There was a heavy silence as Beatrix stared at me as I gently laid the people I ensnared with solid shadows down onto the ground. "Lady Beatrix, it's an honor to meet you but there is no need to fight, I was going to heal these people and regrow their limbs," I said holding up my hands in surrender so she wouldn't think of me as a threat.
But Beatrix just tilted her head to the side as she bluntly spoke. "Did they volunteer for your help or desire it?" I could only wryly smile at her question as that was a hit on the head. I never asked to heal these people but I also doubted they would leap at the chance of healing without proof so I wanted to force that proof upon them so they would know I was the real deal.
"No... But I wanted to heal them, all the same, to make them understand I was telling the truth." I responded honestly and then continued. "Beatrix I would like to speak-"
Before I could continue and finish Beatrix drew her sword with a loud rasping noise as the sword sparked with harsh white mana and I knew that words wouldn't work as Beatrix softly spoke as she held her sword at the ready. "I am taking you to jail. Lay down with your hands behind your back or I will remove your arms and legs so you can't resist."
At that scary-as-hell statement, I froze for a second at her serious countenance as I couldn't get the words out about having Alpha but then again it was perhaps for the best that I didn't say anything due to all the people watching.
"Look I admit I went about this healing the wrong way but let's just talk for a minute alright," I said disarmingly but in response, Beatrix blurred forward and I knew she was done talking in general.
In response to the scary-as-hell elf charging at me with a sword drawn and ready to dismember me, I snapped my fingers and pulsed mana through the runes engraved in my gloves to cause a powerful alchemical and runic reaction causing a powerful explosion in front of me that blew the both of us apart from one another.
Before I could say anything she dashed forward strafing side to side that way any explosion I created would miss her and in response, I cursed under my breath as I transmuted the ground beneath me so that I would have a pillar of solid tungsten push me into the air that stopped her from just cutting my pillar down, and so Beatrix just had to run up the vertical pillar still intent in chopping me to bits I sent down smaller explosions and spears of light I conjured from my hands.
"Your magic is odd." Beatrix softly spoke as I kicked off my pillar when she reached the top of it and then as I fell back to the ground I transmuted the air into a hail of tiny diamonds that got sandblasted towards her with a flame thrower I conjured with my gloves.
"I use my magic for spells and stuff rather than to make myself faster or just cut things in half... Like, regrow limbs!" I yelled sarcastically as I slammed into the ground and rolled across it to avoid several swipes of Beatrix's sword.
"Oh spells, show me then?" Beatrix almost ordered as her head tilted to the side with interest and she gave me a second and didn't charge me as I got back on my feet.
So I took a deep breath and seeing as she wanted to see something fancy I activated my magic circuits and recalled the chant that Scathach beat into my skull for something big. "The fire is my Lord, The fire is my Guide, May this flame last for all of the time, May it burn the Past, And light my Future, May this flame become, What has only been dreamed of, As the Eternal Sun's Flame,
Of our god Lugh." I shouted and I felt my magic circuits heat up as my mana drained at the divine incantation.
But then a ball of pure golden flames filled the town's square and Beatrix became utterly serious as no longer was she testing me, as I felt her pure killing intent pointed at me by her as she realized my magic was no longer a laughing matter that she could simply cut aside.
Granted I could have used the lines in my verse to call upon an even stronger form of the Celtic god Lugh's flames but the lines already were long enough as it was with Beatrix having to sprint around the massive ball of divine-tinged flames that were melted the town squares brick laid ground.
But then I smiled as Beatrix made it close to me while I made the massive ball of flames, I also transmuted the ground and as she closed in on me I kicked the ground shattering the small lid I left so I fell down the pipe I made, then as I fell into the tungsten lined pipe I whispered "Boom."
The whole town shook as the ball of divine flames exploded but thankfully everyone at the sight of the flames being conjured quickly evacuated at the site of this whole battle being more than a swordsmen duel.
After a few moments while I allowed the surface to cool down I transmuted the floor of the bottom of my pipe to send me back up to the surface and as I popped up I saw the melted remains of the town square and I knew that any hopes of getting along with the elf nation were kaput at this point.
"Well, this is a mess." I grimace as I transmuted the surrounding ground to cool down and then I heard some stone shatter behind me as I whirled behind to look I saw the shattered chimney that Beatrix used as a stand to launch herself at me was crumbling in slow motion as Beatrix pulled her sword out of a Laido as she dashed at me.
"I am sorry." She mouthed as her sword was drawn while she lunged at me my chest went cold as her heavily augmented mana-filled form was beyond a blur even in my adrenaline-filled eyes and before I could react the tsuba of her katana slammed into my chest as the blade of her sword went straight through my heart.
I could feel her sword cleanly slice through my heart and my lung as blood filled it making me hack as I felt like I was partially drowning but Herakles's training wasn't for nothing and even as she pulled out her sword and held it sideways to take off my head I snapped fingers due to being unable to speak and chant so another explosion separated us and as my body was about to rag doll I felt thick solid yet still soft shadows grasp me and pull me back and I looked back and even as my vision dulled and it sounded like I was deep underwater due to the whole dying bit, I could still hear Alpha screaming my name as her shadows took my body backward away from the fight.
I wanted to say something to remind her about Herakles blessing but before I could even heal with my Godhand I saw an ethereal golden cage surround me with my form glowing with a soft red fire while within the cage.
"Even in death, you will be safe in my grasp. For eternity I shall be at your side and will provide a place of comfort that will allow you to pass on peace, my contractor. Relax and accept your place in the Lands of Kur and the most beautiful goddess of Sumeria, Ereshkigal will lovingly hold your soul." A voice gently spoke and I lost consciousness as I felt my form slacken and as my head fell down I felt the unmistakable feeling of my head resting in the lap of a woman.
