The Fifth Legendary Hero

The legend about the four great heroes who would face the demon lord, and prevail. Joshua read a lot of novels about that, but he never thought he would become one of them... "I know Goddess, I'm one of the four chosen heroes that are blessed by the Gods, right?" Joshua mocked in front of an extraordinary beauty. "How did you know about the four heroes? But you're almost right, you're actually the fifth hero." "Wait, what?" The Gods blessed four individuals from Earth, turning them into four legendary heroes. But something unexpected happened. The God of Gods, who never blessed any individual decided to do that to Joshua. 'He will be the strongest among all, and a back up in case the four heroes can't handle the demon lord.' Joshua didn't want that. He wanted to explore the world as he pleased, and not chase the demon lord. 'I'll live a comfy life filled with beauties' Joshua couldn't wait.

New Armor Set

A man with a great sword is a scary sight. But a man with a flaming greatsword is even more so. The goblins, who were so sure about their victory over that human, now thought differently. It was not an ordinary human but a beast hidden, waiting to pounce and attack its foes.

Joshua's sword swang up and down, left and right. All it took was one blow, and a goblin would perish. It was scary. Corpses piled up, and if one saw that, they would be sleepless for at least a week.

Blazing Rage, a divine grade skill, was not weak. Joshua did not doubt that, and everyone that knew his power did not as well. But it was clear now that the ability somehow messed up with his mind. While transformed, thoughts of anything other than violence were rare. It was safe to say that Joshua was in a berserker state while using the skill.

Anyway, the important thing was that the skill saved his life. After some time, the Lieutenant was the only one left within the first room of the cave. The fight would have a second round, and Joshua was sure he would prevail.

"Come on! I will show you what true strength is." Joshua yelled, even though he knew a goblin would not understand that.

Both parties clashed their swords in no time. Before, Joshua would be pushed back due to the impact, but now, it was safe to say that the Lieutenant was in trouble. It had been only the first exchange of blows, but the Lieutenant's sword showed signs of cracking. He even flew after the strike, hitting the cave's wall twenty meters behind him.

Joshua was strong. One could tell the difference with each additional point, so having all attributes tripled was extraordinary.

The Lieutenant was sure about its defeat. He did not look scared or beg for his life. For him, it was an honor to die while in combat.

Losing to someone stronger than you is not shameful, but losing to someone weaker is the apex of being dumb.

These were the goblin's last thoughts before Joshua's sword ended his life.

'You fought well, goblin. May you find peace.'

Joshua left the cave looking even worse than before. Now only pieces of cloth covered his body, mainly the parts that no one could see. Well, the trip had been worth it, at least. He was level 3 after clearing that first room. Maybe he would be level 5 after whipping all of the goblins, as it was his goal in the first place.

'I'll not use my free points just yet.' Joshua did not know if his newly crafted armor would require some specific points, so he was waiting to use them to make sure.

'Not bad, not bad. My health increases by leveling up, but I'll also put some points in other attributes rather than only strength.' Joshua did not know how to build up his attributes as he leveled up. Strength was his main attribute, but everything else looked promising as well.

Amidst all of that, he hoped that his armor would not take that long to craft. Joshua was tired of looking like a homeless person, almost naked.

It was already late. Joshua spent some hours inside that cave. Birds were not singing anymore, as now predators would come out, looking for food. The moon made the path clearer and being someone smart, Joshua did not linger away from the road. After his Blazing Rage ended, all of his attributes suffered a debuff. For that reason, he did not rush to his house and took his time. He was already in a weakened state, so it was wise to lay low and not attract the attention of powerful beasts.

Someone opened up a rusty wooden door. It was Joshua. He got to his house after much suffering, and with that in mind, he hastily went to bed. That fight drained him, then the debuff and the trip to his house. Joshua was not the man he used to be, so he had to rest.

~~~~
Fifteen hours passed. That was a lot of sleeping. With that, his debuff passed, and he felt a lot better. Joshua was now like a new man.
'Maybe my armor is already done.' Having that thought in mind, Joshua went to the village. A ragged man with a greatsword. Everyone was used to seeing him like that. They saw him enter the village, but soon all got back to their doings.
After some time, a beautiful house was in front of Joshua. It was already late afternoon, so no clients were around. Joshua entered, and the grey-headed man was already waiting for him.
"Your clothes look worse than before." The man said with his arms crossed.
"Yeah, some things happened." Joshua did not intend to tell the man about his adventures, so he quickly went directly to what mattered.
"Is my armor ready?"
"If it is ready? Young man, I've finished it not long after you gave me the materials." The man smiled, getting up from his comfy couch. Soon he came back with a blueish armor in his hands.
The leather was of high quality, as Joshua could tell it was sturdy only by looking at it. The armor set had a blueish color, as the pelts Joshua gave the man had that color. He used it to make a cloak.
Joshua loved it. The cloak made him look like a real beast, and it looked badass.
"This is a masterpiece."
"It is indeed. When you hunt stronger beasts you can come here, and I'll upgrade your armor set," The man said, selling his services to Joshua once more.
"Absolutely. Thank you!"
With that, they parted ways. Joshua hid in a bush nearby and equipped his newly acquired armor.
