Chapter 1

Diana Caddel, A calm yet smart girl. Despite having such fair traits and features, Diana was cursed. She is able to see a person's remaining lifespan and death rate, But who knew, She was also able to bring death to a person just by physical contact. We'll see more about Diana and questions shall be answered. But, Not for now..

"Finally, I can rest" Diana sighs as a soft smile appears from her lips. She stares out the window, The beautiful sky looks wonderful and has relieved her stress. Her alluring ruby eyes were filled with apathy despite having a soft smile, This makes her strange yet a mysterious girl.

Diana's smile has suddenly disappeared after hearing someone was gossiping behind her, "That's her right? The one who's cursed" "Yeah, Don't get near her or else you'll get unlucky"

She sighs, "People really can't shut their mouths. How bothersome" Diana ran her hand across her hair as she laid back on her chair. "I'm bored.. I'll just waste my time lazing around in the library" She stood up and checked the stack of paperwork she had done, "There's nothing missing. That's good" Diana left the room then went to the library.

"That.. was seriously uncomfortable" Diana pants as she holds on to her chest, "having everyone look at you with spite everytime you walk past them is seriously irritating. But, I couldn't care anyways. They're right about me being cursed so why should I bother to bicker with them" She laid her back against the library wall then looked at her phone, "It's already 2 pm, I should get inside now"

Diana walks through the sections of the library, But a certain book catches her eye. 'The Lore of Angels and Demons' Diana thought of the book as foolish but the book cover was rather strange. It was a lion, biting an innocent rabbit, but the other rabbits surrounding the lion were turning their back against the scene. Crazy isn't it? But, It was the reason why Diana read that book. "The title sounds stupid, But, It seems.. Interesting. I'm really out of my mind"

She tucked a piece of her hair behind her ear as she reached up to the shelf to get the book. Diana sighs, "Is there a chair nearby?-" She cut off her sentence when she felt someone's presence behind her, She turned around and saw a guy holding the book she wanted. "This is the book you wanted right?" He says as his sharp golden eyes met with Diana's ruby orbs. She took the book from his grasp, "You're quite brave to approach me, I suppose you already know me. But, Haven't you heard the rumors? It's good if you don't come near me. But, Thank you for the book by the way" Diana thanked him, But the apathy in her eyes made him curious. She turned her back on him but he grabbed her wrist. She was startled then pulled back her wrist, "Are you crazy? Why'd you do that?!" Diana looked at him with worry in her eyes. "Don't be too loud if you don't want to get kicked out" He put his palm on her cheek. Diana's worry turned to surprise. ' I can't see his number.. Impossible! I knew for sure- Right.. I also did not see his death rate when I turned around.. ' She was panicking inside but her expression stayed calm

"Just who are you" She asks with a sharp gaze. He gazes back with curiosity in his eyes, This made Diana annoyed. ' Just who does he think he is, Looking at someone who he only met with such curiosity as if he was looking at a monkey in a zoo ' She sighs then swatted his hand off her. "Look, I didn't mean to sound like someone who asks with spite. But, do answer my question. Who are you exactly" She says while her eyes turned back the way they were, Full of apathy. He backed away then answered, "Lucas Vaan. That's my name" She squinted her eyes on him, "Lucas Vaan, I haven't heard of that name in campus. Are you perhaps a new student?" She asks while tilting her head for a little. ' Lucas Vaan.. There was no sound of him entering the academy. With his good looks, There should have been an uproar about him coming '

Lucas mumbled, "I was never a student here to begin with.. I just wanted to see you. Diana von Caddel" He switches up his attitude and then answers. "Yes, I am indeed a new student" Diana decides to give him a small test. "Oh, Then you must've heard about the pool incident then right?.." She asks while feinting to be guilty. "Ah yes.. But, I know it was not your intention to push her into the pool making her.. Drown" He looked at her with fake pity in his eyes. Though he did not know that Diana could read him like an open book. ' Bingo. The pool incident was 3 years ago and the incident was hidden away to not dirty the image of the academy. Even new students until this day didn't know. So how could he, A new student, know about that matter ' She smiles at him. "Sir Vaan. You're not new right? I'm sorry, I must've been too straightforward. But, What is your plan and why approach me out of all people… Also.. You're not human right?"

He flinches then huffed with a sarcastic smile across his face, "It seems you're quick-witted Miss Caddel. But, Me being not human? I do not get what you mean"

She sighs, "I was just joking Sir Vaan. It seems that my humor is quite horrible. Then, I should take my leave" She turned her back on him then left. He couldn't feel anything but be entertained. "Diana.. Even in this world, Your way of speaking and mind is still the same.. But your eyes, How could that graceful look of yours, be turned to be blood-thirsty just like before"

Diana sat down and put the book on the table, "Finally I can read this now, I just wasted my time on him. But I couldn't let go of the fact that he has no death rate. Somehow, He also felt familiar" She relaxed her way of speaking then opened the book.

It is said that Angels and Demons are the exact opposite. But, What if there were neither Angels nor Demons? They are called Adiaphorous. but they are also named as Angels of Death.

They are considered to be ruthless but also gentle. They either save someone's life

Or bring them to death. They choose whether they kill or save, But since they are exceptionally loyal to their Goddess, Only she can punish and order them. It is said that there are 12 Angels of Death but only 6 remain alive after the Great war of Avarice. The war where Angels and Demons fought over the power of a new goddess, Vinm. The Goddess of Souls.

The 12 Angels of Death protected their goddess until their last breath. All other Gods and Goddesses did not intervene with the war, But, The God of Mischief, Eros. Made a deal with one of the Angels of Death. The contents of the deal is unknown, Except for the Angel of Death, Eros, and.. Vinm.

The Angel of Death betrayed Vinm and the other Adiaphorous, As the other Angels of Death fought to protect their goddess, He killed Vinm, Their Goddess, Right in front of the Angels of Death and the others. He threw her decapitated head on the grounds of war and watched the other Angels of Death expressions filled with fright and disbelief as they looked down the head of their goddess. Demons laughed as Angels sighed with a disappointed expression. They all retreated leaving the Angels of Death and the traitor fighting each other.

The traitor killed the other Angels of Death, leaving the others no choice but to flee.

The remaining Adiaphorous decided to part ways but still kept in touch. The traitor also decided to leave the place, but, One of them met a stranger from another world, Who knew, That stranger to cause such massive destruction on different lands.

"I don't trust you, But, I do have faith in you"

"What? I don't understand.." Diana sighs, "Why the hell did that Angel of Death even betray them? What's the deal? And how did Vinm know about the deal? I literally have so many questions.." She ran her hand through her hair and leaned back on the chair. "Haa, What does the quote in the end even mean? The lore was short so I could not understand anything. It's said to be the lore of Angels and Demons so what did I just read" She sighs again, She glanced on her phone beside her, "7 pm?! The dorms are about to close!" Diana immediately took her phone and ran out, As she was on her way to her dorms she heard a scream. She followed where it was coming from, leaving her goal to go to the dorms immediately gone.

She ended up in an alleyway and took a step back, "Come on Diana, You already went this far" She said to herself before going in deeper to the alleyway. But she did not know that her life was going to make a huge turn..

Diana's eyes widens. Her scarlet eyes that were filled with apathy, turned to terror.

A scene she couldn't imagine was happening in front of her. A man, whose sword is through a woman's stomach. She shakes at sight of the scene, unstable breathing and a sudden adrenaline rush. ' Her death rate.. Is at 100%.. She's really dead.. '

The man noticed Diana's presence and threw the woman away. He looked at her with curiosity in his eyes. His azure eyes gaze through her ruby orbs. Diana was frightened but was attracted by his gaze. She slowly calms down as she reaches out her arm, He grabbed her and they both looked at each other's eyes with mischief. Diana who is attracted by his eyes but still has malicious intent towards him, And a mysterious man who is curious about the girl but also has an ill intent towards her. What will happen?

They both ask each other the same time, "Who are you"
