Chapter 26: Caffeine Fixes Everything
Birdy was getting ready to leave the house and meet up with a client when there was a knock at her door. She sighed tiredly and hoped whoever was on the other side would be a better surprise that Dale had been. She still had no idea how he had even found her new address.
After Dale had left, she'd finished the bottle of wine Alex had brought over while she thought over their relationship. It was harder to forget ten years shared with someone than she had expected. Seeing her ex had thrown her off completely and successfully distracted her from her issues with Alex.
If anything was clear, it was that Birdy wasn't great with romantic matters.
Whoever it was at the door, she could talk to them for a few minutes before she really had to leave to avoid being be late. She slung her tote bag over her shoulder and walked to the door, pulling it open to find Dale standing on the other side with an apologetic expression on his face.
