The Star's Promise

Pryor had given Susan and Adelaine the week off due to their grandmother's illness.

Susan found out that Elaine had spoken to Brad and made an agreement with him not to touch Sonia or Leen under any circumstances. Whatever Brad did, his grandmother was no longer the same courageous and confident woman.

To add to her dismay, her friend Karin informed her of Brad's wedding and his maturing on Saturday. The problem became huge and she wanted to find a way to solve it but she did not know how.

Elaine was hospitalized until Wednesday and was taken to her home. And during that time, the agents and Aunt Maggie paid her a visit. Her entire family was worried about her and avoided upsetting her by talking about the Fairchilds and the Foxes, but the visitors had other plans.

All of her family was present in the office. She asked for Susan and Jonathan as she had recovered from the shock and now she looked upset.

-You came back alive that's why I know you didn't do anything to her, thank God. It would be stupid to try to lay a finger on them. From now on, the Fairchilds and the Foxes do not exist, forget them, we never had or will have anything to do with them-

-Grandma...-

- Shut up! This is all your fault. If you hadn't locked up that brat that day, we wouldn't be like this today and maybe we'd have another kind of relationship with her family-

-You are challenging me?-

-Nathan, Marcus if this gets out of control again, I'll leave you in the hands of that monster.-

-Mother, what are we supposed to do. Susie is also a victim just like Johnny ...-

-Nathe, I admit, in large part this is my fault for covering up her crap and endorsing luring the devil into this house but I didn't think this girl and her brother were so stupid. Do you know what I found out in those meetings? You want to know?-

Elaine's children gulped and glared at Susan and Jonathan. They learned what happened on the fateful day Leen was locked up and the malicious plans they hatched against the Fairchild sisters.

Nathan and his wife Oriana didn't come out of shame. Their children dared to cross the line by planning to kill them if necessary, yet Elaine had to inform them about "The Star's Promise." It was only revealed when the rules were broken and it was always done between the heads of the families of origin after the murder of Chelsey. An oath with their stars in between in front of each boss.

No one would attempt revenge with homicide, otherwise, the star of whoever committed the crime would end up being extinguished and the perpetrator's family would lose the right to wear or request a new star for eternity. "Star Forgiveness" was the only way to reverse it, but it needed everyone to agree and that would never happen.

Although the Flakes and Fairchilds did not speak to each other, it never crossed their minds to want to kill each other. Elaine only sought revenge by attacking them psychologically followed by the occasional humiliation but the murder exceeded her expectation. The day Susan arrived and said that Leen was her friend, she thought that stellar forgiveness could eventually restore the trust and friendship that was lost because of Yusifena.

But again it was the Flakes who ended up ruining everything. Susan realized that she was wrong about her friendship with Leen when they were children. Even when Leen's mother died she went to comfort her, but eventually everyone started looking at Leen for her intelligence and her prowess with her magic. She now she knew why she locked up her friend, she was out of jealousy and envy.

Learning about the promise made them realize that it was impossible to go back. They gave up their attempt to seek the long-awaited forgiveness and would try to forget to move on.

Elaine ordered that in the future the following Flakes should not know about hatred between families in order to give them the opportunity to grow up without resentment towards the Fairchilds and the Foxes.

They left, leaving Elaine's children alone with her.

-The next meeting between bosses will be in October. And whoever doesn't like it should shut their mouths. Myriam Fairchild announced that her family would abandon the families of origin once and for all. Thanks to her stupidity, the balance of 2000 years went to the trash-

-I thought we wanted them to become extinct? -

Marcus and Nathan couldn't believe what they heard. That information could wipe out everything they knew and they concluded that their mother and her ancestors were morons for attacking something so sacred and not apologizing for Chelsey's death.

In their desperation to process a solution, they did not realize that Susan was hiding listening to them behind the false wall of the office. She now she couldn't look at Leen in the same way and she had to give her an urgent apology.
