The Female Lead

#WSA2024 Have you ever wished of traveling to another world? Traveling to a place filled with magic and magical creatures, being part of a wonderful and powerful family? Being loved and admired by people, especially cute, hot and dreamy guys?. Well, guess what? You are not the only one. One of the things she has ever wished for was to transmigrate to another world, leave her awful, stressful, God forsaken life behind. Meeting handsome and hot guys who would do anything and everything for her attention. Well if wishes were horses, riders would ride. And truly wishes were horses because it finally came true. After another stressful, boring day of work just as she slowly drifted off to sleep Emilia Jones finally transmigrated to her favorite novel ‘Twisted Fate'. A novel that is on everyone's lips, it is all over social media, everyone is dying to know what would happen next as each pages unfold, discovering new path each character takes and not to forget how hot the characters are, especially the male leads. Now Emilia Jones is finally part of the novel but here is a twist, she did not transmigrate to the heroine, who has the purest of heart, her silver long, silky hair glows in the moonlight, with twinkling blue eyes that captivates every soul that gazes at it, her voice was as angelic as ever, enticing every one to it's tune, she was the ride or die of all the male leads. She also didn't transmigrate to the villainess, her heart is colder than ice, her hair darker than ebony and her eyes red as velvet, she was the one many people in the novel feared. Being the one with magical powers that transcended all except the Royal family, she took everything and anything she wanted but she could not have the hearts of the male leads. You would think that she transmigrated as a supporting character but nope, an extra…. Maybe. Her soul passed into the body of a thick skull, half-witted, her stupidity knew no bound. The only thing good about her was that she came from one of the powerful families in the country, her power was known to be the weakest, a flicker of a flame. She was a beauty to a point and she had only a few scenes in the novel and experienced a very idiotic death. She was the beanbrain that Emilia transmigrated into. This was not part of her wish!!.

Fire Dolls!!!

"Are you ready?" Leo asked.

I took in a deep breath, steadying my breathing and clenched my sword before relaying a response.

"I am!".

I stared at Leo, awaiting for him to begin. He inhaled and exhaled deeply, with each breath brought forth steam from his lips, before I understood what he was doing, he released a massive wave of flames from his palms which surrounded me, like a giant wall.

"Don't worry, I will not hurt you!" He yelled from the other side.

I looked around the wall, enthralled by its size and the power it exuded. It was that moment I understood how powerful his flame was.

All of a sudden, the wall began to ebb away putting me in a state of utmost confusion. As it drew closer to the ground, it created something which looked like a flaming knight, it's armor was made entirely of fire, it was radiant and illuminated ever so brightly like the sun. It stood tall and powerful, its helmet was sharp, fiery and its gauntlets blazed brightly as it wielded his flaming sword. He didn't create just one, there were many of them and they encircled me, each holding a sword.

"What are these?" I yelled, my stare shifted from one knight to another. I couldn't discern their faces due to the flames.

"These are my fire dolls!"

"Fire Dolls?" I asked, more perplexed.

"Yes, they are dolls that I created with my flames!" He explained.

"Wow!" I was enthralled "When will I learn to do this?".

"Let's just stick to the training!" Edward said quickly, ignoring my question.

"Okay, fine!" I replied, not arguing about it "Let's do this!".

They walked towards me, I clenched my sword as I sketched a strategy in my head.

The first knight approached me, swinging its sword at me, with a wave of my sword, I slit through its armor like butter, destroying it.

"That was easier than I thought!" I said to myself.

Time flew by as I destroyed a few more piercing through their amour and sending lashing flames at them, my fiery attacks disintegrated them with not much effort.

I gasped for breath, my gaze landed on the remaining two that were located at my sides.

They drew nearer to me, simultaneously they swung their swords at me, I gracefully bent backwards, their swords slit through the air and missed me by an inch. Before they could strike again, I executed a spontaneous backflip launching powerful fiery whips towards them while suspended in mid-air which incinerated them.

I landed on the ground restless, the training took a lot from me. My sword faded as I tried to grasp for air

"That was really good, Rosalind!" Leo said.

"Thanks but they are weaker than I thought!" I pointed out.

He rubbed the back of his neck nervously, pondering on a reply to give "Well, I didn't expect you to notice that. I didn't want to make them extremely strong since it was your first time practicing with them!" He explained.

"Oh!" I nodded, slowly absorbing his words "So, which move do I have to learn next?" I asked, staring at them expectantly.

They both exchanged a known look before turning to me.

"About that. . ." Edward paused for a bit while I stared at him puzzled ". . . This is where my training with you ends!"

"Why?" I asked.

"Well, if you really want to learn more, I'd suggest you learn from masters and teachers who have more experiences!" He explained.

"You have experiences, don't you?" I inquired, I really loved the moments we spent when he trained me.

"I do, but. . . I am still trying to master more moves and I can't teach you till I have gotten them right but I do have a suggestion though. . ." He said quickly before I could protest.

"You could attend this school!" He brought out a folded piece of paper and handed it over to me.

I unfolded it, an image of a huge building was drawn on it, on the tips of its rooftops there were drawings of the Alderian flags, on the edge of the drawing there were wordings.

"The Alderian Institute Of Magic!" I read out the words.

It sounded so familiar like I have seen it before, it suddenly hit me. In the novel I could remember vividly, Lady Adeline announcing to The Crown Prince Cedric about her wish to attend the school, she wanted to improve and learn more about her light magic. I didn't know much about what happened then, the chapter ended with the Crown Prince promising to pay her visits when she got in. The next chapter was about Rosalind's death. I have no clue about whether she got in or not.

"So, will you attend?" Edward's question drew me back.

"I don't think I will!" I replied, folding the paper. If my theory is correct then attending the school will mean getting sucked into the original novel and I definitely do not want that.

"But why?" Leo asked suddenly.

"Just because, and I kind of like the level I am with my flames!" I responded casually.

"So, you are declining?" Edward asked.

"Yes, I am!" I replied with folded arms.

They looked at each other and turned to me, each bearing a nervous expression.

"Well, we have some news!" Leo began.

"What kind of news?" I asked, squinting my eyes at them.

"We told Father about you attending the school just like we did." He pointed to Leo and himself "He has agreed to it and signed the entrance slip!" Edward explained.

"So, what does that mean?" I inquired, my brows furrowed as my fear came to life.

"It means that you have no choice but to attend!"

"What!" I exclaimed, my yell sent the birds around us flying.

"If you don't attend, Father will have no choice but to pay a hefty fee!" Edward pointed out.

"How hefty?"

"You don't need to know!" Leo replied quickly "There is more. . ." I groaned at his words, he ignored me and continued "You have to pass the entrance examination. It comes in two phases!"

"Fine, I will just fail the entrance examinations, problem solved!" I replied casually.

They wore a strange look as they stared at me, stunned.

"You are not planning on doing that. No Everhart has ever failed an examination and you will not be the first!" Leo said firmly.

I rolled my eyes at him, saying that I was annoyed was an understatement to what I felt inside.

"Fine, I will try my best but I will not make any promises!" I warned, pointing at them.

"Good for me!" Edward said with a shrug while Leo didn't look impressed.

"What about the two phases of the examination?" I asked.

"Right! There are two phases to the entrance examination. The written exam and the combat. The written is just a formality to check how learned you are and bears a few points while the combat, tests your fighting ability and power level, it possesses more points than the former!" Leo explained.

"So, I just need to flop in the combat and fail." I said thoughtfully.

"Exactly!" They replied simultaneously.

"Wait!"

"What?"

"So, what kind of combat are we talking about?" I inquired, ignoring their confused looks.

"I heard that this year, it is going to be a duel!" Edward said.

"You have to be ready for anything since you have no idea who your opponent will be!" said Leo.

I sighed while staring at them. Something bothered me deeply, why did I get the feeling that I am being dragged into the novel?.

* * * * * *

I flipped through the pages of the book, scribbling down the important details. I still couldn't believe that I was really studying for the examinations. Edward's words were ringing in my ear as I stared into space, recalling our conversation earlier.

"I am not studying for it and that is my final decision!" I said firmly, he cornered me after breakfast and dragged me into the library.

"Why?" He inquired.

"I just really don't want to attend the school!" I responded.

"So, you just want to fail the examination intentionally and not get in!" He said.

"Well, yes! That is my actual plan!" I replied matter-of-factly.

He sighed, looking distraught.

"Do you really want to go down in history as the first Everhart to ever fail an examination?".

"Why do I get the feeling that Leo and you are making that up?" I squinted my eyes at him, maybe if I stared longer he would admit to it.

"No, we are not!" He replied with a mere shrug "Everhart's are known to be smart and very intelligent!".

"Well, that's not what people think of me!" I said, avoiding his gaze, I felt the hurt Rosalind had whenever she was called a dummy.

"That's because they have no clue of how smart you are Rosalind!" He said softly "I know that when you pass the examination, they will not think that!".

His words were filled with encouragement that they comforted me. If the real Rosalind heard this, I am sure her eyes will be filled with tears.

"Fine, I will study for it. You have convinced me!" I said, yielding to him.

He engulfed me in a hug, taking me by surprise that was the first time that we ever hugged since I transmigrated and it wasn't strange at all. It was warm and fuzzy, I could tell that he really cared about me.

"Thank you Rosalind, when you pass the examination Father will be so proud!" He said letting go of me.
