The Female Lead

#WSA2024 Have you ever wished of traveling to another world? Traveling to a place filled with magic and magical creatures, being part of a wonderful and powerful family? Being loved and admired by people, especially cute, hot and dreamy guys?. Well, guess what? You are not the only one. One of the things she has ever wished for was to transmigrate to another world, leave her awful, stressful, God forsaken life behind. Meeting handsome and hot guys who would do anything and everything for her attention. Well if wishes were horses, riders would ride. And truly wishes were horses because it finally came true. After another stressful, boring day of work just as she slowly drifted off to sleep Emilia Jones finally transmigrated to her favorite novel ‘Twisted Fate'. A novel that is on everyone's lips, it is all over social media, everyone is dying to know what would happen next as each pages unfold, discovering new path each character takes and not to forget how hot the characters are, especially the male leads. Now Emilia Jones is finally part of the novel but here is a twist, she did not transmigrate to the heroine, who has the purest of heart, her silver long, silky hair glows in the moonlight, with twinkling blue eyes that captivates every soul that gazes at it, her voice was as angelic as ever, enticing every one to it's tune, she was the ride or die of all the male leads. She also didn't transmigrate to the villainess, her heart is colder than ice, her hair darker than ebony and her eyes red as velvet, she was the one many people in the novel feared. Being the one with magical powers that transcended all except the Royal family, she took everything and anything she wanted but she could not have the hearts of the male leads. You would think that she transmigrated as a supporting character but nope, an extra…. Maybe. Her soul passed into the body of a thick skull, half-witted, her stupidity knew no bound. The only thing good about her was that she came from one of the powerful families in the country, her power was known to be the weakest, a flicker of a flame. She was a beauty to a point and she had only a few scenes in the novel and experienced a very idiotic death. She was the beanbrain that Emilia transmigrated into. This was not part of her wish!!.

His Royal Highness.

I gaped at her, still reeling in shock. Lady Adeline, the female lead of 'Twisted Fate' stood in front of me. She looked exactly as how the author described her. Her long silver hair flowed seemlessly around her waist. Her big twinkling blue eyes were alluring, now I understood why the Crown Prince fell for her. They were captivating.

She smiled warmly at me.

I didn't know what to tell her, maybe I could go like this; Hey I am Emilia Jones a fan whose soul surprisingly transferred into a character from my favorite novel and you are the female lead in it. Yay!!!. She will think I am a freak.

"Did I take you by surprise?" She asked, concern clouded her eyes.

"No! You didn't!" I replied, slowly.

"We haven't been properly introduced. I am Lady Adeline Ashbourne daughter of Count Ashbourne!" She said with a light curtsey.

"Lady Rosalind Everhart, daughter of…"

"I know who you are" she said, cutting me off, taking me by surprise.

"You do?"

"Yes, you are Duke Everhart's daughter!" She pointed out.

"Yes I am!" I replied nervously, it felt so surreal talking to her.

"Like I said earlier, those girls are just jealous of you! The gown looks better on you than it will be on any of them!" She said in an approving tone.

"Thank you for that! It is the first nice thing that anyone has ever said to me this night!" I replied, feeling touched at her words.

"I don't deserve that but you are welcome!" She said.

I was taken aback by her words. Even the way she spoke sounded so pure and full of humility.

The sound of a blaring horn drew our attention, our gaze landed on the indomitable herald standing at the top of the stairs. His face was as apathetic as ever.

"Ladies and gentlemen! May I introduce the members of the Alderian Royal Family!" He yelled.

Looking as regal and majestic as ever, The King and Queen stepped down the stairs, smiling warmly at their guests. Behind them were two young men wearing royal suites. Their features had an almost resemblance to the King. Their golden hair was combed and neatly trimmed with crystal blue eyes that attracted a few noble ladies in the room. They walked towards their seats located at the far end of the room.

"Wow the Princes are so handsome!" I heard one lady say.

"I could stare at them all day!" Another added.

Almost half of the ladies in the room gaped at them, enthralled at their gorgeous looks.

I rolled my eyes at their remarks. They were handsome to a point.

I turned around to leave, not wanting to be a part of the ball.

"Where are you going?" Lady Adeline asked.

"I need to get a bit of fresh air!" I replied.

"Great! May I join you?" She asked all of a sudden.

"No!" I yelled, to the surprise of everyone and Adeline. "You just stay here and enjoy your evening!" I said in a normal tone.

Adeline stared at me, confused.

"Trust me! You will not regret that decision!" I said.

She nodded slowly, she didn't push her request any further.

I turned around and walked off, making my way through the guests.

"Where is the Crown Prince?" A noble man close to me asked his friends.

It dawned on me. He didn't arrive the same time with the rest of the Royal family. My curiosity got the better of me.

"Maybe I can leave after a glance at the Prince!" I said, standing close to the door that led to a terrace.

The muttering of the Crown Prince's absence elevated in the room. It soon died down as someone stood at the top of the stairs, the aura he exuded was dark and illuminous, he looked down at the guests like they were insects, his face filled with disdain.

As he drew closer to the guests, I let out a gasp, the novel didn't do good to his features, he looked better than the author described him. What those noble ladies said about the Princes felt like an understatement when it came to him, his brothers were no match for his good looks. He was the one I could stare at all day.

He stood tall as he approached the guests, commanding authority with every step he took, his golden hair was messy and fell to his shoulders, some locks fell to his face, framing his chiseled features. His crystal blue eyes mirrored into the depth of enigma and arcane. Most of the guests shivered at the sight of him, terrified of his presence. His shoulders were broad and his Royal suit fitted him perfectly, his brawny features were protuberant in his attire. He was beyond handsome and the most attractive man my eyes had ever laid on all night.

Our eyes met and I swallowed hard. It was so hard to tear away from his frightening gaze. I watched him approach me, making his way through the guests, he walked passed Adeline. Wait! What?. That was not meant to happen. What is going on here?.

He is meant to be awestruck with her looks, falling hard for her but instead he was walking towards me, which was more than strange.

He wore a weird smile, as he stood a few feet from me. I stared at him, too shocked to speak.

"It seems like we meet again Lady Rosalind!" He spoke in a dark deep tone, his voice was enticing to the ear.

I blinked a few times, puzzled by his words. How did he know my name? When was our first meeting?. I pondered hard on these questions.

"I am so sorry Your Highness but I don't think we have met before!" I said, a bit nervous. The stares I received from everyone in the room were endearing.

He chuckled and leaned closer to me. I found myself moving backwards.

"Are you sure about that?" He asked, in a mischievous tone.

My face went pale with shock as realization dawned on me. The familiarity of his voice with the mysterious stranger from months ago shook me.

"You… you're the…" I couldn't bring myself to complete the statement.

His smile grew wider as he stared at me, probably enjoying the moment.

"It seems that you have recalled!" He said, his eyes gleamed at me.

I nodded my head slowly. The whispers in the room were palpable. The guests were probably wondering and talking about us which was not what I wanted.

"Would you like to dance with me?" He asked suddenly.
