Ch. 21: Time to Operate.

Selk's P.O.V.

I flew as fast I could back to my dorm room as I used my cloaking magic curtesy of Wyvern Chameleon skill I put on these wings. I don't want any rumors spreading around that there's a winged monster in this city after all.

I finally reached home where Allice and Ponpon were waiting for me. I entered through the window, much to the two's surprise.

Allice: "Dr. Selk, Who is that girl? And Why did you enter through the Window?"

Allice asked while she was feeding Ponpon on her lap.

Selk: "Long story short, She's my home room teacher, Prof. Levizla. She's having problems with her mana distribution, so I'll need to operate on her."

I answered her in the fastest way I could while preparing Prof. Levizla for the operation. I summoned a magic circle in front of me and constructed an operating table made out of keratin from a Lake Rhinos' Horn, the cleanest animal in this world. These monster's emits light particles that destroys bacteria. That's the power I need to make sure this operation is a success.

Selk: "Allice, I'll need your help in performing this operation."

I told Allice as I placed the unconscious body of Prof. Levizla on the table. Allice however, was not particularly confident that she could assist me in something like that.

Allice: "M-m-m-me? I-I-I don't think I could do something like that, Dr. Selk."

Selk: "Don't worry about it, Allice. All you'll need to do is administer and maintain the anesthesia spell so that Prof. Levizla wouldn't feel the extreme pain from the surgery."

I told her as I took my uniform off to further avoid infecting the teacher.

Allice: "B-but I don't know any anesthesia spells. W-what am I going to do, Dr. Selk?"

Allice panickingly said as she flailed her hands to gesture that she doesn't want to be part of the operation. I However, already had a plan to help her learn how to perform the spell. I raised my left hand towards Allice and summoned a magic circle to implant the memory of how to perform an anesthesia spell. It was clear from Allice's surprised expression that she felt the change in her brain.

Allice: "D-Dr. Selk, w-what did you do in my head?"

Allice asked, sweating as she was probably worried of the changes I made to her from the spell I just casted.

Selk: "You see, Allice, there are cells in the brain that are called Neurons that stores memories. I just reconstructed some Neurons that has the memory of an anesthesia spell in your brain. Now you can perform the spell without training. Don't worry, it's perfectly safe."

I explained to Allice in the most simples way I possibly could.

Allice: "O-okay! I think I just heard something unbelievable, but if you say it's safe, then I'll trust your word, Dr. Selk."

Allice replied, now with a bright smile on her face. I then asked her if she now has any memory of how to perform the anesthesia spell, and she said that she does. I then asked her to perform the spell on my left arm, and she did with a questioning gaze. She did as I told her, and I then cut my left arm deeply with a crystal scalpel. Allice produced an audible yelp from what I did as she watch the blood poured from my wound, yet I didn't feel any pain.

Selk: "Good job, Allice. Your anesthesia spell worked amazingly."

I told Allice, praising her for a job well done, while I healed my cut. She then asked a question that was probably bugging her ever since I told her about her role in the operation.

Allice: "Dr. Selk, I-is it really going to hurt that bad?"

Selk: "If I remember it correctly when I did this operation on myself, it would be like diving back first into a lake of razor sharp swords while a mountain is falling on top of you."

I watched as Allice turned pale from the mention of the pain I went through when I did the same operation on myself when I was eleven years old. I felt she wanted to know more about my self surgery, but didn't say anymore, choosing to focus on the task at hand.

Allice: "S-so, what's going to happen in this operation, exactly, Dr. Selk?"

Selk: "Great question, Allice. We will be infusing two mana crystals and Orichalcum onto Prof. Levizla's spine. This will allow her body to produce mana and maintain her bodily function without any risk of infection."

I told Allice who is now preparing to cast the spell she just learned once she had drank more of the mana restoration potion I gave her. Without any further delays, Allice and I start performing the surgery.

Allice created her magic circle to imbue Prof. Levizla's sleeping body with the anesthesia spell. Once I was sure the anesthesia is fully in effect, I used the scalpel I had to start making specific incisions throughout the professor's back to expose her spine.

The anesthesia spell that Allice casted was doing it's job amazingly, as I have successfully cut up Prof. Levizla's back to the point where her spine is now fully exposed without her even making a peep. With the power of the keratin purifying the surroundings, and Allice keeping her from feeling the tremendous pain of her surgery, I started to construct the two soul stones and the orichalcum spine plate that I will be infusing onto the professor.

Once done with the construction, there were two major step that I needed to make sure I completed. First, the Orichalcum plate needed to be DNA compatible with the Professor's flesh and bone, so I re-wrote the bio-metal's molecular structure until it matches Prof. Levizla's. The second step was to shrink the soul stones from their original regular lemon size to the size of an apple seed and attach them to the spinal cord plate. This will prevent Prof. Levizla's body from rejecting both the plate and the soul stone since they will be recognized as her body parts.

Selk: "You can look away if you want to, Allice. just maintain the spell."

I told Allice as I saw her grimaced upon seeing the exposed flesh and bones of the professor."

Allice: "I-it's okay, Dr. Selk. I can keep going."

She bravely replied as I prepared to take the final and most difficult step of the operation. I didn't just need to fuse the Orichalcum plate to the bone of the spinal cored, but I also needed to fuse it to the nerves as well since the spine is the body part that produces mana. Once the plate is attached, Prof. Levizla will have more mana then ever before.

It took me almost thirty minutes to attach the thousands of nerve endings of the the Professor's spine onto the Orichalcum plate, but over all the surgery was a success. I then healed the professor's incision once I verified that the new soul stones are properly producing mana.

Allice: "Is she okay now, Dr. Selk?"

Allice questions as she looked upon the the professor, her unmoving body still splayed belly first over the surgical table with her naked back exposed to us.

Selk: "Yes she is. I just checked on her vitals and she's as right as rain."

I answered Allice as I unmade my surgical equipment.

Allice: "That's good to know. Now, may I ask? If you were able to just give people memories, why did you have me study those magic circles? They were really hard to memorize, you know."

Allice complained out of nowhere as she pounded her fists on my chest out of frustration. Pouting as she did so.

Selk: "Ow! Sorry about that, but I wanted you to rely on your own capabilities. This time was just because of an emergency. If I just implanted memories in your brain then you wouldn't learn anything on your own. I can't let my apprentice become a lazy bum that can't stand on her own without relying entirely on me, can I?"

I relied to the frustrated Allice who quickly stopped her adorable assault on me once she heard my reasoning.

Allice: "S-so, you did that for my sake? I-I guess it can't be helped then. Thank you Dr. Selk."

As I clear the misunderstanding Allice and I had, Prof. Levizla started to stir until she finally woke up. She looked around appearing to be distressed as she tried to make sense of her surroundings. She then finally noticed me and Allice standing above her and started to refer to me with a moniker I forgot she dubbed me of.

Levizla: "L-Lord Gore Traveegal? W-what happened to me? Where am I?"

Allice: "D-Dr. Selk, why is she calling you as Lord Gore Traveegal? I thought you said she is okay now?"

Allice said, questioning my previous diagnoses of the professor's condition. I then whispered in her ears the reason for the confusing scenario she is seeing right now.

Selk: "She saw me construct a magical frog earlier and now she thinks I'm the reincarnation of Lord Gore because of it. I already told her I'm not the Flesh God, but she wouldn't listen."

As I shared this information to Allice, I thank the Gods that those elf ears on Prof. Levizla's head are just for show, since all elves, (Excluding the Dark Elves who are the most powerful race of Elves there ever was) had the same hearing as humans. Prof. Levizla wouldn't be able to hear what I was whispering to Allice.

Allice: "Is that right? That doesn't sound good, but I think I might have an idea of how to make her understand"

Allice whispered back to me, flashing a mischievous smile that I haven't seen her give me from our time together. She then addressed Prof. Levizla on my behalf.

Allice: "Hi there, Prof. Levizla. My name is Allice. I'm Dr. Selk's apprentice. I heard that you're Dr. Selk's teacher, right? Thank you very much for taking care of him during class."

Allice said as she greeted my teacher, sounding more mature than usual. Looks like she might be picking up Vina's mannerisms and speech patterns more and more as the days go by.

Levizla: "Oh my, Lord Gore Traveegal has a Brownie as his apprentice, I see. Tell me, Allice, How long have you and the great Flesh God been traveling together? Has his greatness taught you any magics yet? If so, please tell me in details what they are."

Prof. Levizla replied eagerly to the child before her. Her excitement palpable as she heckled my apprentice.

Allice: "W-well you see, first off, Dr. Selk really isn't the Flesh God. But, he is pretty close to Lord Gore."

Allice said as she tweedled her thumbs together, nervous upon speaking to my teacher, but she continued none the less.

Allice: "Dr. Selk is actually the Secret Seventh Hero that was chosen by Lord Gore himself to save this world."

Levizla: "Y-you mean, Selk is a Champion Hero? S-so, even though Selk isn't the real Flesh God, his power are still directly derived from that of Lord Gore Traveegal, Right?"

Prof. Levizla said as she stared at me, as if pleading for confirmation. I ignored Prof. Levizla's questionings though, and pulled Allice aside as I continued our conversation in whisper, turning away from the professor as we did so.

Selk: "Hey, Allice. What do you think you're doing telling my professor that I'm the Hero of Flesh? I can't have just anyone knowing my secret, otherwise the kingdom will force me to serve as a knight or the king's personal body guard."

Allice: "Don't worry, Dr. Selk. I have a feeling we can trust her, Dr. Selk."

Allice assured me as we turn back to Prof. Levizla, try and persuade her to not reveal my secret. Once we were facing Prof. Levizla, Allice and I found her flexing her hands and looking at them inquisitively.

Levizla: "Lord Selk, what has happened to my body? It feels as if I feel much stronger than I was earlier. In fact, I feel like I'm over flowing with power."

Selk: "Oh! Well, Since you've had those soul Stones attached to you for so long your body couldn't function properly without them. So, I replaced them with an implant on your spine that will produce the needed mana to sustain your body."

I replied to Prof. Levizla's question. Prof. Levizla's body then began to tremble like a leaf in the wind as she tried to make sense of what I said. After a few more minutes of Flexing her hands over and over again, Prof. Levizla finally became responsive. Although, her response was something I was not ready for.

Levizla: "Please, Lord Selk. Take me under your wing and make me into your apprentice."

The veteran Professor asked me as she got on both hands an knees in a similar dogeza posture as Prof. Lecter, begging for my tutelage.
