Chapter 2

Everyone began filling into the meeting hall. They were desperate to hear Nobunaga's war plan. Everyone sat on the edge of their seats as they waited for him to arrive.

When the lord walked in with such a calm and relaxed demeanour it made them all grow worried. Well everyone but Masumune who relaxed a lot at the others demeanour.

'So I did get through to him after all I see' he thinks to himself as Nobunaga walked through and sits on his chair in the top centre of the room.

Everyone there was shaking with anticipation and worry. The calmness is what they feared, usually it was never like this.

Once Nobunaga had sat down he nodded and pulled out some parchment from his pocket.

"I know you all came here to hear a war plan. But instead of playing the attack. We will be playing the defence." Nobunaga says and this causes everyone, apart from Masumune to look at Nobunaga slightly confused.

Hideyoshi tilts his head. "I know you mean well my lord but what exactly do you mean?" Hideyoshi asks him and Nobunaga chuckles.

"We. Will all be going on a lovely two week retreat to calm the tensions down. We are NOT taking an army. We are simply going to go there and play the defence and relax for a while. We will let the kingdom know and spread the word." Nobunaga says and everyone tilts their heads again but nods.

This was Nobunaga's plan. Everything he does is for a reason. And all of his plans work out well. There was no need to account against his word.

"Pack today as we will be heading off on horseback tonight. Council conquered." Nobunaga says before he stands up and heads out of the room.

People began muttering about maybe Nobunaga had gone crazy. But work about the retreat began to spread fast. And this is exactly what he wanted.

As he was walking Masumune caught up with him. "Hey. You're amazing. You know that?" He says and Nobunaga chuckles softly.

"Yes. I know. This retreat will do the best of both worlds. It will get our enemies out of hiding, it will keep the kingdom thinking I'm a great mastermind and warlord, all the followers will still be following me. And we could end the wars with our enemies." He says and Masumune chuckles.

"The best of both circumstances. You are truly amazing Nobunaga Oda." He says as he chuckles and slips past the other, heading to his own suite to pack.

Once everyone had arrived back at their rooms they began to pack their things. One person packing rather quickly.

Once he had packed he then slipped out of his room and up to Nobunaga's room, sliding the door open before sliding it shut behind him.

"Your plan. Are you sure it will work?" He asks and Nobunaga looks over before chuckling.

"Hideyoshi. How nice of you to drop by. But I hope so. The worst that can happen is that nothing changes. The best that can happen is that we unite the kingdoms without more death and we keep our people." He says and Hideyoshi sighs before going over and wrapping his arms around Nobunaga.

"I hope you're right my lord. I hope this retreat does all you wish for. And I supposed it would be nice to get away for a while. Without the worry of the kingdom." He says and Nobunaga smiles.

"Exactly. I'm sure word has made it around the kingdom fast." He says.

And indeed it had. It had made it around the kingdom and to the undercover visitors there.

Kenshin and Yukimura both looked at each other when they had caught word of Nobunaga's battle plan.

"They're going on retreat? With no army? Just the warlords themselves? Now that is something interesting. It's like they're asking for assassination." Kenshin says and Yukimura nods.

"I agree lord. But we still stand much more of a chance of an assassination to him with no army around." Yukimura replies and Kenshin nods.

"The man has truly gone mad. It's exciting." Kenshin speaks out as the two then exit the city and towards home to tell the others.

There was also one pirate and monk who had heard about what was going on.

Kennyo smirked. "Well then. Isn't that wonderful Motonari? Another chance to assassinate." He says with a smirk but the pirate rolls his eyes.

"Ye 'nd every other enemy of 'is. Ken we don't stand a chance and ye know it. Not unless we 'r' the first ones to 'sassinate 'im." Motonari replies and Kennyo chuckles.

"Sounds great. We'll be the first then." Kennyo replies back and the two nod. What a great ally relationship they had formed.

It was now sunset and the warlords were packing their bags to the carriage carriers and onto the horses.

"Okay then. It seems as if we have everything. And everyone. Let's head to this retreat and enjoy ourselves." Nobunaga says and everyone nods as they get onto their horses and begin their journey.
