for a team like Bayern, playing too many young players will be difficult. So, I recommend you to join Leicester right now, play there and learn and then you can return to Bayern when you are at that level. I'm sure they would be able to buy you back if you're good enough and willing to play for Bayern." Ludwig said to Muller.

Ludwig was genuinely concerned for Muller. The lad was unselfish and was hardworking but he had seen many hardworking players not being able to fulfil their potential due to lack of opportunities.

Muller looked very conflicted, trying to determine the best path for him going forward.

"But you know that I'm going to be engaged to Lisa soon. How will that work out if I leave Germany?" Muller asked Ludwig, concerned.

"So that's what you are worried about. Don't worry, you will earn enough to be able to take her to Leicester alongside you if you are able to convince her." Ludwig said to Muller, looking amused.

Lisa Trede was Muller's longtime girlfriend and they were set to be engaged as soon as he turned 18 in September. Ludwig knew that he wasn't going to leave her here.

"I think I can convince her." Muller said to Ludwig with a silly smile.

"So, what do you think. Are you willing to go to Leicester?" Ludwig asked Muller.

"Yes, if it helps make me a better player, I am." Muller replied, his voice firm and his decision made.

Ludwig looked at John Baker, the Leicester City owner and President of the club. There were many contradicting things about him. He looked very young but acted with experience. He was very eager to sign Muller but also was patient, sipping at his coffee and giving them a significant time to discuss things with a calmness rarely seen in young people.

On the other hand, Leicester City's German speaking Sporting Director, Michael Edwards, who also looked very young, was getting antsy becauses of waiting. Ludwig could see that he was new at this job. Maybe he was capable at other aspects of his job, Ludwig didn't know. But he sat their alongside his boss without complaining.

Finally coming at a decision, Ludwig didn't want to wait and wanted to get the deal done as soon as possible.

"Mr. Baker, we are willing to join Leicester." Ludwig said to John and Michael.
