Chapter 37: Cocktails and Clarity
Alex walked into the restaurant she'd agreed to meet Devon in, noting the decor and atmosphere in surprise. She had expected some upscale eatery but it was a very humble and cozy restaurant and bar. The lighting was slightly dimmed for a more intimate atmosphere and the air was full of chatter.
The bar was the main feature you noticed when you entered the room and every stool was occupied by men whose attention was turned toward the TV mounted to the far right wall. The right side of the room was completely occupied by booths and tables that were also full of patrons.
"Are you looking for someone?"
Alex turned her head and found herself face-to-face with a server. She was dressed in a flannel and a skort, a loaded tray in one hand.
Alex smiled and nodded. "I'm supposed to be meeting someone for a date."
"Beautiful woman wearing expensive clothes?" the server asked with a cheeky grin before bobbing her head to the right. "She's sitting at the booth in the corner."
